I had gone to Palmerton Hospital with stabbing pain in my lower abdomen. I was tested for pregnancy and STIs and sent on my merry way. The pain persisted, so this past Tuesday, I had an ultrasound done at my GYNs office which revealed a 5cm partially solid mass in my ovary. I was scheduled to have an MRI done on Monday, but last night (Thursday), the pain became intolerable. My GYNs office told me to go to the nearest ER and have them do an MRI. From the moment I walked into the ER, I was treated like a drug-seeking junkie - despite the fact that I very clearly stated that I didnt want ANY pain medication because Ive taken everything from Advil to dilaudid at home and nothing even makes a dent in the pain. I was grilled by both the nurse and the doctor about why I have various narcotics in my medicine cabinet at home. I informed them that they were left over from past surgeries. They asked what the surgeries were for, when they were performed, who the prescribing doctors were, etc. Pretty much the only thing they DIDNT ask about was what my favorite sexual position is. Look, I understand there are a lot of drug seekers out there, but when someone whose BP is normally lower than 110/70 has a BP of 139/86, youd think it might occur to them that my pain is legit. Then the dr starts poking and prodding at my stomach and asking if I have any pain there. He seemed surprised when I said no. He also asked me repeatedly if I had been experiencing any vomiting. Answers not gonna change from the last 5 times you asked me, dude. He then informed me that they dont have an MRI. Ill repeat that. THEY DO NOT HAVE AN MRI. He said he was going to give me a shot of Toradol and send me home with a Percocet. Not a prescription for Percocet. A SINGLE PILL. Dr. walked out of the room and said to the nurse, and I quote: "Send her home, shes fine." Lets put it this way: PMC is a better hospital than Palmerton. Yes, they really ARE that bad.

I wish there was a 0 stars. Broke my foot a year ago and they said "are you sure its broken?" As I stared at my huge swollen foot. They also charged me $5 for two generic Tylenol. Could have gotten a whole bottle for a buck. Took 4 hours to get out of there because they had to send my xray to someone in Pittsburgh to read it because no one at the entire hospital was competent enough to read it. My fiance went after he injured his shoulder at work and they said "oh theres nothing on the xray, youre fine." As he sat there in agony. This is a great place to go if you want to die before they bother taking you into the er. The staff is rude and lazy and talk about the patients loudly violating so many HIPPA laws its disgusting.

The doctors are evasive and no one will take ownership of family concerns and fail to return calls and pass the buck down to subordinates when there are grave concerns about mishandling of cases. Repeated attempts to address problems and missteps on the part of the doctors in charge of my mothers case and having to do their own job by providing information from their own doctors in their own health work is inexcusable negligence and the lack of follow through on any "promises" or "obligations" is alarming. I do NOT recommend Palmerton if given ANY other options.

If I could I would give this 0 stars. A couple months ago I went in with elbow pains due to a fall. They didnt give me any pain meds or make me keep my arm still or anything. They just started poking my arm and asking does that hurt. Then they finally took me back for an x-ray. After almost 3 hours of waiting they came in and said its broken. They put me in a splint and sent me home. The next day I went to the orthopedic to get a cast. He did an x-ray of both elbows. He said there was not a break in sight by comparing my x-rays.

If I could get lower than 1 star, I would. Absolutely awful. My father was deemed "sane" when he was talking to my dead mother, asking me why I dont call him(after I had called him 3 times) and claimed that the hospital was blocking all the phone numbers except Dunkin Donuts on his phone. He was released without so much as a plan. The only redeeming thing about the hospital is that most of the Drs look like Simpsons characters. Thats pretty entertaining at least. And we wont talk about the other 3 visits he had here..

Went their seeking emergency care on the weekend and it was an honest to god ghosttown in there. Horrifying place with a spooky vibe.
