Was not a good visit. My husband and I took our 14 week old bunny to see Dr. Sprowls for a well visit, before we could get him neutered. The girls at the desk were very nice and pleasant. The Vet Tech was also nice and informative. I had taken another bunny to Glenolden Animal Hospital before, but the Vet we use to see, moved on. When Dr. Sprowls came into the room she did not even introduce herself. We had not met her before. She never handled our bunny. She let the Vet Tech hold the bunny the entire time when she examined him. He got a clean bill of health which we had figured he would get. We had some concerns about his biting and being teritorial and she said the neutering would help with that. She never asked what his diet consisted of or anything about him. We had just got him from the breeder the week before. She showed no compassion for the bunny at all, she was just ready to move on to the next patient. She said she could neuter him when ever we were ready. I asked should we not wait until he was at least 4 months old and she said it was not necessary. Anything I have read said to wait until they are 4 months old. Our time with Dr. Sprowls was under 10 minutes. At the desk after I paid the $68.00 for the office visit (which is higher because of rabbits being considered a exotic pet), we got a written statement of what the neutering would cost. It was $100.00 more than what they quoted me on the phone. They gave a low and high figure of the cost. I had some questions about the neutering for the Vet and she was already with another patient. The doctor did not go into detail of what they would do during the procedure. They gave me something off the computer concerning it at the desk. Really!!! We were very disappointed with the service we received from Dr. Sprowls. The girls at the desk said the other Vet at the practice could also do the surgery which I felt weird about since we never met them. I felt very uncomfortable with Dr. Sprowls and would not have anyone neuter my bunny that could not handle him in front of me. If I would have paid by my credit card and not cash, I would have challenged the amount I paid for the service I received. We found a new Vet that I am very happy with and actually takes a interest in our pet and loves what she does and not just making money for doing her job. We will not be back to Glenolden Animal Hospital.

We had our baby bunny taken there for a checkup and to discuss having her spay. Over the 2014 Christmas break, we had the surgery, and I was TERRIFIED. Shes so little, and everywhere you read, rabbits are somewhat fragile and you have to be careful of them getting sick, etc. The Doctor at Glenolden was really great with her, and when we picked her up that evening, she looked well considering what shed been through. (The last pet/cat we had spayed was at the SPCA, and she was gaunt and sickly for over 3 weeks - I knew our bunny couldnt go through that). They gave me liquid food to give her (she hated it - having it force fed), and medicine to protect from infection (more hated syringes). BUT... she did GREAT! The hospital staff was wonderful. When you have a pet go through this, the family has a lot of work to care for the pet after the surgery, but the hospital called to check in the next morning, reminding me if I have ANY questions to call or stop by. At our one week follow-up/staple removal, they weighed her at my request, and said she was a little low on her weight. I couldve brought her back any time for a re-weigh, but within a few days she was eating much like her old self. Now, less than 2 months later, youd never know she went through all that. Her healing process and recovery were worlds apart from what the SPCA did to our cat, and Im SO grateful. This is a very professional, considerate place to take your pet. They are thorough, allow you time to really ask questions and listen to you and your pets needs, and the facility is really well designed and never smells like a litter box. Im so glad we found a fantastic new vet for our wonderful pets!

I began going to Glenolden Animal Hospital on the recommendation of a Rescue. Their prices are reasonable (compared to others Ive been to) and their staff spectacular. From the desk staff to the Vet, they are all compasionate and respectful. I have taken my guinea pigs there, and the staff has been very accomodating (with appointments) and honest with me (about diagnosing, treatments, etc.). The Vet involved me from the beginning, not only telling me whats going on but discussing with me & including me in decisions along the way. Furthermore, the Vet (Dr. Alison St. John) has called to follow-up to see how my one sick guinea pig was doing. It feels great to have the backing of an Animal Hospital that cares about your animals as much as you do. Also, on the finance side, they give you estimates prior to any treatments, so you arent shocked and awed afterwards and they work with you to decide on the best treatements for your pet, both for the pet and financially. They dont seem to want to do unneccessary procedures or poke/prode the pet, if they dont have to. In fact, theyd rather not. They have great hours too. All in all, I highly recommend the Glenolden Animal Hospital and Dr. Alison St. John.

I had been going to Glenolden Animal Hospital for several years, when another vet opened up closer to my house. I switched to that vet, but then came to regret it. That new vet misdiagnosed brain cancer in my cat as a benign tumor, causing my cat undue suffering until he died. That was after we spent $3,000 on an MRI and came home with no cat. Anyway, I returned to Glenolden Animal Hospital and am glad I did. I feel confident in the variety of doctors available there. They can perform many services and have always treated my cats with compassion and respect. I feel the vets there are highly experienced and competent. I feel much more comfortable at Glenolden Animal Hospital than with any other vet I have tried. They have always been able to see my cats promptly, and when I had to put down another one of my beloved felines, the hospital sent me the most comforting condolence card with her paw print and a poem. That brought me a tremendous amount of comfort to know that someone cared. Their prices are very reasonable and they work with credit and insurance companies as well. I highly recommend Glenolden Animal Hospital for anyone looking for a compassionate and experienced vet service.

Having been 15 year clients of GAH, we recently had our sick dog there for a visit with Dr. Alexis Mayer. After $240 for the first visit and 4 medications, then an additional $70 for a 5th medication (none of which helped the dog) we decided on a second opinion. We discovered that our dog had PINK EYE. GAH did not address this, loaded the dog with unnecessary medications, referred us to Opthalmology after our insistence that his eyes were getting worse despite what she prescribed and finished her sentence with "I wouldnt wait to take him to the specialist - he could go blind". Dr. Mayer blatantly misdiagnosed my dog and he suffered for almost a week at which point we thought we might have to put him down if he did indeed lose his eyesight. When I talked with Dr. Rieder, he of course sided with Dr. Mayer and refused us a full refund. Bottom line - stay away from GLENOLDEN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. The vets are incompetent, the staff is RUDE and their prices are through the roof.
