I have a one one year old yorkie (female)who I have been bring in for vaccines since she was a baby... Im always on time, polite and never complain about fees I even donate treats for their cats etc... Now I brought my baby in to the groomer for the first time. I always take her to pet smart but they didnt have any apts available at that time... So being her first time I bring her in early I explain to the groomer what I want her to, how much to cut etc.... She tells me Lilly will be ready by 11-11:30 so I get there 20 min before 11 I pay ($50) and they bring her out right away and when I see her Im like "omg" they almost completely shaved her off... They cut her wiskers and she no longer has hair for her bows.... Im so mad at that point that I grab her get her in her car seat and leave... I get home and notice they cut her wiskers, didnt trim her nails or cleaned her ears and they nipped her in three different spots.... So I call I ask to speak to the manager and they tell me they will have the owner call me back and she did 4 hours later.... She tells me she knew I would be calling because her employee mentioned to her that I was not happy with the groomer... So she is not letting me say anything... She is rude and she tells me Im making a big deal because hair grows back and its just a dog.... I got so mad... She told me she knew I had asked the groomer to shave Lilly because the employee over herd me say that... I told her that if what they did to Lilly was what I had asked for I would of had called to complain and that it was very rude to no let me speak and tell me Im over reacting... I said "if thats what I wanted done I would of had done it at home and saved $50" she laughed at me and said she new what had happened and that it wasnt a big deal then hang up on me... I will not be taking my Lilly back at all.... Horrible service and for the owner to be so rude and say its just a dog she should have an animal hospital....

We have been going here for over 16 years mainly because of the location.We’ve always thought that the owner was unprofessional and just wanted money,we were happy with the rest of the staff.Prices were good but expect long wait times .When our first dog had to be put down the experience from the owner was very unpleasant.With our next dog we decided to look for a new vet,but ended up staying here. She had puppies so we were bringing two dogs for visits. My husband refused to deal with the owner so I had to be the one to take the dogs in. My husband and I brought our dog in for a loose tooth and lump on her gum. The owner said it could be a tumor, cancer, abscessed tooth, or had been kicked in the face. She then referred us to another vet hospital because they couldn’t take the right x-rays or do the biopsy. When we contacted the referred clinic we were told that we had to pay for another exam which was doubled the price for the exam that was already done. We then started contacting other hospital vets and decided to go to Minnesota Veterinary Hospital in Shoreview. They diagnosed her and had her on a fungus prescription in less 24 hours! The service and support was far superior then at Hillcrest.When we picked up our dogs records from Hillcrest the owner had written more about my husband then about our dog. Anytime we had asked a question she would make comments as we wouldn’t know because we didn’t have training as she had. She continually talked down to us and kept telling us we wouldn’t understand because we didn’t have Veterinary degree or Search And Rescue like she does.She couldn’t diagnose our dog and we were only asking questions as concerned pet owners. I would not recommend Hillcrest to anyone! After going to our new family vet we really realized how horrible Hillcrest has been throughout the years!

the reason im giving this a one star is because we have been taking our pup there since she was only a few months old for check ups and shots. this past week was the first time we used the grooming with them and they shaved out pup all the way and cut off her whiskers after we had told them about our problems with pets mart doing that. also the person who shaved her did it so hard that she nipped her tail and feet the where there is bald spots down to her skin and when my wife called to ask about it she got the owner/vet and was truly just rude. Any one who says its just a dog should never own a pet clinic or be involved with animals.really makes me sick!

I have two dogs and one that has received routine check ups, heartworm treatment, surgery at Hillcrest and they were nothing but phenomenal. They were willing to work with me on ensuring that my dog got the upmost treatment necessary. They called after surgery to give me updates and followed up with me to ensure my dogs recovery was going well. The staff has shown nothing but respect towards me and my knowledge of my dogs. They understand that my two dogs are my fur babies and deliver the best care possible to my babies. I appreciate their support and words of wisdom.

Terrible service, do not give this hospital your well earned money for care in your pets they will try to get you for every penny they can from your pocket. They do not care for your pets its money money money! Plus I have to add how unprofessional they behave on the phone in front of people or how mad they get when you dont wanna get more services you do not want. Save yourself a bad service and do your research on a good pet hospital!

Very professional, knowledgeable & caring. We take all of our dogs and litters here. I have always had all my questions answered and have always felt as if they truly care about the health of my dogs. I found Hillcrest about 6 years ago after terrible experiences at another White Bear Lake animal hospital. I will never consider going anywhere else!
