My mom was recently admitted there about a month ago. They just discharged her. My problem is that the facility discharged my mother way too early. She should have been sent to long term Alzheimers care. She is getting further along in stages of Alzheimers and is not going to improve. Im angry about how they handled this. My mom can be very difficult to manage. She gets a lot of anxiety and she knows there is something very wrong, that she is going to die and is frightened. She gets worked up easily, yells "help, help, help" or please, please, please" repeatedly. Sometimes she tries to get up from seated or lying down positions and she has almost no mobility so that is a hazard. She is extremely clingy and pages the aides and nurses frequently and this is difficult and draining BUT these people are supposed to be trained to manage even difficult patients-not just discharge them so they dont have to deal with it. I have come to the conclusion that nurses and aides arent getting enough training in this area. They started her on new medications that, over time, could probably have been adjusted until they found the right concoction of drugs for her. When they said they were going to discharge her, I was nervous and scared because I can see she is just going to get worse and now needs to stay in a facility. I am angry because now, she will probably have to be sent somewhere else and most of the time, it means being placed somewhere very far from home. Brookmont is only 12 miles so I could go see my mother often. Now, if she gets placed somewhere 30 or 40 miles away or more, I wont be able to be there to be supportive of her when she needs it the most. The nurse who is coming to the house now and the aide can see she needs long term care. The nurse from Bayada tried calling them repeatedly to talk to them about the situation but she got put on hold, hang ups and repeatedly calling them to only have the call disconnected. When she finally got a hold of someone, they blew her off. This is NOT professional. You are not just supposed to keep all the easy patients and get rid of the ones who are more challenging because it is inconvenient for you.

My mother was admitted for rehab but is also in the advanced stages of dementia and Alzheimers. She fell and cracked her head wide open and needed 12 stiches. I asked the staff to use the safety rails the hospital use on their beds and was told they are a hazard to patients so I asked what would be done to prevent her from getting out of the bed again and falling I was told nothing. So her safety meant nothing to them The Dr also stopped all her diabetic medication stating at this stage of her life she should be able to eat what she wanted I removed her from there and put her in Carbondale and 2 days later she was rushed to the hospital with blood sugar levels over 600 and in a diabetic coma brookmont never told them she was diabetic 2 employees were arrested for theft Brookmont should be shut down
