Dr Monce has been our vet for many years and we think the care and compassion he has given us has been stellar. He is in the business for the right reasons, for the animal...its not the money. Hence the rescue dogs and cats you see living at his facility...he takes animals that others do not want and gives them homes. He will take the time to talk with you and not rush you out....and not run 9000 tests and labs everytime you go in and run your bill up. we have 2 dogs and 3 cats and everyone of our animals has been there...for routine checkups and for surgeries. When my wife took one of our cats to an emergency clinic on a weekend when he was closed and they told us we needed to euthanize him, we took him to Dr Monce and he showed us how to give our cat subcutaneous (under the skin) fluids and helped us keep our cat alive for another 2-3 years. (happy years too, he only needed the fluids for a week until he was back on his feet eating again and recovered) we have recommended petsound to several neighbors and friends and all have come back to us with rave reviews. i would trust him 100% go take a look for yourself, i dont think you will be disapointed.

We trust Dr. Monces decision, skill, and knowledge. We would not change our vet as long as we are in the area. Initially we used to go to Banfield, and had Dr. Monce as a backup. But we found on more than one occasion that it so happened that a condition was misdiagnosed or improperly handled at Banfield and we got accurate diagnosis at Dr. Monces. Besides at Banfield the vet was never the same so the service was checkered. Also, we took our dog to Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) one time and they did an excellent excellent job with the surgery. However, they are 2-3 times as expensive as Dr. Monce with comparable results. The after-hours care at VSH is perhaps better as VSH is open 24 hours, but if the surgery does not require post surgical care then one has to really wonder whether its worth spending 2-3 times as much? Dr. Monce generally has a conservative approach, to the extent that I have found myself wondering whether he really wants to do the work? However, in hindsight I have found that his conservative decision was better; this is not surprising as he is a vet and I am only a dog owner !! So if Dr. Monce says a procedure is necessary, it probably is.

In early 2014, I brought a dog to the PetSound with a difficult leg fracture. The staff and Dr. Monce were helpful during and after the first surgery and also 2 weeks later when a 2nd surgery was done to try to correct the injury/repair. Six weeks after the surgery, the leg was not healing, the dog would not walk on it and shed become lethargic due to being in constant pain. It was decided to bring her to an certified orthopedist for a 2nd opinion. Most upsetting is that PetSound would not return the calls from me or the orthopedist for information. The Office manager at PetSound eventually informed me that Dr. Monce does not confer with other vets about their ongoing cases and if further information was needed, the dog would need to be seen at PetSound. seeking 2nd opinions is standard practice in medicine - at least among providers who are confident in their work. perhaps Dr. Monce is a good internist but IMHO, this case should have been referred elsewhere and he should have been cooperative with the vet who is now going to try to repair the outcome of the previous surgeries by Dr. Monce and save the leg of this gentle dog.

Worst vet! Made an appointment told them where I had received past vacations for my dog. There was an issue and they were unable to receive the proof vaccines . They didnt notify me that the information couldnt be obtained until the day of my appointment. Once I got there. Of course they went ahead and saw my dog with out proof of vacations because they wanted the office visit money they even gave him a steroid shot for his issue. When it came to selling me the other medication he needed they told me NO not without his proof of vaccination. This medication is prescription only! So you are telling me you could give him a steroid shot but couldnt give him prescription flee and heartworm medication. There intentions was obvious which was making sure they got that money for the office visit.

Caroline the receptionist is so rude I cant believe she still has her job. I have complained about her phone etiquette as well as her professionalism. I see my complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Her behavior has just become more surly. The vet techs are either fantastic or the complete opposite. It is strictly the luck of the draw. Dr. Monce is a great vet but has never shown up for the scheduled appointment on time. He seems to run about 20 minutes to 30 minutes late. The professionalism in this office is not up to par as other offices I have seen. The vet techs wear jeans, and the office staff look sloppy and seem to always be eating.

At the end of the day what really matters concerning visiting the vet? It doesnt matter if the staff is not always the best, it doesnt matter if the vet teks are nice or not... what matters is if the VET had the knowledge and skill to diagnose and treat your pet so that at the end of the day you get to bring them home! Dr. Monce has both the knowledge and the skill and has now saved the life of two of my dogs. He has done some of the most complicated surgeries in our area and is determined to keep pets healthy and vigilant when they are not! Everything else is for the birds!

Office staff EXTREMELY RUDE! Place was disgusting! The lady up front looked "trashy" They are just not dependable. I definitely do not trust them with my personal information. The lady up front was boasting about drinking the weekend before. She also took FOREVER to get my invoice ready, and messed up my payment TWICE. I took my invoice to another vet and they proved that PETSOUND was way overpriced. Rachel ( the Vet) has a horrible personality and likes to give unnecessary meds just to make more money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! There are better places in Cary to go to.

I was referred years ago to Dr. Monce for a knee repair surgery for my dog. I was very impressed with his approach and willingness to spend time with me and my dog. He evaluates thoroughly and explains everything and all the options. He does not advocate needless tests and surgeries just to make money. He takes a more conservative approach than my previous vet who always wanted to run tests and senior labs just to tell me the lump was a benign fatty tumor. I have referred several friends and they are just as pleased as I am. I feel fortunate to have found PetSound.

Dr. Monce is simply outstanding. Compassionate and totally competent. Weve been going there for almost ten years and have no complaints. Weve had emergencies during normal office hours where Ive thrown the dog into the car and called on our way and there has never been any question about taking us in. Hes referred us to the vet school and to a local orthopedic vet when it was necessary without hesitation. His office staff and technicians are wonderful and most of them have been with him for years. I think that says a lot about him as a vet and as a person.
