As a health care provider myself, I strive to provide my patients with the best care every single day. When it comes to my own health, I expect the same in return. It is a shame that the Geisinger organization has let the providers (doctors and nurses) who work for them down who are pleasant and work hard to provide their patients with the best care. I have no complaints about the doctors and nurses I have seen. However, I am extremely disappointed in the total lack of effort that is put into getting patients into the practice. I am a PATIENT. Not a client. Not a customer. This is my health. I have called three times to be scheduled for a procedure that was prescribed for me a month ago. The first two times I was told I would receive a call back because the department needed to review my paperwork. Then I called back to see what was taking so long (weeks) and I was put on hold twice, transferred and ended up leaving a message for someone to call me back (again). They never did. Not only that, the girl on the phone said that it made no sense why they didnt just get me scheduled... and then did the same thing the first two people did. Transferred me to an answering machine. If you do not want to do the job, dont prescribe it. The building is beautiful, the doctors are good, the rest is awful. I could go on but I wont. Do not be fooled by the pretty packaging.

I see Dr. Wylie he is excellent he is very easy to talk to and considerate of your specific needs when dealing with health issues. My review is not for him but the gisinger office in general. Ive had two instances where my appointment card was filled out incorrectly so that when I showed up for my appointment, card in hand, I was turned away from service and told my appointment was earlier in the week. I would have to reschedule because i had missed it. Even after I showed my card there was no effort made to get me in or on a standby list even though the office made a mistake. There have been three instances where this office sent my bills to an old insurance provider. This was after I specifically made sure my information was updated and auctually confirmed the member ID with the office staff in an attempt to ensure it was entered correctly. The billing department has been great at sorting out my incorrect bills so everything is always resolved eventually its just way more of a hastle than it should be. I have been useing this office for appointments for almost three years, there are some great five star doctors there, if you can get past the deplorable office staff.

Do you like to be bullied into medical screenings on the spot? I visited twice for a scheduled ultrasound, and both times faced tremendous pressure to have a mammogram on the spot (which my doctor had not ordered). When I said that I would decide later, I was told that my insurance would likely only cover it if I had it on the same day as the ultrasound. Im 30 years old. Recent research has been casting doubt on the value of screening mammograms because they often result overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Patients should have this risk explained to them before they choose to have a mammogram and should be given the opportunity to weigh the pros and cons. Instead I was threatened and treated as though I was being irresponsible. Dr. Bednareck told me I didnt know what I was talking about (verbatim), Dr. Policare accused me of reading pseudoscience; both refused to hear my sources (the New York Times, medical journals). If these doctors really want to treat their patients effectively, they should take patients concerns seriously, treat them with respect, and not promote mammograms - or any medical imaging - as if it is a perfect silver bullet.

Seriously geisinger mount pleasant is the worst group of doctors Ive ever dealt with my advise to anyone in the Scranton area go to any other doctor but them. Can never get ahold of them I have chronic asthma they denied me a refill on my inhalor and when I hurt my shoulder they wouldnt even let me make an appt to be seen about it told me to just go to work and deal with it even tho I work at a nursing home lifting heavy residents which just made it worse. Horrible doctors.
