My 9 year old pit bull was having pain in her face/head area for a week. On saturday, she started having more extreme pain, and cried throughout the day. I called sunbury animal hospital, and asked if i could have her seen that day. They told me I would be charged with an emergency fee, which I was totally fine with. I just knew she was in pain, and wanted her to be checked out that day. I arrived for her appointment, and waited for the veternarian to see her. When the vet came in, I told her the symptons my dog was having....crying when her face/head was touched, and not being nearly as active. She was just laying around, seeming uncomfortable and in pain. I told the vet that she was not herself, and I knew something was wrong with her. (shes 9yrs old and has been my baby since 6 weeks, so i know how she normally acts). the vet felt her all over, starting with her back and then looking in her mouth and touching her head. She told me she seemed healthy, she didnt have an answer for me, and if my dog had more symptons to bring her back in. The vet did not do any tests, nor blood work. I got charged $92.00 for an emergency visit. None of my questions were answered, and I was left leaving with my dog in pain. Four days later, I took my dog to a veternarian in Danville. I told the vet about my dogs symptons(the same thing I told sunbury). The vet thoroughly checked out my dog and manevered her haead in different ways, and found out she had a slipped disc. The vet did xrays and blood work to confirm her diagnoses and gave my dog the treatment she needed and deserved. The only thing I can say about Sunbury Animal Hospital, is that it was a Saturday, the vet wanted to get out of work, and didnt care or take the time to figure out what was going on with my dog. They didnt even offer to do blood tests or xrays! Sunbury just had me come in and scooted me right out the door, not trying to figure out the problem with my dog. They did not care my dog was in pain and didnt try to figure out why she was having the symptons she was. Im very angry that Sunbury Animal Hospital didnt do anything to try and figure out what was going on with my dog. I feel bad that she had to wait a few more days to be diagnosed with her slipped disc, and I feel terrible that she was in all that pain. The vet didnt recognize or care what was going on. Obviously, Sunbury Animal Hospital doesnt care about your pets health...they are only there to make money. Before you take your pet to Sunbury please do some research!

Im not sure what happened to this place. When they were at their old location they were wonderfuCDl. You could get you pet seen right away and they cared for your beloved animal. I had many a family pet there and you were so caring and compassionate. Now, at their, new location, its weeks before they will see your pet, but will immediately find the time if you are willing to pay the premium emergency price even when its not really an emergency. Pay attention to that statement... They have no time to see them regularly, but will instantly find the time if you pay the highest price!!! Right there with that alone it tells me they are all about the money and could care a less about the animal. Not to mention. never calling back or returning calls they say they will make. On four separate occasions now, (most recent an hour ago) Ive called back a day later asking why Ive never been called only to find the "note" that was supposed to be put into the file was never put into the file so I was waiting for nothing all the while my pet suffered. Four separate times in the last two years!!! Maybe they bit off more then they could chew with this new bigger building and have to really sick it to their customers to help pay for it or something. But there is a massive noticeable difference with them now. After being with them for over 20+ years, Im thinking of looking to move on. Sunbury Animal Hospital, if your reading this, sometimes bigger isnt better. Youve lost your way and youve lost your compassion. The animals and the care always came first and money came after. Your priorities have changed for the worse and you are no longer reliable or compassionate and thats so noticeable its alarming. Ive noticed this with how quickly you go through doctors and medical staff alone. Why are all of your doctors that were they for decades now gone? Maybe they dont even want to work for your organization anymore and that should be a massive warning sign to all of us now. Very few of the good doctors remain and its next to impossible to even see them anymore. The wall was loaded with the pictures of your eonderful doctors on staff. During our last visit there was only two. To me, thats worrisome. So in the end, if your looking for a veterinarian do you homework. There are much better options then this "Pet Care Factory" that this once wonderful place has become. And thats truly a tragedy because at one time I would have praised then to the moon and back.

I first started going to Sunbury Animal Hospital for my cat because it was close, but soon realized some things are worth a longer drive. I stopped going because it was always expensive, the staff was rude/condescending, and I never seemed to get to see an experienced vet. It was always vet techs who were younger than me (and Im not that old) to see my cat instead of the doctor in charge (never saw one in multiple visits). So deciding to use a different animal hospital was ok with me, however this is not the case with my 87 year old aunt. Heres what happened. After getting an opportunity to spend some time in Florida for a work opportunity, I decided to give the cat to her. She needed the companionship and i wasnt sure that going to Florida wouldve been a good situation for the cat. My aunts house was a wonderful fit for the cat. So while I was away, my aunt called Sunbury Animal Hospital to set up a summer cat grooming (the cat has long hair, so a summer haircut is annual ritual). With my aunt being elderly, driving is difficult for her as Sunbury Animal hospital is the closest grooming. When she called, she was rudely told that they would not groom the cat unless I sent them a signed letter explaining that I gave the cat to her. (Note, grooming is not a medical procedure, and anesthesia is never used on this cat for grooming because the cat stays calm. If you, as a human being, go to a salon or barber and try to present an ID or signed letter before a haircut, theyd look at you like you were nuts, however Sunbury Animal Hospital refused to give a haircut to a CAT, even though they had all records of its care) . When my aunt told them she was 87 years old and she couldnt drive to another groomer they wouldnt budge, sticking to theyre ignorant policies. Of course I did not send them their frivolous letter, and the cat got groomed at a much better facility with some transportation help from friends. If youre looking for a vet in the Sunbury area, try Furry Friends or either Selinsgrove clinic. Dont waste your time and money, especially at the new McVet Sunbury Animal Hospital is building on Rt. 890. You will likely pay a lot and have a bad experience too.
