I went to UBHC 3 years ago, when i was 12 and was put on the adolescent unit. When I got there i was told i would only be put on 1:1 if i self harmed and didnt tell them i was feeling the urge to do so. So i told a nurse i had an urge to self harm (thinking i would avoid 1:1) and was immediately put on 1:1, which lasted for 4 days since apparently no one could get me off it on the weekend. (They also gave me like 5 doses of some medication on the first day). That sucked, but the groups were ok. They were pretty informative (a lot more so than Carrier) and covered a variety of subjects. The wound care there was also much better than other inpatient places. However, at the time of my admission i was not aware of the way my mom really died. They insisted that i needed to be informed before i was discharged (which i can understand), but the execution was horrible. I was told while sitting in a room with my dad and 4 or 5 doctors, none of which i knew well. I think one of the doctors ended up telling me actually, instead of my dad. Then i was given 30 minutes (i think) to talk with my dad and they made him leave. I tried to speak to a staff member after that, but they werent helpful at all. And at that point i was anxious to be discharged so i pretended like it did not bother me at all, and they bought it. My anorexia was also not handled great at UBHC, but it wasnt horrible. They were pretty accommodating with the food i needed, but staff wasnt always so helpful in how they handled it.

When I was in there I was there for about 14 hours, I did not belong there, it was a set up being in there, my relatives called the police on me june 11, 2017 and then I was sent too Robertwood Johnson university in new Brunswick for almost three days june11, til midnight june 13, 2017 and then after midnight on june13,2017 I went too Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare for one night til the nexts day on june14 early in the morning for a few doctors too see me and then got sent home by a cab, the cab cost me $80.00 too get a ride home, what a rip off since I came home I been going too BEHAVIORAL SOLOTIONS TOO SEE DR PEDDU, THREE TIMES AREADY. I WOULD NOT RECAMEND GOING TO RUTGERS UNIVERSITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE AT ALL FOR ANYONE.

UBHC is a wonderful place. I have been admitted here in the month of Jan 2017 as I was suffering from Schizophrenia (schizo-affective disorder), hallucinations and delusions. I wasnt eating properly for almost a year. I was inpatient for almost 24 days and I had seizure during mid of Jan 2017. These people took right action and put me back in good health with the help of RWJ and St Peters hospitals nearby. Services are amazing. Food is great. Even though being a chemical engineer its a great opportunity and experience for me to see people with disabilities and their needs for life and the government tries to help and stabilize them.

They did the bare minimum but they dont call you back. You have to hound the social workers everyday till she calls you back. They gave me a number to call for my moms treatment and they dont accpet her isurance. and when i call back umdmj they said to me what are you gonna do about this? Idk what to do? Thats ur job to know right. she like i only give you numbers to call and you from there are todo everything your self. But as medically they have great care for the people who are there.There after care sucks if u dont have the right insurance. for the after care.

My son was brought in by APS and he was treated like a person not a wild animal. I worked for the PACTteam and had to call APS a few times forclients. Ive had experience with PESS for both my daughter and son and was very displeased.with the treatment, compared with APS. The nurses at PESS were inept, nasty and unprofessional. It took 17 hours for my daughter to see a psychrist. who left because her shift was pver and the new psychiatrist doscharged her immediatly. Very inadequate care for patient and family waiting.

They would constantly make jokes about your problems. For, example the first night I was explaining my insomnia to the nurse and he said. "Oh dont worry the beds are temerpedic." This made me really happy then he said. "No I lied you think theyd ever do that for you guys you get nice plastic mattresses." The staff would constantly make jokes about your issues and lie. I would never recommend this place to anybody and id never let my child get sent there.

UBHC is a wonderful place. The staff are really friendly and hey - you may just get attached to the place. It helped me in the worst time and being there was one of the best memories I will ever have. UBHC is the place to go if you need any type of mental help. I love it.
