Sams Hope

Dr. Katie Kropp is a caring and compassionate veterinarian, second to none. Here is our story, which would not have had a happy ending if not for Dr. Kropp. 5 year old Lily, a Corgi Blend, completed her heat cycle a few weeks ago. Last week, her mom arrived home to find Lily bleeding profusely; shortly afterwards she started refusing food. Lily lives in Central PA, which is out of our service area. (Sams Hope provides veterinary care and pet food assistance to low-income elderly, ill, disabled, unemployed pet parents in an effort to reduce animal suffering and keep pets out of shelters). Because of Lilys urgent situation, (we suspected Pyometra, a serious and life-threatening infection in the uterus), we made a decision to provide assistance to Lily, as she would certainly die without our help. We took to Google in search of a veterinarian in the area, checked the reviews, and found one veterinary hospital that stood out from the rest. The reviews told of a very compassionate veterinarian; someone who really cares about animals and treats them as if they were her own. Since it was after hours, we sent an email, and planned to follow up in the morning. First thing on Tuesday morning we received a phone call from Katie Kropp, VMD, from Companion Animal Hospital of Tamaqua, in response to our plea for help to save Lily. Without asking for a credit card, or our ability to pay the bill, Dr. Kropp told us to have Lilys mom bring her to the hospital immediately. A few hours later, we received an email from Dr. Kropp, telling us she verified Pyometra through an ultrasound, stabilized her, and performed emergency surgery. She was doing well and was to spend the night at the hospital and return to her family the following day. Thank you, Katie Kropp, VMD and Companion Animal Hospital of Tamaqua, for saving Lilys life, and for helping Sams Hope keep pets and their people together. You are a wonderful and compassionate woman!

Dr. Kropp is the most amazing vet I have ever been to in my 18 years of pet ownership and moving to 3 different states. I travel an hour to see Dr. Kropp instead of visiting closer vets because she is so worth it. To start, the office staff are kind, compassionate, and show interest in my dogs progress when we come for an office visit. The nurses are competent and thoughtful. Dr. Kropp is a gem. She thoroughly explains procedures, shows incredible compassion for my dog, and she did something that has NEVER happened at ANY vet Ive EVER been to - she gave me a complete quote on the procedure my dog had to have, without my asking, showing full understanding that as much as we want to help our animals, cost is a true factor in care. I truly cant say enough good things about this veterinary practice.

I took my 8 week old kittens to Dr. Maue and Dr. Kropp. They were both very sickly suffering from panleukopenia. They gave our babies the compassion and love they needed, and all of the best medicine and special food to give them a fighting chance at surviving. Very professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately one of the kitties lost his fight last night, but his sister is still stable and has a shot! Thank you companion animal hospital for taking care of my kittens as if they were your own!

My dog had to have surgery twice. Money was tight and we were able to make payments. I will say this about all the staff and Dr Kropp, they seriously care about animals and the parents to the pets over money. Ive been to veterinarians and they either over charge or they are disrespectful and thats not cool in my book. Thank you Dr Kropp for taking good care of my dog Kuma. Our Molly needed to have bladder stones removed. We found companion animal hospital online. We only wish we would have found Dr Kropp years ago. We called and they had Molly in for surgery the very next day. We are moving to Tulsa Oklahoma in 2 weeks, I hope to find a vet and staff as caring as Companion Animal Hospital is. I have been seeing this vet since they first opened. I love that I can put my full trust in her. She treated my rescued pit-bull mix for cancer, treated my chinchillas, and now treats my current rescue pit-bull mix and all my foster dogs.
