PEOPLE YOU NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! I CALLED FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND EXPLAINED ALL 4 THE THINGS I WANTED TO SEE THE DOCTOR FOR AND MADE SURE THAT I COULD BE SEEN FOR ALL OF THEM IN 1 VISIT. THEN, AFTER WAITING 2 MONTHS FOR THIS APPOINTMENT, I WAITED ABOUT 25 MINUTES IN THE WAITING ROOM AND THE EXAM ROOM AND FILLED OUT ALL THE REQUIRED FORMS, BEFORE SEEING THE DOCTOR. i DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHY, WITHOUT EVER SEEING A THE PATIENT, I WAS SUPPOSED TO FILL OUT A FORM GIVING CONSENT TO DO AN IN OFFICE BIOPSY. AFTER BEING BROUGHT TO THE EXAM ROOM TO WAIT, I AM TOLD BY THE WOMAN WHO IS THE NURSE? THAT THE DOCTOR WILL ONLY SEE ME FOR 2 OF THE 4 THINGS THAT i HAD MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR EVEN THOUGH I EXPLAINED, IN DETAIL, WHEN MAKING THE APPOINTMENT WHY I WAS COMING. THE NURSE? SAID THEY DONT SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS FOR MORE THAN 2 ISSUES, NO MATTER HOW SLIGHT THEY MAY BE. I PROTESTED SINCE I KNOW I ASKED FOR ENOUGH TIME FOR ALL 4 THINGS. THE NURSE? ASKED ME WHO AT THEIR OFFICE MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR ME ... WOULD YOU RECALL THAT FOR ANY REASON IF YOU HAD NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE??? I TOLD HER I HAD NO IDEA SINCE IT WAS MORE THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. SHE REPLIED THAT THE TIME FRAME TOLD HER WHO IT WAS. I ASSUMED THAT SOLVED THE ISSUE FOR ME. I WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THE MAIN REASON FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND THAT SEVERAL SPECIALISTS HAD SEEN THE PROBLEM AND THE LAST ONE SUGGESTED I SEE A DERMATOLOGIST NEXT. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT HURT AND WAS GETTING MUCH WORSE. THE DOCTOR CAME IN AND WAS NICE BUT SEEMED A BIT PHONY. SHE ACKNOWLEDGED THE 4 REASONS I WAS THERE, SO AGAIN, I THOUGHT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. SHE WENT RIGHT TO EXAMINING THE FRECKLES ON MY ARMS WITH A LITTLE MAGNIFIER AND IN SECONDS ANNOUNCED THAT THERE WAS A SUSPICIOUS SPOT AND SHED HAVE TO DO A BIOPSY. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, I HAD TO FILL OUT A CONSENT FORM BEFORE SHE EVER SAW THE "SUSPICIOUS SPOT!" WHILE TALKING TO ME DURING THE 30 SECOND BIOPSY, AND HAVING SPENT ABOUT THREE MINUTES IN THE ROOM NOW, SHE ADDRESSED ONE OTHER ISSUE BUT NEVER EXAMINED ME FOR IT. TOLD ME TOLD TRY OVER THE COUNTER STUFF AND IF IT DIDNT WORK COME BACK IN THREE MONTHS. I THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE BIOPSY SPECIMEN AND RETURN BUT THEN I WAS TOLD TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AFTER 3 MONTHS AGAIN. I MIGHT HAVE SPENT 5 MAYBE EVEN 6 MINUTES WITH THE DOCTOR. IT WAS A WHIRLWIND AND SUDDENLY I WAS TOLD THE WAY OUT. I REALIZED THAT THE MAIN AND MOST SERIOUS REASON I MADE THE APPOINTMENT WASNT ADDRESSED AT ALL SO I TOLD THE STAFF AND THEY SAID IT WAS TOO LATE, THE DOCTOR "HAD MOVED ON" ALREADY. JUST TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO SEE HER FOR IT. I TOLD THEM I WOULD ... WITH A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. I HAVE NEVER GO ONLINE TO FIND WAYS TO GIVE THIS KIND OF FEEDBACK FOR A DOCTOR OR ANY ONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. I FEEL VIOLATED BY THIS DOCTOR, AND LIKE THIS OFFICE VISIT WAS ALL ABOUT MAKING THE MONEY OFF ME AND MY INSURANCE CARRIER. WHAT IF WHAT I HAVE WRONG WITH ME IS REALLY BAD NEWS?!! APPARENTLY THIS DOCTOR AND HER STAFF DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ME, EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO TRUST HER WITH MY HEALTH AND MAYBE EVEN MY LIFE!!

