So where do you start, I met Dr. Katz through my mother, she needed Dental implants. It was a on going process as she need studs put into her mouth so as he could attach her new teeth, it wasnt as if she was a patient Dr. Katz and his hole team treated her as FAMILY! Called and checked on her after her surgery, and through the hole process. As you know Dental work isnt cheap But the team at State Of The Art Smiles worked with us on a payment plan the she could handle, (you know you dont find that alot). So her mouth healed and she got her teeth and she could finally bite into a apple, my mother had lost her teeth in a car accident when she was 18 shes now 73, so this is the first time in that many years she could eat what she wanted and REALLY SMILE. Dr. Katz made her so happy. So lets get to me Ive had great luck with my teeth no real bad problems beside the normal stuff. Well i broke a tooth, and needed to see a Dentist the first thought was Dr. Katz and his AWESOME team, and that is truly a under statement! They got me right in with no problem, well he wasnt able to save it. He told me it needed to be pulled, no big deal they worked me around there other patients that had appointments, he wasnt going to let me leave in pain!. We found some other issues while he was working on that tooth, a lot of them that i truly didnt know i had. We have worked together Dr. Katz and his team to make a plan to SAVE my teeth. I needed a root canal and some other thing, we sat down and worked out the reconstruction, of my mouth. (Was i SCARED yes) they all made it easy and made me feel as if i was at home and they really cared (this was the first time he had worked on my teeth) But i felt as if he had been my Dentist my entire adult life. I came back for another appointment and we started, i really dont know if i have the words to tell you what they have done for me. When i smiled it looked like i had no teeth in my mouth, Ive ground them down so much. When he and Amy held the mirror up it was all i could do to not cry, A 52 year old man doesnt cry at the Dentist. Dr. Katz had given me something i had always wanted but never had, a REAL SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant tell you how much he has changed my life, my feeling of despair was gone. I had been asked for the last couple years why was i always mad or frowning, i was doing neither i was just ashamed of my smile. Anne sat down with me and we worked out a payment plan and schedule, to finish the rest of my teeth, Ive only got the first top 6 done so far but, He has TRULY changed my life. I smile so much now it HURTS! I cant thank ANY OF THEM ENOUGH, and i am truly thankful that Ive meet the hole team i feel as if I am part of there family. Thank God for these people, that change your life that give you, or give you back something you lost or never had in the first place A SMILE!!!!!!! They are truly a god send to me and i want to thank them everyday when i wake up and brush my teeth (yes my Teeth) When i hear a joke and can laugh and smile, when i know if i have a problem a true friend is there, and will do what ever possible to help you!!!!! Thank you Dr. Katz And the Hole team there, they have given me my life back THANK YOU Burgess

Really gone downhill. Years ago, it was great - friendly, Dr Katz took the time to talk to you and get to know you and talk you though what was going on. Anne was hilarious and fun. But then the billing started to go downhill... We waited a YEAR for them to SUBMIT (not get paid, but actually SUBMIT) an insurance claim. That was right about when Anne disappeared, so I wonder. Anyway, the new office manager is nice, but doesnt really handle problems well. The billing is still all over the place, and I was shocked to hear that they wouldnt let me schedule an appointment because we had a balance due (that they took a year to even figure out how much was due), so we had to find cash quick because my husband was half way through an implant and his graft had a time limit... just to learn that the estimate we were originally given was either not for the whole procedure, or was WAY wrong because we are now estimated to owe over double what was originally told to us. Dr Katz has pretty much disappeared unless hes actively poking in your mouth. Ive had no communication about treatment choices or any input on what I want as far as sedation or other non-medical issues. I was really upset to be told briskly by the non-medical office manager that "Dr. Katz wont schedule your fillings unless youre sedated next time", instead of someone actually sitting down with me for 5 minutes and going over the options. Im extremely sensitive to medications, which I KNOW is in my file over and over, so being told that without any input at all bothers me. They were great years ago. They are not great now. We are finding another dentist. :/ EDIT: So my husband received an email from the office manager Kayla, asking him to "chat with your wife and consider taking the review down or giving us another review that some of the issues you had were resolved", however none of the issues have really been resolved. I have not been reached out to regarding this review (except through my husband, which feels very 1920s to me), and of course this office has all my contact information since I was a patient. Nobody has called, emailed, or texted regarding my review. To be fair, they did read this review and then re-adjust my husbands implant price to match what was originally quoted. However, he says he is still not thrilled with being a patient there - apparently they scheduled his implant, and now are trying to reschedule it? And he is very not happy with being used as a middle-man regarding these reviews. As far as billing, well... all I know is I went to a second dentist, who quoted me $148 for a filling that Dr Katzs office had quoted me over $500 for... Same tooth, same filling, same number of surfaces. Im not sure how that works, but I was very pleased with my visit to my new dentist, and see no reason to try to return to Dr Katz or his office. I tried to be extremely factual in this review, and all the facts are still true - the billing issues, the unexpected requirement for sedation, the financial strain we were put in. So no, I will not be removing my review, and here is the edit requested. Cheers.

I have been a patient of Dr. Katz for several years now. Initially everything was great but my last several visits have not been a good experience at all. I say this because his receptionist is unprofessional, rude, and verbally aggressive. She has billed my insurance company multiple times for the same procedures. In addition she appears to be disorganized and dishonest in ripping customers off their money by false billing. She does not relay telephone messages to Dr. Katz as I had called several times requesting to speak with him personally about billing issues with no returned phone call. Also I disliked the fact that a student from OSU was working in my mouth without asking me first was that okay. I found out during the procedure she was a student. I will note that Dr. Katz is very friendly and knowledgeable however I think he has no clue as to the level of unprofessionalism his receptionist displays. Overall I think Dr. Katz needs to get his office in order and then I would rate his services much better. I am speaking as a Masters prepared healthcare provider who knows from experience what its like to focus on the patients concerns and needs. January 2014
