HORRIBLE!!!!! I went to the ER for a problem with extreme back pain & MAJOR concerns about my health issue. I was convinced that I would be staying the night, I even brought an overnight bag! After I went to the registration desk and told them that I had NY health insurance(which didnt seem to be a problem)everything was rushed after that.Even though there were people in obvious pain & were there before me, I heard my name being called. They asked for a urine sample.ok no problem. Then I had to fully undress & get into a gown(BY THE WAY_THE SHEET THEY HAD LAID ON THE TABLE PLUS THE SHEET THEY GAVE ME HAD DIRT & HAIR ON IT) The resident Dr. & some 18 year old med student, that in my opinion SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE IN THE ROOM came in to examine me.The female resident Dr asked what my problem was, as I was explaining she had a puzzled look on her face almost like she did not believe me! So I said :"I know my body, I am having pain & I have never felt like this before"I then said"I need you to just look please" She listened to my lungs(wheezing)took my temp(99) and my BP was elevated(I run low)so right there it seemed to me that there is already a problem. As she examined me, which was VERY painful she said "OOPS Sorry, I used the wrong instrument" huh?!?!?!? Now I was really worried. As she examined me, which was in no way a full examination, she told me that everything seemed normal. I again said that I know my body & this is not normal for me. She shrugged her shoulders & told me to get dressed. At this point I was so angry at the lack of concern she had for my problem. I dressed as fast as I could & walked right out. I couldnt believe that they didnt even take my blood or do a sonogram to see if there was any type of obstruction. As I looked at the paper the so called Dr. handed me it said to follow up IN NEW YORK if my symptoms get worse. Then a lil light bulb went off, its because i have NY medicaid & they most likely do not think that they will get PAID!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!I marched back in there and went straight to the ER desk. NOT 1 person was there. I waited 5 minutes and saw 3-4 workers strolling back in from a cigarette break!!!! i asked what my urine was tested for and they told me to see if i was pregnant. THATS ALL!!! I have never in mu life been treated this way in an emergency room before! And did I mention that the same people were still waiting to be seen that were there before me. they had me in & out in 30 minutes! I am getting checked again because again, I do know my body and do not want to take any chances.IF there is something wrong Mercy hospital will be hearing from my lawyer. Especially the resident doctor!!! By the way, still in pain, they never addressed that at all. And I really do not think they even noticed or cared that i just walked out!!! Not a very nice way to treat a person who is in pain & out of state with no way of getting to my own doctor! I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. Oh, maybe if they have the RIGHT insurance plan they will be treated like an actual person with a problem. UNREAL!!!!

I went to the hospital for surgery. Checked in though short stay, the nurses were lovely. Headed up to pre op and they were just as nice. I have two great doctors who are going to be performing the surgery. The anesthesiologist was just as good. The operating room staff was perfect. I had all the confidence being at the Mercy Hospital. I was in surgery for almost 5 hours and was sent up to 9th floor with all my orders in my chart. Thats when this got ugly! I waited from 3p.m-5:10 p.m. before I was given any kind of medicine that I was repeatedly asking for. I was as sick as a dog. If I was a dog I would have gotten better treatment from a vet. By time my nurse came with a syringe full of medicine, wearing no name tag. I was furious and I just wanted to go home. They were rude and ignorant! No bedside manner at all. I insisted they call the doctor and tell her I wanted to go home because of the lack of care I was experiencing. My doctor let me go home. I signed my release papers and the nurse gave me NO home directions for care. She looked at me and said good luck. I walked out of there at 7:00p.m. I could hardly stand up. My husband had to help me to the car which was located on the fifth floor of the parking garage. I never should have walked out of there. I dont know how I did. The next day I was on the phone with the director of nursing who was horrified with this situation. I phoned all doctors to let them know what went on. I was later contacted by the patient advocate. And she said they will review this and call me to let me know the outcome. I want an exclamation. Onto why was there no care provided and how come I was not taken out in a wheelchair. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THE MERCY HOSPITAL! YOU ARE RISKING YOUR LIFE IF YOU DO
