Ive gone to this office a total of 4 times. Each time the service got progressively worse with the last time taking the cake. I wont go in to detail about visits 1-3 but lets say that after each of those visits i had reservation about going back, but foolishly i went back for a forth time. Let me start the story of this visit off by saying "HE HAD X-RAYS BUT NO PLAN" Looking at my x-ray while I waited i could clearly see that there would have to be a lot of cutting to remove my wisdom tooth. Im not a dentist but wisdom teeth extraction is about the cutting not the pulling , only my oral surgeon didnt see it that way and proceeded to dig in to my face like it was him against the tooth.. He did a surface cut and began to dig in my face in a manner that makes me understand why dentist of yesteryear had people so afraid to go. My wisdom tooth was impacted so it was wedged up against another one and under bone. To say he put his foot in my chest and pulled would be a welcoming experience compared to what they did. Again i say "HE HAD X-RAYS BUT NO PLAN" he yanked and tugged at this piece of tooth (it had broken and one piece was left)so hard that his tools kept slipping and hitting me in other parts of my mouth and teeth. He bared down on my jaw so hard i thought it would dislocate. Hes leveraging pliers on my mouth trying to pull this piece of tooth, my lips are all bruised. They pulled and pushed on my face and jaw so hard that both the assistant and the surgeon complained that there hands cramped and hurt. He got so frustrated that he threatened to leave it in there, yea he said that. Though i couldnt see his frustration because my eyes were closed i could feel it the way he yanked at my tooth."HE HAD X-RAYS BUT NO PLAN" the x-ray clearly shows the tooth is wedged against another so cut deep enough so that you have room to pull the tooth back and then up. Not pull and hope you can pull through the bone and good tooth. It literally was torture. Because I believe the work can be done better i am not afraid to go to another dentist but I am afraid to get another like this one. Now i have to find a dentist to finish what they started but i wont go back to them let alone recommend them. They got 1 star because I had to but theyre a clear zero.

This is my first time ever writing a review for anything, but the lack of professionalism at Amalgamated Dental Center, Union, NJ definitely warranted a review. 1st issue, called 5xs and left 3 messages over the course of a week and a half, never received a call back. when I made my 6th call someone answered, I stated, "Ive called several times and left 3 messages and had yet to receive a returned call." She very nonchalantly said, "Im sorry, how can I help you?" 2nd issue, the day of my appt. (Aug. 18, 2017) I arrived and proceed to the window, there were approx. 8 people congregated at the front desk area, there was a guy talking to everyone (having what appeared to be a staff meeting). He was talking to them about how things will be handled going forward, I assumed as a result of their new ownership. I stood at the window for about 30-45 secs. before anyone even looked at me. Finally one of the ladies opened the window and handed me a sign in sheet. I signed my name, she took the sheet and closed the window. I stood there for a couple more seconds a little bewildered because there was no greeting nor any other exchange of words, then I sat down. There was 1 person already in the waiting room who appeared to be waiting for someone. After 20 minutes, I went back to the window and knocked, when the lady opened the window I said, "Ive been sitting here for 20 minutes without anyone saying one word to me, you guys are clearly having a staff meeting, do I need to reschedule?" One of the other ladies then says, well be right with you. I waited for maybe 2 mins, and they call me in for my cleaning. Upon leaving, I schedule an appt. for an extraction for the following week. 3rd issue, I arrive at my appt. Aug 22, 2017, at 3:22 p.m. (4 p.m. appt), and theres a sign on the door saying "WE CLOSED AT 1PM DUE TO 90 DEGREE TEMPS AND NO AIR CONDITIONING" there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but how about contacting your patients to let them know. The same way you require notice of a cancellation, you should give notice when you need to cancel!!!!

If this place has an owner who cares about their facility, he/she should really consider changing the front desk staff. These people are the first impression when you enter the office, and they are rude and lazy. The one star I gave is ONLY for the orthodontist and dental assistants who are friendly. When I first went in this office, I was standing at the front window and the girl who was working was texting on her phone. She saw me standing there and I was waiting for her to pass me the sign in sheet and at least greet me properly (that is what she was getting paid for.) She kept on texting and didnt even acknowledge me, and then I finally said "Excuse me, Im here for an appointment, do I have to sign in?. Second- Some of these people are so lazy and rude on the phone. My son needed to make an appointment for adjustment and I asked them if we can come in that day. The girl on the phone said "yea, you can come in today before 4". I drove 40 MINUTES there only to find out the dental assistants werent even there. Do these people not pay attention to what patients are saying?? There have been so many other instances where the front desk has angered me. Many times I call them and they just give me an immediate response (without asking for the patients name, etc). Its like they dont check and just want to take the easy way out. I would only recommend the ORTHODONTIST, but you have to talk to these rude people before you meet him.

Smh. Just terrible. The only reason I gave it one star is because zero wasnt an option. These people really need to get their act together. Both my mother and I went to this place and immediately found a new dentist. The people who drilled my mothers teeth accidentally cracked her tooth. She was in pain for weeks and no medicine was prescribed or anything. Service was always terrible. They hardly address you when you come to the front desk. These people told me that my gap in the front of my teeth would close eventually. Six years later, it didnt. So much for expertise! And theres always a new team every time you go in there. You never know whos doing what in your mouth. And I know many others whove been to this dentist office whos teeth have been damaged or not been taken care of properly. Never again.

Terrible experience!!! The place is like a factory. They pack a lot of people in and dont care about quality. They are very rude and unprofessional. The office manager is the worst, and she seems to run the business - not the dentists. They never follow through on approvals or communication with insurance co. I had to make calls to insurance constantly to find out what was going on. I had to correct information they were giving me. They dont do their homework representing the patient. I repeatedly had to call them out for not following through. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes, I was told that I can find another dentist if I dont like it. And that is exactly what I did! They need to lose more business to get it! You dont treat patients like crap. It will come back to hurt you.
