Will never go back again. Took my two dogs there for their annual check up and shots. The first dog they quickly tried to grab him under his belly which caused my dog to jump a little. I then told the vet and his assistant who tried to grab him that he is sensitive to certain areas under his belly and doesnt like to be picked up like that. So what does he do, he attempts to do the exact same thing with guess what, my dog yipping and flailing. In the commotion the assistant gets cut but swears my dog bit him. My dog is the least violent dog in the world and wouldnt hurt a soul (although if someone kept doing something to me I didnt like, I would probably bite them too). So now they decide my dog needs a muzzle. Which then I explained to the doctor that if he would have just listened to me, this wouldnt be necessary. They argue to me that they do this all day, and it must just be my dog! Then what proceeded to happen was a third attempt at grabbing my dog in the same spot yielding in another jumping dog. So then they decide to give the first dog a rest before going further and so we start on dog number two. Dog number two is a lot smaller than dog number one. When the syringes of medication had been brought into the room they were all together in a bundle. They grabbed a syringe and then gave the smaller dog the shot. I then see this look of panic on the vets face. He doesnt say anything, but I can tell he wasnt sure if he gave the right shot to the right dog. I knew I should have stopped and asked, but at this point I was so mad still about the first dog, I was trying not to say something I would regret. So dog number two is done and the vet then excuses himself to let another vet handle my "vicious" dog after still defending himself as innocent. The next vet comes in and we explain the situation. She proceeds to handle my dog with a lot more care and is able to administer shots with no issue. Amazing how if they just would have listened in the first place, none of this would have happened.

Ive been bringing my cat here for years, and without the care and expertise of Dr. Hearst, she wouldnt still be here today. They brought her back to a stable condition, taught me how to care for her at home & made sure I was comfortable in doing so, and gave me tips on how to keep her healthy. If I call with questions, Dr. Hearst has always called back to answer anything I ask. The vet techs also care about theirs patients as well; many remember me and my cat by name. Even though Ive moved out of Oakley, I will continue to bring my pets to the Oakley Animal Hospital because I know this is where theyll get the best care.

Love this vet. They understand that we cant always afford expensive procedures, so when our dog needed a specialist they referred us to someone who was more economically available to us. The people who work there are so nice, they truly love the animals they see and make an effort to keep all animals healthy. They also spend time at the Oakley fancy flea market down the street, at least when its open!

They are wonderful and sensitive and realistic. Always allow me to hold my pets during procedures or position pets to see me when they are doing things so they feel comfortable. Allowed me to be present when Daisy needed to be put to sleep. It was peaceful and they allowed me to sit with her before and afterwards.

Its obvious that Dr Hearst and his staff love their clients. Always greeted when you arrive and thanked when you leave. They even hand out treats on your way out ! Looking for a friendly local vet give Oakley Square Animal Hospital a call.
