Moving from MD to NC and finding the right vet for my senior pom Max was kind of stressful. Then a friend told me about Southwoods and Dr Joe Packheiser. During our first visit I was very relieved. I found the right vet. Dr Joe and his staff were the most caring people I had come across in a long time. Max had heart problems before seeing Dr Joe. He then began having seizures. Dr Joe did everything he possibly could for him. Max was 13 and as his health declined I made the decision to put him peacefully to sleep. Dr Joe talked to me for a long time to be sure I was making the right decision. Together we agreed to try one more thing. Dr Joe did not want me to feel guilty in any way. That was on Mon 3/1/10. Wed 3/3/10 Max peacefully passed on his own. I was devastated, but I will tell you this, Dr Joe and his staff shared my grief. They were so compassionate during this time. I would not have done anything different and I know in my heart everything that was done for Max was right. Now here we are Oct 2011. I now have a new baby who is 6 months old. Another pom and her name is Roxie. I would not let anyone else care for her. I absolutely feel so cared for when I walk through those doors at Southwoods and the staff starts playing and holding Roxie!! They love her and she loves them. I just dont understand how people can say some of the things they are saying about Dr Joe and his staff. It makes me wonder, though, if maybe, the owners of these pet just didnt want to take the time to follow the advise given. I would highly recommend Southwoods Animal Hospital to anyone. If you truly love your pet and want the best possible care for them, then Southwoods Animal Hospital is where you should go. They go above and beyond to care for your furry, family member.

I took my cat to southwoods vet appro 6 weeks ago for a problem with his skin. They charged me for a physical, then added on more charges for this and that and finally told me all he needed was flea control that may take several months to get under control. I did as they suggested. All of a sudden 6-30-10 my cat wasnt acting right, so I took him to an emergency hospital. He had a temp of 105 and his white blood cells was double what it should be. Where the fleas had attacked him and the sores where he had scratched, it caused a bad infection. Sammy passed away last night, 6-30-10, due to heart failure for this problem. The vet said if he had been put on meds for this problem, he wouldnt be in the shape he is today. He was 1 day shy of his 5th birthday. I trusted Southwoods Vet and all they was interested in was getting as much money out of me as they could. Because of their greed, I lost my lil man and its broken my heart. He wasnt just a cat, was a part of our family. If your cat is sick or has a problem and you love him..DONT GO TO SOUTHWOODS VET ON RANDLEMAN RD. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY.

Our beloved Golden Retriever had a baseball size tumor inside her lower abdomen. I knew it had to come out and reached out to our Veterinarian Dr. Kelli Paschel at Southwoods Animal Hospital to see if she would feel comfortable in removing the tumor. This is not a typical operation that they would do because of the size and location. The compassion and love everyone has shown my pets at Southwoods gave me the confidence Darby would be well taken care of. Dr. Paschel removed the tumor, Darby spent one night and came home the next day. She is doing really good. Doctor Paschel is my Super Hero!!! Darby made it through the operation which I had been told she may not. I cant say enough good things about Southwoods staff and veterinarians. This was not an operation they usually would undertake and it took hours. They have always shown compassion and love to my beloved pets. Thank you Doctor Paschel and the staff at Southwoods Animal Hospital. I am so thankful you are my pets doctors.

Moved to Greensboro about 2 years ago (2009) and, soon after, our dog blew out his knee. We inquired around and found Dr. Joe Packheiser at Southwoods to be quite experienced in veterinary orthopedic surgeries. He did the surgery on our dog and the results were quite good. Independent of the surgery, my wife and I found Southwoods to be a busy practice (thats a good sign), and all of the doctors and staff to be very competent and friendly. Rates are very reasonable too. My wife is a veterinary technician and has been licensed in 3 different states over the years. She is demanding as far as selecting a vet practice for our own animals. In the 2 years since weve first gone to Southwoods, weve made multiple visits with all of our dogs and cats and continue to be very satisfied. Have no hesitation to recommend this hospital to others.

Very helpful and sweet. They go the extra mile. Never turn me away. I went to 3 other places and Southwoods Animal Hosp was amazing. I wish I wouldve went to them first and saved myself 3 office visits elsewhere. Dr. Packheiser is a very positive dr. Meaning.. when my cat got hit by a car, other doctor told me to put her to sleep, Dr. Packheiser was encouraging and Im so glad he was b/c now Im starting to see much improvement in my little fur baby:) He also showed me a very simple technique of how to express my cats bladder, which i was very much struggling with. He performed acupuncture and laser treatment also. What a wonderful Dr. You will be missed. Also, great staff.. every single person there was very kind and helpful and genuinely professional. TRULY ANIMAL LOVERS! (Ive been some places and i could swear they hate animals)

We have been taking our dog here for 3 years and will continue to take her here. We drive about 25 min to get there but its worth it. The doctors and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and know my dog so well. They cater to her and her needs and are so gentle. I took my dog to one other vet and didnt feel nearly as welcomed and she seemed more on edge. Another plus, their waiting area doesnt smell like multiple dogs and cats walk through there. I have allergies and am sensitive to this and have had no issues while waiting there. I honestly couldnt say enough nice things about Southwoods and highly recommend them. I trust them with my baby and am so glad that a friend referred me to them back when we got her.

I have three dogs and they have always gone to Southwoods. Dr. Joe treated my dachshund after he had been hit by a car. The After hours clinic encouraged me to put him down stating that even after the surgery he probably would not be able to walk. I took him to Dr. Packheiser on Monday and he agreed to due the surgery. He was very honest with me the whole time and told me what I could expect. My dog had a broken hip, and a broken leg. After a long surgery. My dog recovered. He is now 12 years old and doesnt even have a limp. He runs, jumps, and chases squirrels. I am so grateful for the care they have not only shown my pets but my family as well.
