My 16 yr. old dog Chaweenie was an inside pet. He was so healthy. He never really went to vets. He went to be neutered, when he needed a flea medicine (comfortis) I went to Main st Vet for first time 4 mo, later he had to be put down. Chaweenie was always healthy it was hard. I knew he needed to be put down when he started having breathing problems. It was so hard because everything else worked fine. He could see perfect, he could hear perfect, he didnt have arthritis, his mind was clear he never changed. Right up to when he passed he was my baby Chaweenie. When I took him in the doctor told me his lungs were full of fluid, I knew then that I was making the right decision. The Dr. was amazing. It was such an amazing thing to be their with him loving him and being able to talk with him right up until he took his last. I told him I loved him and he was the Best Dog in the world and I told him to tell his brother and sister that I will see them all 3 of them again, I told him to save a place for me in Heaven. That I would see him first hopefully he would be there to meet me. I cant thank the Dr. enough for making this moment so beautiful and tranquil. The other day I opened my mail and it there was a plaque with Chaweenies name on it and his paw print, I will cherish this forever.

We had to take our 9-year-old cat here yesterday to have her put down, and they were extremely professional and caring. It was a Saturday, and our regular vet had already closed, but they helped end her suffering and for that we are grateful. It was my first experience with them, and though it was certainly not the best of circumstances, I just want them to know they did a good job and I know that that is probably the worst part of the job for some. It was also a nice touch that the vets assistant cleaned up her leg for us after removing the catheter; we had to have a cat put down at a different emergency clinic in Norman a few years ago, and they didnt bother to do that. I appreciate him treating our family member with dignity even after she had passed. I will also say that while nobody likes to pay to have their pet taken from them, their price was very reasonable compared to that other place we had to use before. Thank you again for taking care of our precious Ruby in her last moments.

This place is a sad excuse for a hospital. I took my 15 year old dog there when she was inbetween passing earth to heaven. She was convulsing, seizing, and couldnt lift a leg. I took her to the counter wrapped in towels with tears in my eyes, and the front desk man simply looked at me and said, "the doctor tied up right now, try a different clinic." There was a single car in the parking lot, basically they just dont want to deal with a dieing dog I suppose. During my drive to the next hospital my dog stopped breathing... When we arrived there was nothing we could do. Not that I expecting anything, but I atleast wanted her to be comfortable in my arms under medical supervision during her last moments. But thanks to main street vet, her last moments were in my passenger Seat. If you have a real emergency, make this clinic the very last option on your list.

I brought in my precious little angel. They treated him so nice, it turns out they gave him the wrong amount of medication for his size. He died 2 days after his vaccinations from this place!!!!! If I had it to do over again I wouldnt ever tak him here. I was in the waiting office and this nurse type I guess the vets apprentice maybe. Pulled her aside and I heard her say "incorrect amount" !!! I dont know anything about the vet world but I have raised 2 kids. And hearing someone gave my kids to much of a dose is of course going to make me go crazy..I called 3 different times and only received 1 missed call from the vet. I was busy burying my precious angel, she had done enough!!! She wasnt about to interrupt my angels burial!! She never even apologized!! And still stuck me with the bill!!!! Please please dont take your babies here!!!!!

I would never come back to this place under any circumstances considering my experience here. In general with every exam I brought my Rabbit in for, I felt that she really had no idea what she was doing, and wasnt sure about any advice she was even bothering to give. But, my last visit, I was very concerned about my bunny, and I barely got in the door, and set her on the counter, then Dr. Shaeffer-Ray was attempting to get a rectal temp on her before asking any questions or anything, but Kuhla, my rabbit died before she even had her temp taken. She was a very special being to me, and I was preparing to leave with her when I was stopped by a staff member to pay for an exam. What exam? Im not sure. I felt that it was unethical to charge for something they were unable to perform, not to mention the staff seemed uncompassionate in general.

I needed a vet for my dog, who had swallowed some arthritis medication for another dog (25x the normal dose for his size). Despite my delayed reaction in getting him there, they were friendly and never talked down to me or tried to make me feel guilty. They never once tried to push any more expensive precedures on me or pressure me into getting them, and they never once mentioned or asked about how I was going to pay. They were fair, they took great care of my dog, and there was no hour-long wait like at some other places (actually, no wait at all). I am going to write them a thank-you card, and have actually just about convinced my parents to start using this vet. That was, by far, the best Vet experience Ive ever had!

Dr. Rowland and all staff at Main St. Veterinary Hospital have been so kind and compassionate. Stephanie, RVT, was there when I first went in with my Scottie baby boy, Swift, who passed away following a brief illness back in November 2007. She was with me again during my very recent loss of my tiny Shorkie girl, Candy. These people love and provide compassionate and skilled care for their patients. I am so thankful for the kindness they have shown me and the care they have provided my fur babies/friends/companions. Their prices are reasonable (and actually less than every local veterinary facility I know of), and they have taken good care of my fur babies. Just wonderful people here! So thankful for them. ❤️

This is hands down the most compassionate, caring and well trained staff around (check out the bios pages). They always make themselves available for appointments that work with your schedule (with a very happy attitude). We had a tragic accident with one of our pets, once they found out we received a sympathy card with hand written sentiments from each of the staff.... still brings me to tears to think of this act of kindness! Each staff from the representationist, the vet techs to the veterinarians are always ready to listens and share in the joy of your pets and never have I felt rushed out if I need to ask questions. We are blessed to have Main St Veterinary Hospital in Norman!
