3am woke up and thought I was having a miscarriage. Heavy bleeding and feeling panic, I drove to the hospital closest to my home. There I was told me my placenta had detached and they had to transport me to TG. They brought me into a room and didnt explain anything to me but kept telling me I couldnt have water because I might need surgery. Felt like I was having contractions for hours and then finally at 7am cleared to not need surgery and told that I had a placenta previa and part of my placenta had became detached. They ran a few test and asked if I needed anything, I said yes water! They also offered pain medication because I was in quiet a bit of "discomfort"... They left to get those things for me, my mother arrived at 830 and I told her I was still waiting on water and medicine. She asked for water and meds. 930am and my mother got up and got me water herself. I was extremely dehydrated and kept chugging water. Around 10 or 1030 I finally got pain relief, after that they offered me morphine and perkiset at which morphine is not anything close to me feeling comfortable taking while pregnant and I took perkiset after being admitted. Got into an actual room around 1 or 2pm where they told me when they would be checking on me and what they need to do for baby. They were suppose to check on me at 3pm to check heart beat and never showed up. I buzzed them after 4 and they came in said they "got busy" or something at shift change. Any time after that I usually had to buzz for help and they would offer me pain relief meds ever 4 hours, generally I was taking 1 every 4-6 hours to control my pain when they were offering me 2 and also declined morphine. Stayed over night and left the next after noon. Doctor told me she wouldnt prescribe anything for pain and to take Tylenol. 1st night at home I could barely sleep, woke up in crippling pain, hard abdomin and cramping. Went back in as directed to be told that Im "fine", I asked again for pain meds, was told no, but they would give me ambian, now I have 2 toddlers at home waiting for me, how in gods green earth and I gonna wake up being on ambian? Told me to take benadryl then and 1000 gm of Tylenol. Now I am home, barely able to function, my body aches every where from clinching in painful cramps all day and the Tylenol doesnt work at ALL. Im beyond outraged. This hospital will give a pregnant woman MORPHINE but not a few perkisets to take home so she can continue her daily life without pain? I wont return willingly.

By far the worst experience Ive ever had in ER. The staff here is uncaring, incompetent, just completely clueless and extremely slow! I came here with a potential eptopic pregnancy in a lot of pain and a lot of bleeding. My doctor faxed over my paperwork earlier in the day so they would expect me not even with that I was taken into consideration. I had to remind the nurse that I hadnt gotten checked in yet and she clearly forgot and said I had a question, why would I have any question I needed to be seen by an OB RIGHT AWAY! Those were the notes clearly written on the fax my doctor sent prior to my arrival to the ER! Then I get someone who doesnt know how to draw blood and is moving the needle around in my arm my blood pressure begins to drop I let her know and she gets offended?! Go back to school and learn how to search for a vain before inserting the needle and just searching for it with the needle!!! Clearly a woman having a miscarriage is not that big of a deal for these people to get off theyre asses and get me the proper care. I needed an OB INSTEAD I GET A physician?? Who knew NOTHING about the steps he needed to take led alone what was going on so they sent me home on pain meds! I still cant believe how clueless this staff was. Maybe if Id show up with a limb hanging from my body theyd pay more attention and actually read my chart and inform themselves before coming to talk to me and asking me what my doctor said, clearly they didnt read the notes! Never coming here again and not to mention how filthy all the glass walls are and the floor hasnt been moped in ages its black from how dirty it is! Get it together Tacoma General or get SHUT DOWN!

I cant tell you how horrible this hospital and their staff is . I had given birth here in 2014 to my son and there was only one sweet nurse by the name of Debbie who took really good care of me out of 8 nurses . They were horrible and my son also became ill and I took him to this hospital and there was no nurse for 4 hours to check up on him and they were suppose to check up on him every 2 hours and the nurse before did not realize she didnt connect my sons IV correctly and it leaked everywhere on him and his body became cold and bluish . I came here again to the emergency because Im pregnant and having bleeding issues and they made me wait 6 hours to get into a room for only 15 minutes and was sent back to the ER room with the doctors and nurses telling me they couldnt tell me what is going on . I now have to probably wait another 2-5 hours for my results that I only went into there for 15 mins to get . Im so frustrated and disappointed in this hospital and I blame them for their lack of urgency that I may have lost my unborn child waiting 6 hours for them only to take me back and bring me right back out . I have blood everywhere and they see it yet they dont know what to do . I will never ever see this hospital with respect nor will I be referring anyone to this hospital . For this hospitals neglect and not taking anything seriously until its too late , I hope everyone who reads this takes my review into consideration . At one point in time I almost thought this was a great hospital . Too many mistakes and too often are they made .

I have never had a worse experience with a hospitals surgery and nurse staff. The building is expensive but the service is factual garbage-- mother was scheduled and wheeled into a 2 hour surgery at noon, while family was instructed wed get periodic updates and would be able to visit afterwards. Surgery took FOUR times as long as they said and we were left worrying without being contacted once! The attendants are just volunteers who cant provide any help past pointing to their burnt coffee and bathrooms. NINE hours later, left alone in a now empty waiting room never having received any updates and our requests for info ignored (these guys literally turned off the televisions in front of us and locked the vending machines) we searched and found a nurse who was willing to contact the OR. A physician came out and told us the surgery went fine but they were keeping mother in the ICU-- without explanation-- waved off the massive time delay as just starting late, and then blamed our lack of updates on the nurses. "Yeah thats not my responsibility, the nurses were supposed to keep you informed." She then told us the surgeon would be out in a few minutes, and if it was going to take longer than 30 minutes shed let us know... but never came back! Hour and a half later, still no communication or apology! All staff has left, doors are locked and it honestly feels like they are just waiting for us to leave. Our family will steer everyone we know clear of this hospital for years to come!
