EVERY time I went to see Dr. Latzka, I waited 45 minutes or more to see him. He was very nice and personable, so I did like him. I have type 1 diabetes and had seen an endocrinologist, but I had to leave that practice once I graduated college. Dr. L told me he felt comfortable taking care of my diabetes. I was just getting adjusted to having a new doctor, and I forgot to get a new prescription written at my first appointment. This prescription was for insulin (which I NEED to live) and they refused to call it in over the phone. It had only been a couple of days since my last appointment and I refused to go in again and wait an hour. Each month I went to him, I had to get labs done which costed a ton. After doing that three months in a row I just stopped. For the 14 years I saw my actual endocrinologist, I only had to get labs done TWICE A YEAR. This office is out to make money. I recently moved out of Spartanburg, and I went to get my prescription for testing strips filled. If the doctor had known anything about what a T1 diabetic needs to do, he would have written my prescription so the strips would have lasted 2 or more months, but instead I was running out in less than a month. I called the doctors nurse and left THREE voicemails about getting him to re-write my prescription. They were never returned. In fact, in my whole ordeal I NEVER spoke to his nurse. One of the options on the phone list is to be charged $20 to have your prescription sent in over the phone. I was told by the RUDE receptionist that they would do that for other cases, but not for mine. Then I told her to just transfer me to someone who would refer me to another doctor and she told me that they didnt do that there. Finally I got a hold of someone who was actually helpful, Jennifer in referrals. Although it is not her job, she worked out my prescription ordeal and got it sent in to my new pharmacy AND referred me to another doctor in the same day. Although I truly do think the doctors here are very kind, they will do anything to make money off of you. They have long wait times and rude phone staff. Just talk to Jennifer and get yourself to another doctor.

I had been attending Westgate Family Physicians for a number of years, but Ive finally reached my limit. Wait times are long. The staff is impatient. And the doctors spend little time with you. I started seeing Dr. Bailes. However, a few years ago my meetings with him became more and more rushed. I felt like I was a burden if I asked him questions. He was in and out of the room within three minutes. Meanwhile, I would get charged full price for an appointment (sometimes at an "extensive session" rate if I asked too many questions). This is after I had to wait 30 minutes (at least—sometimes an hour-and-a-half) after my scheduled appointment time. I then switched to Dr. Latzka, who was better at first, but then the same thing continued. Quick appointments. Wait times long past my appointment time. And a nurse and staff that seemed all but helpful and more often than not very cold. Well over a decade ago, when I started attending, many of my family friends were also going there. Thats not the case now. Since theyve started dropping clients they started requiring me to come in every six months for a follow up appointment. I only take one drug, Prozac, which Ive taken off-and-on since 2005. Suddenly, they started to require me to be seen for refills of the drug, and charging me for a full doctors visit each time. This is completely unacceptable, and a cheap ploy from them to get me to spend more money at their struggling office. Im not willing to put up with this anymore. Apparently the concept of "Do No Harm" only applies if youre willing to pay them enough money on repeated (and often useless) visits. Ive since scheduled a visit with a new doctor that comes highly recommended form many friends. Save yourself some time and trouble and dont visit this place.

I have been seen their since I was child. It has dramatically changed. although they portray a Christian based facility and may in their personal lives, the ethics of the work do not reflect it (no matter how many bibles they give you). I had an appt. and was told to come back for alternative treatment if my symptoms did not improve in a couple days (Saturday), that was on a Monday. I came to the office told the doctor I had seen that i had been seen earlier in the week and no changes had occurred. The on call doctor that day, told me he could not do anything else or change my medication, this was after i told him i was instructed to come back. Not only was a charge an additional fee for coming on a Sat, i did not receive any different information or help when i was instructed to come back, i was also charged a regular appt fee plus extended appt charges. On a different occasion, i was placed on antibiotics, the doctor told me to use them and if i did not feel any better just to call, and he would give me a stronger dosage. Again i did this, now they are saying i have to come in for an appointment, i told them i did not need too i was instructed just to call for a stronger medication. This office has turned into an unethical money maker. I am very disappointed and i am looking for another internal medicine doctor.

I see Dr. Bailes and have been for several years! Hes a great physician he has treated me for numerous conditions an performed procedures such as cortisone shots in my shoulder an fingers! He has always took very good care of me! But dont even think he is one of these Drs that will give you anything you want because he want, I really admire him for being so blunt and to the point! He will tell you like it is! Always be honest and up front with him and he will take excellent care of you!!

Always greeted cheerfully by front desk when I walk in. Great support staff! I have seen Dr. Bailes since 2002, and on occasion Dr. Hess. They are both great.Concise, caring,answer questions, and great call back turnaround if you need to speak to a nurse. Great atmosphere, peaceful office.
