Dr. Matthew Wheelock has the extra training required to care for rabbits. Id found a domestic rabbit in the parking lot of my workplace. It was badly injured, with open wounds and near death. I called around and was frustrated to find 6 vets unable to help me. Either they couldnt handle "exotics" which is what they considered this rabbit, or they didnt have the ability to handle an emergency of this sort. I was in tears by the time I contacted Dilworth Animal Hospital and was told to come in immediately. The incredibly competent staff at Dilworth AH took him into the back immediately, gave him oxygen and fluids and stabilised him. Dr. Wheelock refused to give up on this bunny and sedated and treated him the same night I had brought him in. They cared for the bunny over the long 4th of July weekend. We were able to take our bunny home after a few days (we knew by this point we were no longer just fostering him and wed decided to adopt him ourselves). After constant home care and multiple recheck visits to the vet, our bunny (now called Mister Basil Bigglesworth III) is doing amazingly well! He is off of his antibiotics, his hair is growing back in, he is eating well and gaining weight. Many of the incredible vet techs and Dr. Wheelock fell in love with Basil, with his sweet temperament and his drive to survive. Dilworth Animal Hospital was our savior when this rabbit was nearly dead and my heart was breaking for him. Dr. Wheelock was as determined as I was that Basil should live and be given a chance at a great life. I could never repay Dr. Wheelock and his incredible staff for all they did for us and for Basil and for not giving up on him. As Dr. Wheelock said at Basils last check up...you just have to do these sorts of things sometimes, its just karma. I personally think it means having a generous heart and a genuine desire to help animals and prevent suffering. These are TRULY good people and your animal companions will be in the BEST possible hands.

I have been using Dilworth Animal Hospital for more than 3 years now after my previous vet moved away. On our first visit, my Aussie/Border Collie/Shepard puppy mill survivor went in the door & greeted everyone like lost friends....normally at the vet she would not want to go in, pee as soon as she was in the door & be terrified). Not once in her life was she wrong in her judgment of people & due to her extreme comfort level that very first visit I knew I had found my new vet. I do a lot of animal rescue work & the "family" at Dilworth have ALWAYS been extremely compassionate, gentle, loving, and have made time for me regardless of the time (even 1130 on a Saturday night!). The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate & it is very evident that they all love the animals. On many occasions I have gone to them with very ill or injured animals (including a snapping turtle that got hit by 3 cars) & they have taken wonderful care of every one of them. On occasions when euthanasia is the only option (or kindest option for the animal) they have been completely honest with me and have been so gentle & reassuring to both myself & the pet that will be put to sleep, that both of us are comforted knowing the journey to cross the Rainbow Bridge will be painless and quick. Their knowledge & skill level is the best I have encountered at a vet but they are also not afraid to tell you they dont know or would like a second option. I LOVE Dilworth Animal Hospital and recommend them to everyone I come in contact with who has pets or does rescue work. Their prices are also very reasonable. At no time have I ever thought that any procedure that has been done was done for the money......the critters always come first at Dilworth!

Took a 2 year old female lab for a small mass removal on her foot. There were a number of problems with the surgery and the care surrounding it. The first thing we noticed is that after the surgery her foot was not wrapped at all, completely undressed. This is with a just closed incision. They also didnt give us any drugs for her. We said we had some, but we didnt end up having nearly enough and had to go to another vet for more. They offered to leave some drugs outside for us since they were closing before we could get there, but we didnt want drugs that were left outside, or to have drugs left outside at all. The combination of not a long enough course of antibiotics, plus not bandaged, led to it getting infected despite our best efforts at keeping it clean. There were also no sedatives given, which is kind of necessary for a lab just getting done with surgery. Another thing is that her nails were clipped extremely short while she was under anesthesia, without asking us at all or ever mentioning that that would be done. They were cut way past the quick, plus at the wrong angle. Her nails have bothered her ever since and still havent grown back to a normal length. There was no follow up scheduled to take out the stitches or even view her progress. Its been over two weeks and we havent heard from them. After only a week, her stitches all came undone without her messing with them at all or pulling them due to activity, because they werent tied properly. Her foot is now having to heal from the bottom up and will probably always have more of a problem than she would have had. Weve been taken her elsewhere for care and wont be going back.

Ive never sat down and have taken the time to write a review about any place of business. For the amazing care for my pet and customer service I receive from them this is a must! I have to say Dilworth Animal Hospital deserves more than just 5 stars! My boyfriend and I got a new puppy about 5 months ago and I didnt just want anyone taking care of his health needs. I did my research before I got him so I had a vet ready to see him. I read tons of vet sites and bios from the vets in the practice, I even made phone calls to each vet office. Im so happy that I picked Dilworth for my pups care :) Im so lucky I was able to get Dr. Whitlark for Teddys care! Shes seen him since 7weeks old and he just loves her!! She is wonderful! You can see she truly loves her work. She always answers all of our questions and concerns. No question is a silly one to her. Shes given us great advice on how to take care of our new puppy! Were new to having a puppy and shes helped make it easier on us by sharing her knowledge. Our little man got sick and Dilworth got him in anytime they could! I think we had to bring him in 3 times in one month. I felt so silly like I was being just a crazy dog mom, but everyone one showed care and understanding. They never made me feel silly. Teddy loves all his vists to Dr. Whitlark and its seems now he just loves Eveyone in Dilworth Animal Hospital that truly says a lot! We will always be loyal pet parents to Dilworth!! Thank you so much! Feletsa, Steve, & Teddy
