On March 7th, around 11:30 a.m., I was transported from Mt. Hood Legacy to Good Sam Medical Center. I had serious chest pains which had gotten progressively worse for the past week. At Mt. Hood I was stabilized and sent to Good Sam for a catheterization process whereby a tube is inserted in the femoral artery and sent up to the heart to scout out the damage. They found two arteries with 90% blockage! The doctors (Patrick and Wu) successfully implanted two stents as I lay half-awake on the surgical table. After the procedure, I was taken to a room in intermediate care where I shared a room with another man. Although attached to various tubes and a blood pressure cuff, the nurses made sure I was as comfortable as possible. My day nurse was Ashley...very caring, concerned, careful and professional. She made me feel like I was in great hands; and I was. In addition to her skills, the food served was wonderful, not what I expected from a hospital. And then, around seven p.m. my evening nurse, Leah came on duty. She, like Ashley, was professional, caring, thoughtful and concerned with my well-being. As an example, each nurse had to check my vitals quite often and they had to check the incision for any signs of leakage, swelling, infection, etc. The incision was at my groin, on the right side. While the lights were on in the room, it was easy to pull back the blanket see and touch. However, later, when the room lights were off Leah, still required to check every 30 minutes, silently came beside my bed with a small flashlight, pulled back my cover and made her assessment rather than flooding the room with the overhead light. I have never had such wonderful, thorough and professional care in a hospital. At a time when I was very vulnerable, the doctors and nurses allayed my fears and made me feel safe and secure. Thank you all so very much.

Good Samaritan is a fine hospital. Most of the staff that I have encountered have been very helpful & friendly. Their billing department? Not so much. They bill things wrong & make careless billing errors. They keep sending me bills for hundreds of dollars that they know I dont have & they send things to collections when insurance does not pay quickly enough, when they know that insurance is very slow. It doesnt help that some incompetent boob once got lazy & put it the WRONG BILLING INFORMATION, instead of looking at the actual card. Nearly every time I go there, they send me enormous bills with the wrong insurance information on them.

In the past 5 years, Ive had three surgeries performed at Good Sam. Outstanding care, rapid recoveries, fully computerized, and continually close attention. And I can compare it with other hospital environments in Portland because years ago I was a security guard for several of them - Good Sam is spotless, well-maintained, orderly, and super-clean. And early next year, I will be going there yet again for a fourth surgery.

I had my son at good sam almost two years ago. IT was a wonderful experince!! The nurses were attentive and the care was awesome!! The rooms were big enough for all of my family members and we had a GREAT view of the GArden!! I would have loved to have this second baby there, but insurance says otherwise, So I will see if the hopistal I have to go to next is just as good, but the have a high bar to reach!!

Stayed overnight for a hiatal hernia repair and care was okay at first. My doctor discharged me in the morning, but they couldnt re-confirm in the afternoon so they tried to keep me another night for no reason. I had a 2 hour drive home in constantly worsening weather. I told them I was leaving and they tried to blackmail me by sending me home with no pain Meds despite having major surgery.

I had a tubal ligation and ablation done at this hospital. I was very scared because this was my first real surgery and the nurses were very supportive and reassuring and took wonderful care of me and the procedure was done well and my recovery was very prompt. I had a very positive surgery experience and would highly recommend it.

Its nice to be able to take the streetcar to see the doc. The computer system has recently been updated to allow online viewing of la results - checkin can take a while, but they are in the 21st century, and this will save you time on future visits, and they can send lab requests without having to keep track of paper.

I had a full hysterectomy, and had to stay overnight. The nurses were great after my surgery. They were very kind and right there when I needed them. Dr. William Winter has the best bedside manner. He really cared how I was feeling. Thanks to all the Good Samaritan staff that took care of me.

Its nice having a hospital in the area, but I wish there were an urgent care here too. One night I had to run my wife to the ER since we couldnt find any urgent care nearby. Google said there was one in the Pearl, but it closed at 6:00. It was 10:30, so ER we went!

When I went for an MRI, it had to be rescheduled for about three days later. They were having trouble with their machine. The staff is very friendly, though. I like that you can catch the bus or the street car to get here. Its a short walk from Fred Meyer too.

I cannot give enough praise to Dr. Christopher Ritchie. I brought a relative to the ER who would have walked out if it hadnt been for his incredible ability to communicate with her in a way that extended her patience 1,000%.

I have seen 3 different doctors here, and all have been top-notch. The facility is modern and well-maintained, and effort was even made to provide natural lighting and green space. Conveniently located on the streetcar.

Went into the ER following a bicycle accident. Staff were very friendly and I received help very quickly. I was stitched up by Dr. Carrico and she did a fantastic job. Thanks guys!

The service I received at Legacy Good Samaritan was excellent all around. From the front desk to the ER, everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient in their service.

Continually ask patient questions they already have the answers to. As if its too much trouble to look at the forms.. Disrespectful, purposely inept.
