I am a recent post-op patient and was directed by my surgical practice to go to the E.R. to determine if a tender pain I felt on my leg was a blood clot. I was put into triage very quickly, which was appreciated. I spent no time in the waiting room. However, I was then moved to a treatment area in the E.R. and dropped off. I overheard the triage nurse giving my report to the E.R. nurse. The E.R. nurse asked the triage nurse how long post-op I was, and the nurse said “I don’t really remember” and also she told the E.R. nurse that my symptoms were on the opposite side of my body from what I told her. This was alarming to me that she was giving incomplete and inaccurate information in report. Then I waited. I waited for 50 minutes before anyone came to my room. I understand E.R.’s can be busy, and short staffed on the weekend. However, I was situated close enough to the nurse’s station to hear and see them sitting and gossiping. I heard the entire conversation that my nurse had with a co-worker about how he was what he considered to be overweight because he drank too much whiskey, and ate too many tacos. I heard the staff discuss what they were ordering for dinner. I heard another staff member talk about a huge party he attended and heard him use profanity. And I heard when they left to go to the break-room. This all occurred before I was seen. At last, nearly an hour after my arrival, my nurse decided to come to the room and introduce himself. He made sure to say he wasn’t going to be there much longer since shift change was coming up, but he wanted to be sure to give my leg a look- like he was somehow doing a favor to me by doing his job. A blood-clot could be a life-threatening situation. To leave me sitting for 50 minutes without even acknowledging my presence was unacceptable. The degree of unprofessionalism I experienced will have me never returning to that facility again.

Went to the emergency room with a bad tooth and abscess on my mouth had been calling already trying too get in an appointment with the dentist but the appointments are so far out like months for out so I just went to the emergency room just to try to get some relief in an antibiotic I had a great PA like a great PA named Courtney. called up to the dentist and to see if they could somehow fit me in and they were able to to fit me in and they were able to get me in within an hour I went to the emergency room about 9 in the morning I left the hospital all together around 12:15 and that is from waiting for triage and then we are going up stairs to the dentist on going through all their paperwork and getting my tooth extracted when I tell you I had a wonderful experience at Wilmington Hospital and my tooth instruction was not expensive at all only paid $60 and that included my x-rays and everything so for everybody who wants to do it I prefer you to go to the ER and see if you can get in through the air because if not youre going to be waiting months to get an appointment to take us upstairs otherwise and now I have an appointment for 2 weeks from now with the dentist is easier for me to get appointments now

my wife and i are new in the area. one evening she had bad abdominal pain and we decided to head to the wilmington hospital ER. we checked in and after an hour she got triaged by a very nice nurse, but alas that is the end of our story. we waited for another 5 hours to get a reply that another provider is coming after 11 pm and we should wait more. the main problem was that the waiting area filled with homeless people carrying their blankets, removing their shoes, making noise while arguing with each other and almost having a fight while the security was not removing them. the environment was far from safe. never bring your family or your loved ones here. needless to say we walked away without seeing a doctor that night. her situation became worse and after two days we ended up to PA side, Paoli hospital, were they treated us as human beings.

My mother went to Christiana at the Wilmington site via the ER recently. She was admitted and once admitted, that was the end of anything except some testing and palliative care. The doctors ignored her because it was a weekend and she is quite old. No doctor came in to check on her, give an opinion regarding her medical condition or talk to her. One doctor did come in and asked her to raise her hands above her head, touch her nose and then he left. Obviously, he did that just so he could bill her for the "visit." Now, the nurses were wonderful. THEY did their job. The doctors however were painfully absent. Terrible care!

Very disappointed in the care I received. Though most of the staff was pleasant. I was surprised I was not given the option to see an MD just a PA. I had 2 unnecessary procedures done on Saturday. They found nothing, told me to go to my GP on Monday. I did go to my doctor. I had a cellulitis mass that should have been treated with Antibiotics immediately. Would have been nice to have gotten them 2 days ago. Instead now I run the risk of the oral antibiotics not working. My need IV antibiotics. I do not recommend this ER.

I got something in my eye on Saturday. On Sunday morning I woke up in pain and my eye wouldnt stop watering. I went to Wilmington Hospital ER because I thought the debris was still in there. I was checked out thoroughly, my eye was stained to ensure all debris was removed, and I was given complete instructions on what I needed to do to allow the eye to heal. Everyone was very nice and professional. I was in and out in less than an hour!

I go to the internal medicine department on the 5th floor. Room 5W67. Dr. Jackson and the entire staff are the best. And every department I have visited their has given me world class care. If you havent seen the new hospital you should come their for a visit.
