Had an excellent floating vet last week - such a great experince that I had no qualms about bringing my cat in today for follow-up treatment...until I was completely belittled and degraded by one of the regular veterinarians, who told me that she knew my cat of 14 years better than I did, she was "the professional" and I "was not", and accused me of wanting a procedure that would "KILL" my cat. REALLY? The floater vet gave me the complete opposite diagnosis and was willing to do this safe procedure without question. When I spoke further, I was rudely interrupted and was told that I was upset and she "would not help me" under these circumstances. Who wouldnt be frustrated when someone (a "professional" - laughable!) accuses you of wanting to kill your pet. I had already spent $450 for one day and they wanted another $367 (in less than a week) for something I could easily do at home. I paid the fee and left. I contacted my old veterinarian and was quoted $126 dollars for the same procedure. He also agreed with the floating vet that it was the best avenue. Definitely not going back to Banfield unless it is an extreme emergency. Pros: Friendly staff and technicians. Sooo sweet and nice to me and my girl. Cons: Ugh. Rude vet, way too expensive for the treatment. The problem? My cat is constipated. This place wants another $400 on top of the $450 I just spent 5 days ago. Do the math and go elsewhere. Be wary of corporate agencies. Im glad I made a second trip, now I really know what its about. Sorry to burst any bubbles.

I took my dog, whom Id adopted from the Animal Humane Society, here within a week of bringing him home since he had developed kennel cough. The vets and staff are nice enough to my dog, but when I expressed to them that I felt he might have allergies due to the food hed been eating, I was told that it might not be a food allergy but a dust mite allergy, and from there I was encouraged to buy prescription food that may or may not solve the root issue. I felt that I described his symptoms (allergy- and cough-wise) well enough to suggest to them that I was more knowledgeable about pets than the average pet owner and thus knew the actual problems, but I still feel as though I was treated like an idiot. At the end of our visit, despite telling them numerous times that this visit and the prescription should be free since it was a courtesy visit paid for in his adoption fee, I still had to remind the woman at the counter that it was a free visit, they charged me for his medication. This prescription was supposed to be sent to the AHS location where I adopted him, yet they didnt give me that option even when I showed them the paperwork stating so. I didnt go back for the follow-up visit because I didnt want to incur additional charges, and I probably wont again.

Just because you had a bad time ONE Banfield, does not make all of them a bad place. Yes Banfield is corporate owned but the doctors and Techs have their own views and ways they like to help/deal with people and animals. Just like any other Vet clinic, you may like one Banfield and hate another. And keep in mind, You are not a doctor or even a tech- you dont deal with animals they way Doctors and techs do on a daily basis. Chances are they DO know best- they are not trying to trick or screw you over. To the person who wrote the note below this one- Maybe your just a sissy, maybe you loved your pet so much that it wasnt even the doctor having a bad day (or whatever you blame it on) Maybe it was you being a little irrational because you were told your best friend was on his death bed. How else are they supposed to tell you! They arent going to hold your hand and hug you- this is there job and they care about there patients but they have to stay coarse or they would probably burn out really fast. Pretty much my point is... use your best judgment and get over the fact that a doctor is going to know your pets body and even personality better than you, sometimes. Its what they were trained to do.

My cat is a patient at another clinic, but after this experience, I am seriously considering switching to Banfield. I called my clinic this morning because my cat was in and out of the litter box all night. He was crying and scooting along the floor. My clinic told me that there was no doctor in today and encouraged me to call other clinics in the area. I tried clinic after clinic, but everyone told me that they were full. Banfield told me that their schedule was also booked solid; however, they told me that if I dropped my cat off, they would look at him in between their other appointments. When we arrived, the staff at Banfield was accommodating, warm, helpful, and courteous. Although they had a busy day, the vet called and talked to me for over ten minutes about treatment options. He did not push me toward any specific treatment plan; in fact, when I asked about a particular test, the vet said that he would recommend waiting a week to see if the cats symptoms cleared up before running such an expensive diagnostic. Thank you, Banfield, for being so flexible and fitting us in today even though we are not your regular patients! I deeply appreciate it!

One of my dogs was having frequent extended urination. I observed a disproportionately small amount of urine for the time she spent squatting. So I took her into Banfield. Both dogs are on Banfields health care plan. They sampled her urine and sent me home with antibiotics to give her in the mean time. Turns out the dosing instructions provided on the bottle were wrong. I gave her twice the dose required because that is what the bottle said. Then they charged me for more antibiotics to complete her dosing cycle, even though they realized they screwed up. The dogs urine sample was supposed to have results back within a day or two. It took more than 5. This test was apparently forgotten about. Although they did charge me for it. To sum up Banfield: Good at taking your money. Bad at treating your pet.
