I think a lot of people who have complained of DeWeese must have experienced concierge service before college. I have used UHS numerous times and when I got better insurance I went to private practices (4 local ones in the area) for health services and then came back. When Ive made an appointment at UHS Ive been taken back usually within 10 min of my appointment time and seen someone within 10-15 min of being in the room. Not the case for practices in the area as Ive waited 40 min or more just to be taken back, then on average waited another 15 min or on a few occasions 30 min to be seen by the doctor. Walk-ins almost always have to wait, learn to call ahead for an appointment or for students just book an appointment online. Most offices in the area dont even take walk-ins so feel lucky UHS does offer this service. Something I learned after feeling ignored, by doctors in private practice, was to not hold back when you speak to them. If you feel it is xyz then tell them and get pushy if you need to so they understand where you are coming from. How can they truly know your history in the 10 min they are with you? Once I learned to stand up for myself I havent had a single complaint about my doctors or NPs. In fact, I have had excellent service from UHS, one of the women at the front desk even offered to wait for me after they had closed so I could get health records I needed for a cub scout campout that weekend. No private practice has ever done that EVER. In terms of people complaining of the pharmacy not taking their insurance - welcome to the real world, and they do take the insurance that KSU offers their students, faculty, and staff, so if they are still on their parents plan, well then what do they expect? Not every pharmacy takes every insurance and some pharmacies have better deals with some insurance companies than others. This is the real world and mom and dad are no longer there to make the appointments, speak up for you when talking to the doctor, or pay your bills. Also most doctors in the area require you to make an appointment to get a prescription refilled. If you procrastinated (as I often do), they will call in an extra month so you have time to make an appointment. The doctors offices in the area have NEVER been this accommodating.

This health center is literally a waste of time, space, and Kent States money. I have had to go here multiple times over the past year and a half because I live on campus and dont have a car to go somewhere else that doesnt suck. My first visit was last fall. I bundled my sick self up and walked over from my dorm and they told me I couldnt get in for several hours and that I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork.. but I was confused because we already turn paperwork into them when we enroll our freshman year. But whatever, I was super miserable and needed meds so I made an appointment and fill the papers out. When I came back, I had to wait 15-20 minutes past my appointment time before I was taken back to a room. I then had to wait about 25 minutes before a nurse or doctor came in to see me. They made me do a mono test, flu test, and get a chest X-ray. I was very confused because I knew I just had bronchitis and needed an antibiotic and cough medicine. So they misdiagnosed me and gave me medicine that didnt help me get better. To make the situation better, they take like two types of insurance so I had to pay out of pocket for the prescription. Woo yay great. Obvi didnt get better, so I went back 3 days later and just told them what I needed and they finally gave it to me. Every experience here since then has been absolutely awful. I went there recently for a weird breathing problem I was having and they wanted to do another mono test and also do blood work. While I was in the room waiting for the nurse to come get my blood, I overheard the two nurses outside complaining about me being there, saying "its almost 5 oclock [thats when they close], why do they put in orders so late. I just want to get out of here." I didnt feel comfortable with that so I left and came back the next morning. Everyone here is rude and frankly not qualified to be here. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. FIND SOMEONE TO GIVE YOU A RIDE TO CVSS MINUTE CLINIC OR LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE.

This place was awful. Never use the pharmacy here. They only accept two insurances and even if you have one they wont take it unless it is your primary. They will refuse to give you pills without those two insurances claiming, "this is too much money, you wont want to pay for it." Literally the only reason they wouldnt fill my script, and they didnt care I had the money. They simply repeated what they said before saying, "this is too much money, you wont want to pay for it." The thing is I need this script more than anything cause it is one of my major medications. Im going to end up being hospitalized if I dont get this figured out before tomorrow. So take my advice, dont come here.

This place is AWEFUL. I have been here three times and never once had a good experience. The first time I was given medicine that didnt help, the second time I waited FOREVER then my doctor couldnt even diagnose me with BRONCHITIS which, LUCKILY, I knew I had. So I went to another health clinic near by and was immediately diagnosed and given meds. Now Im here for a wart treatment and have been waiting for 1 hour and counting. DO NOT COME HERE. DRIVE 30 MINUES AWAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO YOU WILL GET BETTER AND FASTER CARE.

I always have to wait for a very long time to see the doctor even tho I already made an appointment days ago. whats the point of making an appointment if I always have to wait for a very long time? I took some time off work to be in an appointment the other day and realized that it was completely a waste of my work time. They didnt give me any prescription and now my stomach hurt again. REALLY???! The people there are nice and friendly, however, i hope they can be more professional in terms of diagnosis and efficiency.

My experience here was not he greatest. My care was sufficient, however I felt that with this being a Kent State service to full time college students, it should be at a free or reduced cost, maybe even included in tuition, as a nurse would be at a high school. However when I went, they were not very helpful, and charged me $100 for a splinter removal. Needless to say, I will not be returning unless I have an emergency.

I was able to see multiple nurses, student doctors, and professional doctors when I walked in without an appointment. I got lucky because someone cancelled theirs. Everyone was extremely nice and their evaluations were thorough. Nothing to complain about!

I come in all the time and the nurses are so sweet. If you come in on time youll get done on time. Everyone is familiar with me so it feels very homely. The doctors are very nice as well and I have no complaints
