I would recommend anyone to Pottstown Memorial Hospital. The scenery is beautiful and located in a well accessible area. Visitors can easy access off campus food services nearby such as McDoanlds, Wendys, and much more. I have been here twice, with two different people. The first was my grandma, she understood no English, so I had to translate for her, needless to say, she was satisfied with the amazing services and advice that were provided by the faculty and staff. The second time, my own mother, who understood very minimal English. We entered through the Emergency Room, we almost immediately after signing in as a new patient we were taken to triage. With my mother having minimal English, I stuck along her side and translated for her, the nurses took a caring approach to this. The nurses and the physicians informed me that they had interpreters if we needed them, or I could help her throughout the night. The staff explained everything in a careful manner, and answered all our concerns. Later that night we were admitted. We entered the 6th floor, meeting the kindest nurses in the history of me being in hospitals. We were pleased with all the staff. We entered the cardiac section, where I met the kindest nurses. Her name was Mary, and along side her Doctor Patel. We spent a long time down there, and Mary was able to keep in entertained, and kept us up to date with every process. Dr. Patel on the other hand, reviewed our testing results quickly and efficiently. We understood it perfectly, and left with no concerns. The staff was truly amazing. Overall it was very successful, and every staff and faculty member, even the housekeeping treated us with respect and care even though we had a language barrier!

Took my 1 year old to the ER a few nights ago and we basically waited 4 hours to be told he had a virus and that Motrin or Tylenol should help him get better. First of all, why would you make a 1 YEAR OLD with a fever of 103.4 wait an hour to receive medicine, and then wait another 3 hours just be told "Keep giving him medicine and he should be fine"?! Thats not how you should run an ER especially if there are sick babies coming through there. They did an x-ray and swabbed his throat TWICE. Right before they sent us home, we were told his x-ray and lab results came back negative for anything serious. 4 DAYS LATER I receive a phone call from my sons pediatrician about his lab results from the hospital. Apparently he has strep throat. But the strep test only takes an hour to run. So my question is... Why would anyone wait for his pediatrician to tell us this when the doctor who ran the test could have given us the results along with a prescription for antibiotics before they sent us home? The job is not that hard. All you had to do was give us the results as soon as you got them. Instead of letting us think everything is going to be okay and then send us home, only to receive a phone call 4 days later with the real news. This is not okay at all... By far the WORSE experience ever. Maternity nurses and doctors are nice and everything but DONT EVER come to this ER. Id rather drive an hour to CHOP than take the 5 minute drive to this hospital.

This place in a DISASTER please do not go here! I was sent here because I was new to the area and the dr wanted me going to the closest location for possible appendicitis. I wasnt even seen for HOURS in which my appendix could have burst. When I finally was seen the nurse forgot to bring me pain meds, I was told I was having surgery first thing in the morning and I wasnt even put on the list. Luckily a icu nurse was filling in for a few minutes and took the time to call and see where the ball was dropped. I got surgery and pretty much was never seen again. I was told by the surgeon I could leave that night and no one even came by to discharge me so I again had to speak up and the nurse finally checked her notes and sure enough there was an email to discharge me. Never saw her again and some other nurse came in to give me discharge paper work and I left. I was never even given a pain reliever post surgery I literally walked out after surgery with nothing and took my own pain reliever when I got home. This place is a disgusting, dirty, neglectful establishment. Im used to going to Abington memorial hospital which is amazing compared to this shack. When I told friends where I went they were In shock I even stepped foot in that place! Stay away please!

The place is known by the locals as the butcher shop where people go to get well but end up worse if not dead for instance a friend of mines went in for routine back surgery fix a fractured disc long story short person develop a blood infection due to a staph infection that was discovered 10 days after going to the hospital complaining of discharge coming from the surgery wound. Home to be let go with a PICC line in her arm and and attach to ivs that were attached to bags of antibiotics day in and day out she took DD antibiotics by IV while laying in this Hospital the team that comes along and she goes home told that shes going to stay on the PICC line and mr. herself or medicine do IVs with the help of a visiting nurse that didnt show up until 11 in the morning long story short the surgery caused the infection that they couldnt find for 12 days basically. To call the whole ordeal was nightmarish would be an understatement of ridiculous proportions. Long story short my friend ended up having to go to rehab (aka) nursing home.... shes 36..... untell the staff infection was completely removed. PS the place has also been sued on numerous occasions.

Dear Pottstown Memorial, your service & ER staff are rude, ignorant, and lazy. Yup I said it and Im calling you out. When I bring my son to your ER for a "wee" little cut on his knuckles (at 9:15pm), there is NO one in the waiting room, and you make us wait 2.5 hours before a PA looks at his finger (and then treats my son like he is an idiot that hasnt had 8 surgeries in 3 years), and tell him "You have to lay down because I said so" instead of treating him like a person. You have to know that your service and staff are failing at their jobs. Every person working in this ER tonight should not have a job come morning. I have spent my fair amount of time in hospitals and I know it can be slow going, but this is negligent and flat out rude. 8/21/15 UPDATE: I received a call from Pottstown and the woman was very gracious. She said that the PA would be calling me along with the medical director to apologize. She said that they take bad service very very seriously and would not stand for it. I will update if they follow through, but I am appreciative that they took the time to call me.

My wife and I had our first child here this past week. Went in for induction and ultimately ended up having to have a cesarean. While the labor and delivery was a bit of a roller coaster, Im not sure thats anything we can blame the hospital for. Pre and post delivery - we cant speak highly enough of the staff in the maternity ward. The nurses were fantastic. Everyone in there was really great. They truly took the time to make us at ease, show us the ropes, and answer any questions or concerns we had about mom or baby. While we tried to learn as much as possible on our own, we also attended the classes the hospital offers in the months leading up to the due date. They made sure we were prepared to handle at least the basics of child care. While you cant learn everything there is about parenting without actually doing it, we felt pretty good about the education we were provided. Especially the hands on stuff in the hospital post delivery, so many good little tips from everyone. I have to say it again - the nurses were great. Really great. Many thanks to you all!!!
