Hope Orthopedics needs to train their staff and listen to their patients. I was referred to Dr. Pressman at Hope Orthopedics for an appointment to follow-up a bone fracture I suffered from a miter saw. The Dr. himself seemed knowledgeable and convincing. He recommended taking out the 7 stitches in my finger (this was 7 days after the incident) and had a medical assistant come in to take out the stitches and size me for a finger splint. I was a bit hesitant to take them out as I wasnt certain the finger had healed enough for the removal to be appropriate. But, hes the doc. This medical assistant lacked training and eyesight. He was pulling about as hard as his 230 lb frame could pull on my stitches and still couldnt cut out my stitches! While he was gone to find a pair of Hemostats so that he could "pull harder" I used the tools he was originally using to cut out all but 2 of my stitches before he returned. No pulling on my part required. He then proceeded to fit my bleeding finger (bleeding from his pulling) with a splint. He first chose an incorrect size and placed it back in the box from which it came (AFTER HE PLACED IT ON MY BLEEDING FINGER). No washing, no disinfectant, just back in the box. The next size was correct. I addressed Dr. Pressman with the above issues I encountered and my worry for future patients. His response concerning his assistant was simply, "Ohh, he is usually really good." No intended actions beyond this comment were indicated. Last time I visit Hope Orthopedics.

I concur with other one-star reviews. Out of all my "providers," they are my least favorite. I only saw the doctor once, and since then theyve pushed me to see the "physicians assistant" who is not a doctor. Even when I requested and specified I wanted to see the doctor, they said no. The one I got was making me feel badly that he was having to spend time trying to get insurance approval on something. He kept emphasizing that he wasnt happy with all the "work" he had to do related to my situation. Um, thats what medical providers are supposed to do... serve the patients. This place seems to have the attitude that unless its a quick and easy visit where they can bill quick and easy, they treat you as if youre a bother. I did not appreciate being berated by the P.A. and made to feel as if he was doing me some sort of favor! Even when I showed him the insurance denial letter that specified he had not properly supported the treatment with chart notes, he kept arguing with me. Oh, and forget about getting a return call if you leave a message. The next time I need an orthopedic issue addressed, I would rather drive to another city than deal with Hope. They need to rename themselves, Nope Orthopedics, or better yet, Hopeless Orthopedics.

I got a bone fracture on my left foot. The doctor told me I can have a splint or cast either one is fine. I decided to put a cast. When I got home with the cast. My foot was hurting so bad at my ankle and the cast was put up to my knee it cut my skin! so I came back to the technician for adjustment. She said my cast was ok! (That was on Friday) but I when I went home I had to be suffered for the hurting. I tried to call the doctor but never can reach him. They told me to go to the cast room. I went there on early morning on Monday. I saw the technician who applied the cast for me. He said if he took off the cast and redo it I have to pay. it cost 500$! I complained about my foot hurt, the cast was so sharp cut my skin and up to my knee. I asked if I could have splint instead. He tried to call the doctor but no answer. I had to wait for the doctor advice but the doctor never answered me. So I decided to have my splint that I had at home.!!!!! I dont think they care for the customers. They just want$$$$$. If The cast was applied wrong I think they should fix it why I have to pay?

Dr McCormick was awesome. The whole staff there was awesome. Each appointment was on time, no waiting. Only one issue is that I am a Veteran and my surgery was outsourced to Hope. Everything went perfect and like I said Hope is awesome, but someone dropped the ball when it was time to have the cast removed and the walking boot fitted. Dr McCormick put in the order but the cast specialist said that they did not supply the walking boot for Veterans that we had to get it from my clinic. Well now im out of my cast with no support for the ankle with no boot. I just think that the office person who is responsible for outsourced patients from the VA really needs to look at policy and get everyone on board with regards to policy for veterans care from beginning to end. My knee scooter was ordered thru the VA. The walking boot should have been ordered at the same time and would have been if they would have communicated a little better. But other than that, Hope is thee place for Orthopedic care. The best Drs in the state. Caring, professional staff. Thanks for fixing me up!!!!!

Im very dis-satisfied with their staff and scheduling of their office. I have a five year old child with a broken fibula that needs a cast. This is apparently not an urgent or pressing situation for them and their staff have no sense of sympathy or expressing any concern on how this would be important and an urgent matter, to me the mother. A five year old child, move, plays, etc. When I called them after my daughter damaged her splint the receptionist advised me having her broken LEG exposed with nothing to protect it, apparently was okay. When i insisted she speak to someone, she come back on the phone to further tell me doctors arent available to see her. I have already been waiting a week for her to get in and get a hard cast on, when she was originally only suppose to be in a splint for one to two days! Im upset and seems like this type of care is common for salem doctors. Doernbechers or OHSU would have seen her immediately. This is ridiculous.

Ive always had a good experience at hope, had two previous knee surgeries, a previous elbow injury and now being seen for my foot. Granted the convenient care said to call hope for an appointment and it didnt work that smoothly due to my insurance. All it took was a call to my GP for a referral, I got a call from Hope the following day for an appointment the very next day. Dr. Holt was very compassionate and listened to everything I had to say, she was also very real and honest. I also saw Dr. Knight when I had issues with my elbow. Every doctor Ive dealt with has been absolutely wonderful. The people complaining about rude staff and that hope should be shut down are either being ridiculous or probably went in with a bad attitude or unrealistic expectations. Dont let their situations deter you from going to HOPE. I honestly, couldnt ask for better care and would highly recommend them!
