Well, when our family doctor told us to go to this hospital for an emergency ultra sound for daughter, I had high hopes for this place because it is a newer hospital. Needless to say those hopes were completely diminished. The doctor feared that my daughter was having an ectopic pregnancy and this is what we told them upon arriving at the ER. We were quickly taken into triage and then thrown right back out into the waiting room. We sat there for 4 hours waiting to get called back, when we finally did get called back into the ER room, we were put in what was called by the gentleman that took us back," the overflow part." This was a room near radiology and was behind locked doors. Anytime my daughter had to use the rest room, we had to get someone from radiology to let us out. The doctor who saw her seemed nice enough, but then we were told that she needed a shot and it would take another hour or two for that shot to be available. After questioning the nurse if we could just take her somewhere else the next day for the shot, the doctor came back in, and was very rude to her boyfriend, telling him that he needed to man up because it was basically his fault that she was in there in the first place. So after waiting another 2 hours, my daughter started having pain again and we rang the call bell, the bell was ringing for 30 minutes. No one came. I took a picture of the amount of time if no one believes me because they have it on the call bell system. The staff was not very friendly, we were shoved behind doors, unable to get out without assistance, and by the way the staff that was previously letting us out left around 2 AM so we had to try and rely on the call bell system and after the first time waiting for 30 minutes we just decided to knock on the doors until someone heard us. If I was in an accident 5 minutes away from this hospital, I would not allow an ambulance to take me there. i would travel either to Hershey or harrisburg. Never again will I step foot in that place. If they are trying to save money by not having enough staff well in my opinion you are running this place into the ground. After being there for nine hours we were finally able to leave.

I needed to get a follow up rabies shot and went to the West Shore Hospital on July 27....my first visit there. Staff was very friendly. Accommodations were clean. My issue is with nurse giving the shot. I was in exam room as nurse was getting needle ready when she accidentally stuck herself with needle and was bleeding. She then left and came back with another nurse who proceeded to administer the shot. When she stuck" the needle in my arm, it felt like she hit a brick wall and she jammed it in. Ive never felt pain and burning so bad. I made comment as such and she responded; you really have tough skin or its a dull needle. I was on my vacation in Delaware when I got my initial series of shots and follow up.(11 total shots). None of those shots felt like this. They didnt hurt at all. I was a little sore afterward. According to paperwork, after shots, my arm could be sore. To this day (2 months later) when I try to lift my arm in a certain direction, I get extreme pain and am unable to do so. I was at my family Dr. in September, and he advised it may have bruised the muscle; to give it more time. If I still have pain by end of Oct. (3 months), Im going back to Dr. for MRI. I dont know if nurse was inexperienced, in a hurry, or careless, but she obviously didnt administer the shot properly. And when I expressed my discomfort, I didnt think her response was very professional.

They were nice people, but my father wonders now if there is some medicare fraud going on there. So many groups of doctors come in and do small talk with him and a little medical talk, poor communication between the doctors kept one doctor from knowing what the other one said. Like after a bleeding test, the doctor said he was okay. Then another one comes by reminding him he will need a bleeding test he just had and passed. One doctor came by to tell him to make an appointment with him when he gets out. He handed my father his business card and went on his way. Now that doctor put in a claim as if he did some work when he just gave my father a business card! All these doctors come around in groups it seems so they can all put in claims of doing work with him which brings a five day stay a bill of $23,000! Nice people, uncomfortable beds and chillly heating system and a huge price. Totally scary. it has to blow cool air to get it down to stay The people were oh so nice! But all these doctors kept coming in to see my father and didnt seem to have much communication with each other. Like one whi came in after the other said the bleeding test was negative

On 3/22/2015 my Wife was taken to your ER via ambulance for a suspected heart attack. The immediate care and attention given was unbelievable and very Professional. The entire staff from the Doctors, Nurses, Techs and aids were very attentive and solely dedicated to her care. This includes from the moment she was taken in until the next day when she was discharged. There was no wait for anything, the test and lab work were immediate. The Doctor and nurses kept us appraised of her condition and what they were doing for her care. There was no missed steps. We were so impressed with the care, the facility and the eventual room she was admitted to. As she was admitted the care continued by the floor Doctors, Nurses and staff, right down to the cleaning people. You have created a climate and atmosphere of care and Professionalism in your Hospital and we appreciate having this Hospital in our area for our health care. Thank you so much for your attention given to my Wife. She is fine and did not suffer a Heart attack. But we are consoled knowing that this super facility is there for us. John and Susan Cover

Worst experience ever in a hospital setting I give 5 stars for all the nurses there after dinnertime and not even one star for 1st shift which is a shame because Im sure its not everyone on 1st shift! Patricia that works on the 3rd floor of the hospital I feel has an extremely negative catty attitude I would not suggest talking to her about anything that has to do with a loved one because I feel she blows things out of proportion and starts issues that dont need to be started which is not something you need when you have someone in for complications of the heart! I also have a personal pin so I have access to medical information and because we didnt not agree on the phone with the way she was handling issues she refused to give me anymore information because I wasnt POA mind you i signed his paperwork when he was admitted and have a personal pin to allow me access and the doctor refused to talk to me which Im sure had to do with Patricia! Completely unprofessional Im so disgusted with this hospital at this point I have always dealt with Hershey and have to say nothing compares to Hershey med...
