I had originally started taking my cat here based on friends recommendations. Over the years, theyve done some regular health checkups for my cat. Recently, my cat Fizzgig had been having rapidly declining health problems. Scratching out fur and vomiting mostly. I had her for 11 years and she was about 5 years old when I rescued her as a starving, 5 pound cat. Care Pet Clinic was easy to schedule and worked with my Partner who was usually the person to take her in rather than me. Unfortunately, I dont feel like CPC heeded our requests for more testing on our pet when she, rather than showing signs of improvement after getting medication, showed signs of further health deterioration. Dr. Cranny gave my cat a medication, Cerenia, to help her stop vomiting. But something about that medication and the combination of her age, IBS, and other unknown medical factors lead to her having a seizure and dying in my arms less than 24 hours from the injection of that medication. I rushed her to Oakland Park Animal Hospital since they were closest to my home and had already scheduled a second opinion appointment. However, it was too late by the time we arrived. OPAH was kind in not charging me and had even offered to charge less for the appointment when I made it because it was for a second opinion. OPAH also helped by offering some medical opinion on what might have happened, a hug, as well as cremation services. Overall, I hadnt really had many issues with CPC over the years. Theyd been relatively easy to schedule with and fairly cost conscious for basic medications/vaccinations. But I really feel like more could have been done for my pet, that they didnt do, that lead to her untimely (and quite emotional and traumatic) death. I understand having a pet that is old and had a really rough start to life, but there was some due diligence that was missed that could have potentially caught what was happening at a point where my cat didnt have to suffer. Had I known she had cancer, a tumor, or known that the medication may cause serious side effects including seizure and death, I may not have chosen that option. More thoroughness in examination, testing, and going over the options with the pet owner would have helped enormously. Even if they sent home paperwork with my partner or left a voicemail on my phone would have been more acceptable than nothing at all other than "Seems like the same thing as it was before." And treating the issue the same as before, with no concern about why it was ineffective the first time.

My dog is still traumatized when I take him to the vet by whatever happened to him when we dropped him off to be neutered and groomed including an overnight stay. That was a horrible decision on my part because the next morning when I picked him up he was completely petrified!! He was shaking and trembling like I had never seen him do before!. They handed him to me and then informed me that the groomer nicked his eyelid the night before and when I looked there was a chunk of skin missing from his bottom lid!... I was horrified!. They blamed it on him being severely matted which he was matted but not around his eyes!!!!... It clearly had nothing to do with it!!..and why did they not call me and notify me of this when it happened!!?? I would also like to say for the record that outside of his fur being matted he was kept clean and was healthy overall because I know that they will show emphasis on the whole matted thing!!...He just has a lot of hair that is easily prone to matting....When we got him home we noticed he had blood in his urine and it was very foul smelling. Come to find out he had developed a severe UTI from being left alone all night after having surgery and was not taken out to relive himself !!!! I was not aware that would be the case!!!... They should have informed me of this!!!!...Also the bill did not include any deductions for his injury and infection he sustained from lack of care and neglect. I only agreed to leave him overnight because I worked nights at the time. I did file a complaint with the better business bureau and they suggested to take them to small claims court which I did not at the time because of other priorities however we obviously switched vets. It does not matter the time frame at all!!!!!.... You are a liar when you say you paid to fix his eye!!!!! You did nothing of the sort!!!!!! He was not matted down to his skin!!!!!!! Why did he still have fur when I picked him up???!!!!!!! Lies!!!!! I want people to know about you!!!!!! His eye is damaged and he has vision problems now and the scar will forever be !!!!! How dare you compare the time frame!!!!! You never saw him again after I brought him back because of his infection which was a day or after his surgery!!!!! Liar!!!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM. I should have known better than to take my cat here after the fiasco with my dog. They cut a nail down to the paw so badly that the entire paw had to be bandaged to stop the bleeding. However they had a convenient location and I liked Dr. Beer, even if the rest of the staff wasnt great. My cat has been being seen there for severe allergies, which occasionally needs to be managed with steroids. She has had her blood-work, and was seen recently. But they refuse to refill her script without an appointment, despite Dr. Beer telling me I should keep some on hand, and to call back if I need more. Ive worked in the pet care industry and I have never heard of a vet requiring an appointment for every refill. Can you say $? This is the last straw after the catastrophe earlier this year. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Beer, and arrived to find out I would be seeing a different vet. We had to start from scratch, and then the vet gave our cat an injection that shes had previous reactions to. Which was noted on her paperwork. I didnt even find out about it until the receptionist listed the charges, yet they never refunded me for the injection! I was cleaning up cat puke for 2 days because of this. Now theyre telling me that they cant give me my records so I can take my cat elsewhere. Just like human records, your pets medical history belongs to YOU. A vet cannot hold records back for ANY reason. This among the questionable business practice of charging a fee for written scripts. Did you know you can get pet meds at most human pharmacies for a fraction of what they charge? Theyve also tried to sneak flea medication onto my bill before without my consent, and after I explained that I dont give my cat these meds because if her allergies. Care Pet Clinic looks economical at first glance, but they try to make up for the low cost in shady business practice. It should be renamed "We care about $ clinic".

Everything was decent up until the last year or so of our time with Dr. Beer. One of our dogs takes a daily medication, and every time I would refill, I would have to be the one to call in, asking if it was ready. The other dog went nearly a year overdue on a vaccination unbeknownst to us because no one ever told us it had expired. We only figured it out when requesting records for boarding. Even after physically going into the office every other month to pick up said medication. Once I informed them we would need the dogs records to move to a different veterinarian, they pulled the next prescription from the shelves. Also told me that we had multiple no shows (that they "just never charged us for before"). We wanted to leave because the staff just seemed unorganized at this point, but Dr. Beer seemed to still be on top of his game. But when picking up their records and the last prescription refill, he wouldnt make eye contact, spoke only to the staff about the no shows either directly in front of me, or behind a corner, but never once addressed me or even said hello. Everything just suddenly got very unprofessional to the point of simply being rude. Yes, he was inexpensive, and came with recommendations, but in our experience, just simply isnt worth it.
