I chose this vet on a last minute whim for my cats possible UTI because of the short driving distance from my house. The receptionist at the front was wonderful and polite. The paperwork I filled out about my cat was short and to the point. But when I was seen by the vet, it was as if I was being judged because I was so young and obviously not someone that was going to be able to leave him a tip for his services. He showed NO compassion for my cat knowing that he was in pain and uncomfortable. He did not pet, talk to, or spend any extra time to try to soothe my cat. And on top of all that, he was explaining things to me as if I was some kind of idiot. The worst part is that rather than waiting until my cat had to urinate again to collect a urine sample, he took my cat in the back and catheterized him without asking my permission. And what shocked me more than anything was the treatment he was put on for his UTI. He gave me antibiotic pills and charged extra for wet food for urinary health. I have never heard or seen in any of my research that wet food is necessary to treat a urinary infection because antibiotics are the true treatment for this. In the end, I had to pay $119 for antibiotics for a urinary tract infection. I will not be a returning customer for this vet and will be switching back to my old vet, The Animal Hospital of Boone.

In the four years that Dr. Knowles has been our vet, we have had nothing but expert care, kindness, and consideration from him and his staff. He stays current with the latest information and is skillful and compassionate with our pets. He has looked after both cats and dogs in our household with equal expertise. Dr. Knowles will be our veterinarian of choice until he retires.