Absolutely amazing. Reading the negative reviews, part of me wonders if theyve mixed up locations and theyre posting about some other dermatology office. Anyway... Dr. Matheis, the dermatologist, is one of the most skilled physicians youll ever meet. The following is a long introduction, but please stick with me (it has a point, I promise): My mother was a "sun worshiper" 30 years ago, and she is paying the price now. Shes had multiple basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas (usually mild skin cancers treated by removal), and is very attentive to her skin and any changes. Since she is a nurse, she knows what to look for. Four years ago, my mom went for her first routine physical with her new dermatologist, Dr. Matheis. Dr. Matheis saw a tiny blemish that "just looked funny" to her. It wasnt scary-looking (asymmetrical/bleeding/multiple colors/etc.) or abnormal in any typical sense, so my mom hadnt paid any attention to it. However, something about it bugged Dr. Matheis enough to take a sample. ... The pathology came back as stage 0 melanoma. There was -nothing- to indicate it was dangerous in any way, but somehow Dr. Matheis caught it. A year and a half later, my mom was there for mole removal -- not a physical -- and Dr. Matheis didnt like the look of another tiny blemish. Again, pathology returned as stage 0 melanoma. And at my moms physical just a few months ago, Dr. Matheis caught two more spots of pre-melanoma. I know thats a long introduction, but its almost worthless to just say "This doctor is really intuitive." Shes caught 4 potentially very dangerous spots that looked completely innocuous, and didnt stand out to a nurse that was actively looking for changes to her skin. Beyond that, shes very mechanically skilled, causing minimal scarring whether removing tiny moles or excising melanomas. Shes also one of the sweetest ladies youll meet in your life. Her office is also very pleasantly laid out, with decor and music creating an atmosphere that feels more like a spa than a doctors office.

I have given this dermatologist my business since 2012, and unfortunately I have been very disappointed with the service and their lack of professionalism. I went in about an issue, and Dr. Matheis took all of two minutes to look at my face and talk with me about my issue. She immediately "diagnosed" the condition and sent me on my way with a prescription for a couple of ointments to use. The condition did not clear, and I called the office to see if something else could be called in to my pharmacy. They told me I would need to come back in to be seen. I proceeded to go back in (and spend ANOTHER $85.00 for my copay.) She decided this time to take a culture and send it to the lab, and gave me a different prescription. She told me she would call me the following week with more information. After waiting a week and hearing nothing back, I called the office. They claimed they only had a "preliminary report" from the lab. I was told that the doctor would call me by the end of the week, yet I still have not gotten a phone call. Even if the lab work showed nothing conclusive, as the doctor she should call a patient to give some type of feedback. Needless to say, this does make me feel like a valued patient or a priority. Another issue I have is that after I pay my copay through my insurance, I always get a bill from the office. When I went in and inquired about it, I was told to talk to "Tammy." She wasnt in that day, but the woman at the desk wrote my phone number down and left a note for her. Tammy was supposed to be giving me a call to explain the billing to me. That was 2 weeks ago, and I still have not received a call! I am disgusted with the unprofessional manner of this office and Im looking for a new dermatologist. Save yourself the headache and do not waste your time and money going to Wake Forest Dermatology.
