This was the worst dental care experience of my life. I arrived on time to my appointment, and was first greeted (if you could say that) by a cold, unfriendly receptionist. I filled out the paperwork, and then she proceeded to ask me the same questions I had already answered in front of the entire waiting room--including personal medical history. The waiting room was cramped, with not enough seating for all the patients, and I had to wait for an hour. When I was finally called back to the exam room, I had to wait another hour before I was seen by Dr. Cohn. During my wait, I had plenty of time to notice how dirty the room was, as well as how outdated the equipment appeared to be. The woman who took my x-rays made a comment about how the dentist was in a "bad mood" today because they "were so far behind." I also heard a woman in the room next to me sobbing. Looking back, this was one of the many red flags that I should have just up and left. Finally Dr. Cohn came to do his exam. Being in my late twenties and having moved a lot, I have been to quite a few dentists. This was the first time the dentist has ever done my cleaning, and not an assistant. Dr. Cohn started aggressively scraping at my teeth and gums, and I was in immediate pain. Mind you I do consider myself to have a pretty high pain tolerance, and I do expect some mild pain and discomfort when going to the dentist, but this was excruciating. When he paused, I said, "That hurts a little," still trying to be a polite patient. His response? "Oh, it hurts a lot. But this is the only way I know how to clean teeth. Im cleaning as well as probing. Sure, if a hygienist was cleaning your teeth itd be gentle." He actually said that, with no apologies or no change in his method. While he continued to "clean" my teeth, I was struggling to hold back tears of pain. He also made comments about how if my husband and I had children, hed love to see how their teeth looked, implying theyd need a lot of dental work done because of my previous cross-bite and some of the work my husband has had done. After he was done, another cold, seemingly angry hygienist came over with a cup of water for me to rinse. My first few mouthfuls of water I spit out were absolutely full of blood. I was queasy and light-headed. I got out of there as quickly as I could, and as soon as I left the office, burst into tears. My gums were so swollen, I had some blood splatter on my face, and I was in a lot of pain. I have never been treated with such disrespect in any sort of healthcare setting. I immediately called Dr. Cohns office to cancel my 6-month check-up. The same, cold receptionist just said "Okay" and hung up, not asking me why I was cancelling or if I wanted to reschedule. No wonder the people that work there are so miserable. They have an awful boss, and you can better believe I will never set foot in that office again.

Its really sad but I can attest to every complaint in the preceding reviews, and still have more to add! Literally EVERY single time I went to that office, regardless of the procedure, I had to call off the rest of the day at work because I was always stuck sitting in a chair for hours! I foolishly stayed with him for about two years, and each exam, cleaning, filling, root canal, crown and post, inlay, repair, etc. would all require hours upon hours of time. As did the inevitable adjustments that were always sure to follow. I never left there with a properly fitted crown or filling, so I was always forced to come back, sit for still more hours, only to be met with, "Well, the crown is perfect so Im not going to shave that down anymore. Instead, Ill just drill a few layers off your other (natural enameled!) tooth/teeth so youll stop complaining." No joke. The sarcasm and insensitivity was ridiculous. He likes to brag that he can do everything in his office with his wonderful Cerac machine, and he does, but that in NO WAY means he does it well! Perhaps he should focus on one area for a while and master that. Although he also likes to publicize the fact that he is an instructor at Case Dental School, so in his mind, all of his work is without flaw. Two of the four crowns that he insisted I needed, fell off within 18 months, and a third just cracked straight down the side yesterday. When he finally agreed to replace the first two after my insurance company sent him multiple letters, the first thing he said when he came in the room was, "You had to have been eating taffy or caramel." Nope. It was plain old sausage. He informed me that I had obviously eaten some prior to, and thats what caused it to loosen up, because the glue he used was "$100 a tube, the best on the market" and it couldnt have had any other explanation. Amazing. And one last thing, (although I could go on for much longer) when it comes to insurance partnerships, he has none. So to use that as a threat if he messes you up is pretty futile. It just so happened I had met his mother when she used to work there as a secretary (lovely lady, btw-actually shes the only reason I stayed!) and I was able to pull at his heart strings a bit by mentioning her. Good luck to all you newbies, though. Moms not there anymore, and the one receptionist named Linda only has so much pull, so I wouldnt count on your experience being much better than the ones posted. Save yourself the headache.

So I was reluctant to schedule with this doctor because of reviews. But I usually just use reviews as a point of reference not a deal breaker but boy was I wrong. Let me say this I did receive an appointment through ZocDoc for the next day which is 4/8 for 10:15. The receptionist calls at 8am to say I could come earlier than my appointment time. I arrived at 9am and I had already completed my new patient forms online. They did take me back very quickly for x-rays. And so this practice knows who is writing this review I WAS IN CHAIR 6! After the x-rays they basically left me waiting. After the dental assistant came in the area about 5 times I finally asked her was she the one who would be performing the cleaning she stated no it would be Dr.Cohn and he should be in shortly. 45 minutes later after I listened to him with his other patients next to me that He KNEW HIS FAMILY PERSONALLY I MIGHT ADD discuss his schooling and the most recent family outing they had. Oh did I add he performed a root canal on him too??? So at that point I decided to leave. I went to the reception area and let me say they were super friendly and asked for any info from todays visit to prove to my insurance company that I didnt receive any services today beyond x-rays. At this point the front desk was very apologetic and here comes Dr.Cohen looking for the patient that was in chair #6. I explained to him everything and he had the audacity TO STATE YOU KNOW THIS IS A PRIVATE PRACTICE AND NOT A CLINIC? I told him I made the appointment based off this being a private practice and the only reason I was there is because my dentist of 5 years relocated out of town. Im gonna say that its because I look very young that he would make such a hasty generalization WHEN HE WAS WRONG and Im going to leave that fact right there because my mind is starting to wonder seriously. They did email me my xrays to take to another dentist! CHOOSE ANOTHER DENTIST !
