I cant say enough good things about Dr. Foster and his staff at Southview Animal Hospital! They have been caring for our 2 golden retrievers for many years. Several weeks ago our 15 1/2 yo golden suddenly started throwing up and couldnt walk, eat, drink or even lift her head. A dog of that age could very well be nearing the end of their life, but she had shown no indication of illness prior to the vomiting. Dr. Foster came to our home to check on her. Seeing that she was gravely ill he gave us a few options: do nothing and see how she does overnight, give her IV fluids due to dehydration and see how she does overnight or consider euthanizing her. We opted for fluids and drove to his clinic for after hours care. Dr. Foster had called the clinic with instructions and they met us at the door and immediately took care of Summit. In the hour or two that we were there Dr. Foster called and spoke to the vet on duty 3-4 times. All the while he was constantly thinking about why Summit could have so quickly become this ill. He decided to do some blood work which showed one of her blood markers was considerably high - indicative of cancer, ingestion of something toxic or a serious intestinal infection. It was decided to give her antibiotics in case it was an infection or toxin ingestion. If she showed improvement by morning the antibiotics were doing their job, if not we would need to think about letting her go. Im happy to say that Summit is back to herself thanks to Dr. Fosters expertise and care! The following week Dr. Foster stopped by our home to check on her and give her one more dose of fluids, he called to check on her a few times during the week and he only charged us his cost for the blood work and antibiotics because we had initially only talked about giving her fluids. The blood work and antibiotics were things he did because of a gut feeling coupled with his expertise and that is what brought Summit back to health. We are so grateful for the care Summit and Remy receive at Southview!

Though I dont feel they mistreated my animal in any way they charged ridiculous prices, ran unnecessary testing, and left little options but to spend huge amounts of money. My dog simply had a wound on her tail. they ran approximately 4 tests and charged us 600 dollars for essentially a makeshift plastic case (worth 40 cents, I found the product they used online), and some overpriced antibiotics. This was the cheapest option we had others ran upwards of 2,000 dollars. When we called at a later date in regards to heartguard medicine they said that was one test they hadnt run and that we would have to bring our dog back in. When the plastic case was damaged I was thinking I would pay 5-10 bucks for a new one but they told me that I would need to schedule an appointment (minimum charge of 50 dollars or so) because they had to fit the case to my dog. This case or splint as they call it is simply a test tube transport tube worth 40 cents. In addition when we went the first time they tried charging us for additional tests they had apparently run but had not even asked permission to run. Though we eventually got them to take these charges off, this business practice is just unethical. Instead of helping my dogs health by giving us another plastic piece they insist we ultimately spend 50-100 dollars minimum for a 40 cent product. I refuse to go there and I will simply order the product online.

Update: (8/27/16) If it wasnt for Dr. Foster I wouldnt have ever given this place a second chance. He made every effort to make things right from my horrible last experience, he truly cares for the quality of customer service and care for animals. If I go back it will be because of him. Thank you Dr. Foster. (8/19/16) Took my dog in yesterday because he had diaherra and it caused bleeding. I could tell my doctor was young and inexperienced. Right off the bat she wants to do 500$+ worth of test. When I told her I couldnt afford all that right now (Im 8 months pregnant) I felt rudely judged because of my financial situation. I felt like she was frustrated with me because I couldnt afford it. So instead of coming up with a plan B right away the first things to come out of her mouth was "I cant treat if I dont know what Im treating for. If he doesnt get better you should consider euthinizing him" So incredibly inconsiderate, rude, and inappropriate. Finally, she ended up sending me home with some medication. I will be taking my dogs to a different vet from now on.

I am extremely picky with my vets-- my pets are like my kids and Im sure Im not the only one out there who has vowed to never return to a vet after visit one because of the way that the vet treated my pet. That being said, after having been to a large handful of vets in the TC metro area, I will NEVER go anywhere other than Southview ever again. The staff here is AMAZING. There are not enough words to describe the level of care and compassion that they have for their clients, big and small. Every single vet, tech, and aide at Southview is an all-star-- I am always comfortable going to anyone at this establishment for my pets care as I know theyre getting the best from THE best. I know how easy it is to get burnt out in the vet medicine field but the team at Southview is consistently passionate for their work and for finding solutions for everyone. Ive never encountered a team who works harder or treats their patients better than this group of wonderful people. You will be in the best hands here.

I visited Southview Animal Hospital 2 weekends ago with an emergency. My dog was not acting herself, kind of down and just not right. When I called the clinic at 1:00 in the morning, I got a phone number to speck directly to the doctor coving emergencies. After going over the symptoms with the doctor, I decided to bring her in for the doctor to look at her. It’s a good thing, my poor little dog had a bladder stone, not immediately life threatening, but very painful. The doctor went over my options, answered all of my questions and eased my mind and my dog’s pain. She went back for surgery the following Monday and is on her way to her old self. I was so impressed with the doctor on call, the staff when I checked in, answering my questions, they called me when she was in recovery, and allowed me to visit her that evening (she needed to spend the night). This is my new clinic. They are so wonderful and caring. Thank You!

I took my cat in for a laser declawing when she was a kitten here(I know I shouldnt have). Unfortunately they handicapped my cat. We are now many years later and she still cannot jump up as high as she should, depressed, and is still always overly protective and paranoid about her paws. Because of this we are also constantly battling obesity with her due to inactivity. Laser declawing was supposed to be more humane and less risky. Boy were they wrong. I suppose I could sue. But what good will it do? Theyll still handicap your cat because theres money in doing it. And if you are an employee or owner of this company and youre reading this, by all means check your records under my name if you think this review is fake. I moved to another state yeah, it doesnt make this review fake, nor does it make the damage you people did to my cats life any less real.
