I’ve been meaning to write this review for a few weeks. I’ve been going to Sandler Eye Care for over a decade. Dr Sandler herself has been one of the most professional, kind and knowledgeable people in medicine that I have ever met. She’s that good… very motherly too!!! She’s great! BUUUUUT… the office staff… what’s their problem?!?!?!?! Each time I have been there, they have been condescending and dismissive. Most recently, I went in the other week asking if I could get a copy of my prescription… while they gave it to me in the end, I can’t even begin to express the amount of condescension and rudeness directed towards me. They were actually talking about me while I was standing there. They would sigh and huff and puff while they were putting together my records as if I had asked them to build the Great Wall of China. The woman who took my PD(Pupil distance) was probably the worst of all. So contemptuous the entire time and spoke to me as if I were a moron that couldn’t understand simple information. And the woman that answered the phone was so rude when I didn’t know what a “PD” was… how many people do you know outside of the optometry world know what a PD is….? Again, Dr Sandler is one of the best medical professionals I’ve ever seen, but her staff leaves so much to be desired. There is often a stigma about medical office staff being rude towards patients. This crew takes the cake. Hopefully, someone from the practice sees this and speaks to the staff. I would give this practice a 5 if the staff were nicer.

I was referred to Dr.Sandler by my cornea surgeon, Dr. Raber, to be fitted for a special lens for kerataconus patients due to several rejections of my cornea transplants. Additional surgery is not an option for me presently; thus my referral to Dr. Sandler. I share this information to let you know that I was very nervous, having been down this road numerous times in the past. I was first put at ease by Concetta, who was very kind to me and understanding and informative when I first called to make my appointment. When I had my first of many visits with Dr. Sandler, I was THRILLED with the lengths she went to to ease my fears, and to try many different lenses to accommodate my eye disease (NOT an easy task). She spent a considerable amount of time with me, and explained each step explicitly as the exam and fittings took place. She has done this for me EACH and EVERY visit since that time. Dr. Sandler is EXTREMELY patient and VERY explanatory, ensuring that I am comfortable and very well informed during each of my visits. She even offered to assist me with any insurance issues I may encounter, and provided me with a letter of explanation of keratoconus to submit to my insurance company, as most are unwilling to pay for even a portion of the lens, believing them to be for cosmetic purposes rather than for medical necessity. I am so grateful to have been referred to Dr. Sandler and will continue to be seen by her, and will be referring my family and friends to her as well! Dr. Sandler is absolutely the BEST!

We highly recommend Dr. Sandler & her team, who have been providing for our familys vision since 1987. They give us the most knowledgeable, professional & caring service, going far above & beyond the large chains. When our son experienced an injury, I called the office after hours & Dr. Sandler gave me emergency advice & a referral which helped save his 20/20 vision. They also stand behind their eye wear, & will work through any concern, until their patient is completely satisfied. In a time when customer satisfaction isnt always valued, they are the rare exception!
