The purpose for this negative review is due to the fact they cancelled my appointment, lied to my face, and didnt seem to want my business as a new customer who wears glasses and contacts. I scheduled my appointment two weeks in advance (the earliest available time). I take off an hour from work and go to Reno Family Eyecare for my scheduled appointment. The gentleman at the counter tells me they cancelled my appointment. (WHAT??) I asked why, he said because they did not have my insurance information (on the phone, I was told they accepted my insurance/coverage and I just needed to bring my insurance card to the office when I had my appointment, just like it states on their pre-exam letter); and, THEN he told me he cancelled the appt b/c he called me 4x and left 2 voicemails. He told me the number he called, which happened to be my cell phone. hmm, I dont recall missing any phone calls or getting any voice messages; so, pulled out my phone to double check, no missed calls from them in the last two weeks and ZERO voice messages. I was being lied to, straight to my face. I simply couldnt believe what had just happened. I told him, I had no missed calls from their number and DID NOT have any voicemails. Before I could ask if they could still get me in at my scheduled time, he asked, very nonchalantly, if I wanted to reschedule... I told him that Im here and would like to stick with my original appointment; otherwise, I will seek another OD. I was informed this was not a possibility (I couldnt understand why, there was one gentleman waiting and one person discussing glasses, too incredibly busy for two ODs to handle). I realized this gentleman had no shame because he lied to me and then had a complete disregard for this potential customer. I would advise you learn from my experience and avoid this ethically challenged business. There are plenty of honest OD practices around who would be more than appreciate your business and you as a customer. Maybe this gentleman is the one with ethical issues, but to me it doesnt matter, I will never go back.

Having needed an exam, I decided to try out Reno Family Eye Care given they were under my insurance and very close to my residence. Theyre office is incredibly clean and professional and everyone that I worked with were pleasant and easy to get along with. Both Dr Smith and Nancy, the two that helped me through my exams, were very knowledgeable and made the whole process incredibly simple. I think the only difficult part of the visit was choosing new frames for my glasses. The have a decent selection of frames with a wide enough variety for men (cant say what the womens selection was like), but dont go in expecting a big wall like say Lenscrafters or even Sears.

Everyone was very friendly, helpful and courteous. My examination with Dr. Mariah Smith was very thorough. She explained everything about my eye health and answered all my questions. The optical staff is top notch which was much appreciated when it came to lens options for my prescription and properly measuring and fitting my progressive lenses. I would recommend Reno Family Eyecare without reservation and look forward to my next visit.

Being a mid 20s bachelor with little to no fashion sense, Dana was honest, friendly, and helpful in helping me pick frames that "fit" my face. Glasses arrived ahead of schedule their scheduled time, and even though there was a mix up with the lab, Christina had them rush ordered and I had my glasses back with the appropriate prescription within 2 days.

I got an appointment within one day of calling. The staff and doctor took time and care in getting me in and getting my examination which was very thorough. Dr. Smith explained everything to me clearly. I would recommend Reno Family Eyecare to anyone needing an eye exam where you will be treated with care and respect.

Dr. R. Andrew Boren. Is my eye doctor and he is very kind to me and treats me whit respect and the staff makes you feel at home they will help answer any questions you have no matter what.
