Unfortunately, after my experience this weekend, Ill be looking for a new veterinary office. And yes--Ive got the right Town & Country, in Portland, Oregon. Weve seen several of the vets at this office in the last three years. Care has been decent, and Ive been satisfied. But now weve found ourselves in a situation where we must rehome our puppy. Weve worked extensively with her (no thanks to Town & Country for the blank stares, handouts on aggression, and puppy class recommendation--nothing more, despite repeat requests for help), and our situation is only intensifying. I called this weekend after the dog bit my daughters FACE. I explained our situation and asked for suggestions on how to proceed. We know very few people in the area and re-homing a dog appears to be incredibly difficult. Ive hit dead end after dead end. Surely a veterinary office would have a resource, right? Instead I was scolded for not having seen an "actual behavioralist" (I had literally begun to schedule through the humane society the day before, this is a work in progress) and finally the woman on the phone told me that, if I "wasnt willing" to put in the effort, Id probably just need to call the humane society to surrender. I hung up in tears. This is not a decision were making lightly, and our hearts are broken. Our guilt is strong. Id like to think someone we should trust to care for our pets could also be trusted to help us through something so difficult, rather than scold us for our choice to keep our children safe. UPDATE: After working with Dr. Andrew to find a resolution appropriate to our particular circumstances, I am editing my review. Yes--that phone call was a really bad one. But Im so thrilled to be able to come back here and say that Dr. Andrew reached out to help us, and that each interaction I had with him (and his staff) was reassuring, helpful, and kind. I believe our situation was a powerful learning experience for all involved, and I wont hesitate to refer friends to Town & Country.

Our dog Buddy (Chihuahua/Schnauzer mix) had come down with something pretty bad as he was not eating and also couldnt keep anything down, including water. We took him in to Dr. Bunning with the understanding that we were unable to spend a lot of money to treat him. Dr. Bunning complied and did the best diagnosis he could with the limitation that we placed on him. When after a day, we saw that Buddy was not improving with the antibiotics that we were giving him (he ran away from us to a solitary place as animals instinctively do when they are sensing that they wont live much longer), we agreed that it was our responsibility to have Buddy looked at again without any financial restrictions. We took him back into Town and Country Animal Hospital and when Dr. Bunning and his assistant saw him, they immediately suspected Parvo based on the symptoms that he was showing. When they tested him for it, they discovered that was exactly what he had. Understanding our financial limitations, the staff provided two different options to treat Buddy. One of these options required us to leave him at the animal hospital until improved, which was out of the question due to cost. However, the other option involved a "Care Package" that the hospital put together including A VERY DETAILED SET OF INSTRUCTIONS on how to nurse Buddy back to health on our own with an assurance that we could call them at any time if we ran into trouble. I am happy to state that Buddy is Parvo-free and back to him normal trouble-making self. Thank you Dr. Bunning and Town and Country Animal Hospital staff for not just caring about the animals, but also the pet-owners as well.

We took our dog in to get neutered and as first time parents to our puppy, we were apprehensive, worried, and everything in between. They really took care of our little guy and not only that but they also took the time to educate us on what we were missing (such as how to clean his ears properly) which they also did at no charge for us during the procedure (and clipped his nails as well). They went above and beyond to say the least. We asked if it was possible for them to buzz his little behind because hes a poodle mix and its impossible for us to do that specific region while hes awake which they did also at no additional charge. The vet and the assistants were all warm and welcoming, answered all our questions and were educated all around. We are so happy with this clinic, they are truly our number one as we have been in search of our forever clinic since we got him. Thanks guys! Forever grateful.

Wont go back. They require an exam for a simple shot. We have a dog that is not to have a muzzle off for everyones safety. The techs all know this. He is 6 lbs but can be very dangerous when he doesnt want his ears looked at or toe nails done. So we just keep a muzzle on him for safety reasons. The vet didnt think he needed it so she took it off while she had him out of the room weighing him. She then tried looking at his ears and he snapped at her and got nasty. I was so furious I had to take him back out to the car calm him down and put his muzzle back on. Took an extra 20 minutes at the appt. Had she just followed the notes in his chart it wouldnt have been an issue. Will NEVER go back. They are also way over priced.

I am beyond excited to have found Town and Country. Roland (my furry son) unfortunately has many medical problems and I am very particular on who I trust with his needs. When we moved to Portland we got bombarded with FLEAS ahhhh. My poor baby has enough to deal with, he does not need to itch on top of it. The ladies up front, took me under their wings after I had desperately called for help. Olivia made everything so smooth and simple and when I got there, the clinic was packed... but the sweet girl up front was not phased at all by how busy they were. She had a huge smile and warm welcome. I am so happy about this place and Roland is no longer itching :)

I got so lucky that this place is down the street from me. We had just moved across country and my old lady dog (15) was due for her yearly check up. She had been also having some lower jaw pain. I originally went here only for the check up because it was close by. I wasnt going to go back unless I liked them. The visit went so nicely, I was more than happy to take her back for the tooth extraction she needed. The vets were very friendly to me, and loving towards my baby. Theyre very professional, and didnt take long to assist what was wrong with her. They did such a great job we are taking our cat here next for her spaying.

I took a 6 month old healthy male cat to the vet on Babcock for a neuter operation. She had been seeing him since we found him. They returned a sick cat that almost died. I took my cat back to the same vet and she would not see him. Another vet saw him the two times we went back. She would not even check on him. After an additional 400 dollars and not getting better we took him to Town and Country. That vet did several tests and prescribed the necessary medicines. We want to publicly thank Town and Country Animal Hospital for saving our cat. You need a vet, go there for your animals.
