This past Saturday I visited the ER with severe abdominal pain and cramping. I have two conditions that could possibly cause this but there was the chance it was appendicitis. While the waiting room didnt look too busy it was a busy day, so I waited a bit and when I was finally called back I was placed in the hallway. It was a long visit over 8 hours but you know what, the staff was great; attentive, articulate, and thorough. My needs were met within parameters everyone was comfortable with. (I.e. Painkillers, they started non narcotic and went from there in small increments that caused them to have to check On me more often than if theyd just decided to go the easy way and give me a full dose, which I was very grateful for and appreciated immensely) Were there people treated before me that came in after? Absolutely, it happens, there are situations that warrant it. Was it a bit weird to be in the hall? Sure, but it happens. There were other people that needed either the privacy due to their particular condition or they were children. Were there stretches in which I saw neither nurse nor doctor? Yup, but some tests take time and at that point I wasnt in any immediate danger of dying. Did I want to leave after a few hours? Of course I did, I dont like hospitals at all, but emergency departments are busy and time depends on what is going on. Did I get grumpy, I did, which I apologize for. In the end they couldnt pin point exactly what it was but left me with referrals and a thorough understanding of my options. It wasnt just the doctor and nurse either, it was the ultra sound and CT Scan techs too. Everyone was wonderful. There were hiccups with testing times and what not, but it wasnt malicious or anything. In an emergency department, emergencies happen. I didnt see anything as far as uncleanliness and being in the hall I did, in fact, witnessed the custodian thoroughly cleaning after patients departed as well as door handles, the floor, etc. When my sheet slipped down because the pain made it difficult to sit still I was brought a new one and another nurse stopped to help fix the bed and make sure I was comfortable. Over all I was absolutely satisfied with my visit and providers. Things happen, but I would reccomend this Hospital and was very happy with the over all visit despite my own antsiness and grumpiness while I was there. I of course can not speak for every personality type or anything, but the staff is great and knowledgeable. Id also like to say thank you to the staff members that made a painful and anxiety riddled situation manageable.

I have to admit that when I arrrived there I was admitted rather quickly. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of being honest when they asked me what medications I was on. I told then Wellbutrin, which is an anti-depressent also used to stop smoking and because I have panic attacks since I was 22 I use xanax once in a while. I told them I was there because of a lack of ability to sleep for 2 months due to my suspected restless leg syndrome and I could not get to a neurologist. I was simply looking for some temporary help until I could get to the correct specialist which I have now scheduled an appointment for. I spent a total of 9 hours in the emergency department that day, five of which were spent in a lockdown unit because apparently I must have somehow implied that I was a suicidal psychotic maniac. I never once used those words. The worst part is that they never told me exactly what unit I was in, I had to figure it out for myself. I was very clear what was wrong with me, and I have never been so traumatized by an experience in my entire life. Having all of my belongings taken away and being searched for weapon is something that has never happened to me in my life. I realize some kind of miscommunication occurred here, but after talking to me it still took them 5 hours to realized I needed to be in the other emergency department. I was never informed what was going on and when I finally realized where I was, I was never so scared in all my life. Another 4 hours passed before I even saw a doctor, which they had no intention of letting me see until both my husband and I got irate. The doctor was as helpful as he could be in this situation, but the damage was already done. As a SANE person, I would advise people to never visit this ER department here for anything except stitches. I believe they have a good staff of medical professionals and the nurses were nothing but nice, but I know they obviously did not listen to me when my information was being input. Maybe listening to their patients when being processed would be a good idea. Unfortunately, even though I am sure this is a very good hospital I will never go there again for any kind of emergency ever again and neither will my family.

This is the worst hospital Ive ever been to. My family has been here numerous times due to it being the closest to our home. The staff is unbelievably inept, nobody has any information when you ask about discharge, they give you the run around and eventually ask for your number so someone can get back to you hours later. The nurse that started treatment never told us that the shift was changing and the new nurse never even knew my mother had an IN in her arm until they she was being transferred. Asked how the results of blood work and x rays were and was told the doctor would speak with me about it, however not once did a doctor come in. If you have to bring your loved ones here Id warn you to think twice about it and try to find somewhere that has a caring staff. I contacted the operator to get visiting hours And was told that visiting ends at 7 pm and that I could see my mom, however when I arrived they said there were no visiting hours for the day, and that there was no number that I could contact my mother. I then asked how I could discharge her so I could bring her to a better facility and got the run around and was told I had to speak to the nurses station. After speaking with the nurses station I was still given no information about my mothers condition or how she was doing and was asked to leave my number so someone could get back to me. 2 hours later I received a call from the doctor who said nothing in regards to how I could take her to another facility but instead said I prescribed her medication and will see how it affects her and then maybe discharge her in 2 days. The only upside was I was given permission to be able to speak with her. This hospital is an absolute nightmare and I could tell you more horror stories, but the moral of it all is never ever ever go here unless its the only available option, and even then youd probably be better asking some random person on the streets to assist you then coming in here.

ER IS HORRIBLE. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I went in with my 10 year old son to the ER. He is in the autism spectrum and while there he had a meltdown due to noise, unfamiliar area and sensory issues. Because of this, they then had us wait for hours and they were talking about transferring him to Trinitas Hospital to stay in the childrens psych ward there for a few day b/c of his meltdown! I told them he was in the autism spectrum. They told me if I tried to voluntarily leave with him without the hospital psychologist, they would call DYFS and have him taken from me!. I called my sons neurologist immediately. They then brought both me and my 10 year old into PESS to have a video conference with the hospital psychologist (scary in itself in that unit let alone for a 10 year old!) and with the help of my sons neurologist they eventually released us. I wouldnt let them treat him for what we came in for and ended up making an emergency appointment the next day with doctors to treat him. THE ER STAFF REALLY NEEDS TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS INSTEAD OF INSTANTLY TREATING THE PEOPLE LIKE MENTAL PATIENTS. DISGUSTED!!!!!!!!!!
