I am coming to all of you for some help! After several attempts to contact the appropriate departments, nobody has returned my calls and I feel this needs to be done. A few days ago my brother (will stay unnamed to protect his privacy) was taken via ambulance to the Wilkes Barre General Hospital. I of course rushed down to b with him and to make sure everything was done right. To be HIS advocate. My brother has a few compounding mental set backs, one of them being Asbergers Syndrome. This is a higher functioning form of Autism. It was a long wait, as to be expected. At the 3 hour mark his level of agitation was not far from becoming a disaster. I kept him calm and reassured him he would be seen. His 1st nurse, Allison K**ck, right from the start spoke to him as if he was 1/3 of a human and with great attitude in her tone and language. They were busy, so I understood. Kind of. He was in the hallway as there were no rooms available. There were beds lined up in every hall. When the waiting took longer than he expected it to he started venting to basically the walls at first. I know all too well how to handle this situation. I directed his attention to me, allowing him to get frustration out to ME. His tone lowered and he was about 5 sentences away from feeling as if everything was okay again. Amy with Registration spun around in her chair and said "I will not sit here and let you talk about MY hospital like this. This is not a doctors office and you need to stop" Now, this was the worst thing that could have happened. She heard me trying to avoid a total out of control situation and yet insisted on making it worse. I blocked my brother from seeing her and said "please do not do this. I am begging you to not talk to him right now. He just is venting, he NEEDS to vent right now" Over and over, she ignored my pleas and every time I got him to stop talking, she would speak directly to him and it was back to square 1. I explained that he has Asbergers Syndrome and doesnt always understand from conflicting feelings. His nurse decided she would also join in. She said to him "you obviously do not understand how the Emergency Room operates so I will explain it to you. I kept trying to get the both of them to stop. I was literally begging them both at this point. Over and over, saying that they are going to create a very bad situation that I would not be able to counter-act if they keep doing this to him. I was literally shaking!! "I am begging you to please stop before you set him off. I am trying to keep him calm and I do not know why you keep trying to agitate him" Amy, said directly to me with a smirk on her face "Well, he surely does not act like he has Asbergers" My jaw dropped! I had tears in my eyes when I said "what exactly does Autism look like?" She laughed at me and turned her back. When I later tried to explain again that this entire situation was not necessary she said " GET AWAY FROM ME NOW". I have given this Hospital ample amount of time to respond. This nurse and Amy from Registration absolutely should not be holding their jobs right now. Unacceptable on every level. So I am coming to YOU ALL with permission from my brother who is asking for this to be seen by the world. PLEASE SHARE!!!

This used to be a two star review unfortunately when I lost my patience I must have lost the other star well. Due to unfortunate events and lack of better judgement after no longer being able to utilize the OB that my wife and I had chosen to deliver our son we had no choice but to find another ob I ended up finding a doctor that was very good to us he was dedicated, knowledgeable, honest, and has great bedside manner. This Dr however functions mostly at Wilkes Barre General Hospital. Luckily with the grace of God and this Dr my wife and I were blessed with a beautiful baby boy that was delivered at Wilkes Barre General Hospital. Unfortunately we have to stay due to my wife being admitted. After dealing with the nursing staff I had realized that we should have found another Geisinger doctor seeing as how its the only other hospital in the area that is within a reasonable distance. And even though it has its flaws like everywhere else it is a well-rounded hospital. A good majority of the nursing staff at least that on the third floor which is labor and delivery can be rude , obnoxious, and downright mean. It leaves me to ask the question what is wrong with the healthcare system that owns the hospital are the personnel here overworked, underpaid that they do not like their jobs? Or is it the fact that they are burned out or maybe even the possibility that their personalities arent right for that of a medical professional . In my honest wholehearted opinion I do believe that this hospital needs much improvement . And it is not just the hospital itself multiple other affiliates or satellite offices have similar staffing issues with rude and short tempered employees. If you have the option save yourself the hassle and find a better hospital you know I have much more to say about it however it would take me all tonight and a good portion of tomorrow to explain my disgust with this place I leave you with this if you value your life unless you have no other option choose a different hospital. The veterinary clinic I take my pets to has a much better attitude towards their patrons and are a hell of a lot more friendly knowledgeable and caring.
