My boyfriend and I adopted a little French Bulldog named Cash last year when his elderly owner died. Since we live in South End, we took Cash to a vet clinic near us where the young vet informed us within 5 minutes of meeting us and looking at Cash that she thought Cash might have cancer based on some lumps she saw. She ran some tests and called us to tell us that Cash did, in fact, have cancer and needed to have surgery within a week. I will ALWAYS be indebted to her for so quickly recognizing the tumors but I KNEW I couldnt afford the surgery price she was quoting. Cash is my first dog and I already loved him so overwhelmingly that I also knew I had to figure out how to get him the surgery and FAST (MCTs can behave aggressively and need to be removed as fast as possible). A family friend told me that she brought her dogs to Monroe Road Animal Hospital so I made an appointment and brought Cash in the next day. He saw Dr. Davis and she was kind, patient, and very thorough. Dr. Davis treated me as kindly and gently as she did Cash. I felt like I had a partner in Cashs care. Her surgery prices were also several hundred dollars less than the other hospital so with her incredible bedside manner and the pricing, we decided to move forward with MRAH doing Cash’s surgery. Cash had two different surgeries as 3 additional tumors “grew” after his 1st surgery. Dr. Davis was able to get clean margins around his tumors. Dr. Davis recommended we only send the most concerning ones in order to save us a little bit of money. If the pathology looked really bad on the larger tumors located in the more malignant areas, then we could send the rest off later. I REALLY appreciated her trying to get all of the information on Cash’s cancer while keeping our budget in mind. The pathology reports came back showing the tumors were only Grade 1. Dr. Davis let us know that most Grade 1 MCT’s don’t behave aggressively and aren’t malignant and surgery with clean margins generally prevents tumor re-growth and the dog will live a normal, full life. We did, however, discuss the fact that Cash’s tumors were in locations that typically are more malignant (his muzzle and scrotum). She referred us to meet with a canine oncologist just to discuss our options. We met with her (Dr. Claudia McFadden – she is freaking fabulous also!) and decided to go ahead and do the 12-week chemotherapy protocol to give Cash the best chance at a long life with us. We appreciate Dr. Davis’s fantastic referral! We have heard horror stories of other onc referrals and feel thankful for MRAH’s amazing connections. Cash finished his chemotherapy in October of 2015 and has had 5 or 6 incidences of new growths popping up. The staff at MRAH are INCREDIBLE. They always calm me down and work with me to get Cash in ASAP and have even squeezed him in same-day when I psycho-dial them at 7:45 AM with questions about a new bump. They are thoughtful and kind and ALWAYS call me the next day after Cash has been in to be sure he’s doing OK. Cash sees both Dr. Widay and Dr. Davis and both women are INCREDIBLE vets, patient and caring people, and amazing surgeons.Their prices have been extremely competitive in my experience and they have saved me easily hundreds if not thousands of dollars from working with them as opposed to other animal hospitals. Cash LOVES going to MRAH. The fact that my dog LOVES going to the vet – a place where he has been under anesthesia twice, has his anal glands expressed regularly, has had many needle aspirates done, and just been generally poked and prodded – tells me all I need to know about the care they are giving him. Typical of me to be WAY too wordy but the bottom line is: Monroe Road Animal Hospital has the best vets and staff in Charlotte; they will work to give your baby the best care while maintaining competitive pricing and staying within your budget, and there is just no other comparable facility. We love you guys!!!!

my boxer and I have been to many vets over the years and havent liked any of them other then this place. the vet knew my dog was having seizures just by what I had descried, this is after rushing her to a after hours clinic that told me she was in pain from a gas pocket while what I learned later were classic signs of a seizure in front of her they also charged me $400. for their wrong diagnosis. this vet calmed me down and told me not to panic or take my dog to the vet when she is having one as there is little she can do that I couldnt do at home. the months to come we tried a few drugs and plans of action, most of the time it was free and over the phone as the vet would rather not have her come in because it might trigger a seizure, so looking out for the well being of my dog rather then a office fee, this went on for months until she said she has never seen a dog come back from the condition my pupster was in on our last visit. it was time I knew it but I needed to hear it from someone I trusted. about a week later I got a card hand signed from the entire staff, it made me sad because it reminded me of my dog but I thought it was very nice of them I have recommended them to a few people since then, Im only writing this now because I saw some bad revues on here about them only caring about money that was never the case while my dog was treated by them a few months ago.

My husband and I just moved to Charlotte a week before we had a planned trip and needed a place to board our cat. I found MRAH online and booked them. They promised they would send me texts and check in with me which never happened. When I called them the guy I spoke to was very nice and it seemed like he was taking care of my cat. When I went to pick up my cat he was in his cage in the cat room. There were 4 cats not in cages roaming around and a barking puppy in one of the cages as well, which I know caused my cat a lot of anxiety. The next day my cat got very sick. I tried calling Monroe to ask if they had noticed anything and the first time I was put on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up and called back, which then I was transferred and hung up on. I called a 3rd time and was put on hold again for a lengthy amount of time. I ended up calling Dilworth Animal Hospital who picked up immediately, were very kind, saw my cat that morning, and called the next day to check in on him. We will not be going back to Monroe.

Yesterday I left my pug Lucy at the boarding services of Monroe Road Animal Hospital with plans to pick her up on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to the GROSS NEGLIGENCE of that facility I will not be picking her up there on Sunday. Despite my requests for her to be kept inside and not have playtime with other dogs (she had neck/back surgery about 10 months ago) someone at Monroe Road Animal Hospital Boarding not only let her outside, but left her there in the heat. The high today in Charlotte, NC was 99 degrees. Lucy suffered a heat stroke and is currently in ICU at a local emergency veterinary clinic. No one should have been outside today. Not people and not dogs – especially not brachycephalic dogs such as pugs. Please keep Lucy the Pug in your thoughts and prayers. She needs all of the healing energy we can send her. Please also pass this along so that Monroe Road Animal Hospital Boarding does risk the life of another dog. Lucy deserved better- all animals do.
