Everytime we go to this hospital we regret it. My son was tramatized back 4 yrs ago after a febrile seizure and cpr...they were rough, shoved me out of thr way and slapped my hand when i tried to give my son water he was begging for. The lack of care and esteemed medical care is very lacking. They treat you like a stupid moron that doesnt need info about what is going on with your own body...wont inform you or allow you to have info so you can have some decision making for you or your children. My miscarriage was handled horribly...no information about what was going or reassurance..no info on if there was just a sac or a baby or a false pregnancy..just a "threatened abortion" and a shove out the door telling me to call an OB and get my hormone levels checked again. The billing department is also awful. They have so many separate bills from different departments. The ultrasound and imaging never even sent us a bill and then started calling us and threatening us with collections! They had our right address and info but never bothered to send a bill. They tell you things and go back on them...i was told that if I paid off my ER miscarriage bill of $1200 or so by Sept. I would get an additional 20% discount. Call in Sept. Try to remind them of discount...they argued with me for 30 min that I was misinformed. I told them they better start recording and retraining their people to not make promises because I want them to hold to the 20% extra off. (I felt they were overcharging me anyways for barely using any facilities and sitting in a room for 2hrs and talking to the Dr. and nurses once). I was supposed to get all paid confirmation letter. Never came. Today I get a bill for $247 the 20% I was given off last time. Now i have to fight this discount again even though I was promised it and giving it...and paid off the bill right there. Lets not even talk about the billing debacle with my 1st sons birth where we paid off a bill and they kept billing us. And they also tried to bill us twice with my birthing center birth for tests they did for the birthing center. Took us a year to clear that bill. I dont care if I am or anyone in my family is dying...i would rather be life flighted to Vanderbilt or drive an hour to Vandy and their Childrens Hospital than to EVER go back to Cookeville. I better have only minutes to live because that would be the only way i would ever consent to going to Cookeville Regional EVER AGAIN. I have lived many places and been to many OK and not very good hospitals...but this hospital is continually been my worst experience almost every time by far... If you have a choice...I would not go here.

I wish zero stars was an option this is the most absolutely terrible experience Ive ever had at a hospital. My primary care doctor sent me in to get emergency intravenous antibiotics. Got checked in the staff and nurses were great, but it turns out they knew more than the idiot doctor on staff. I question if he even has a valid medical license. At check in I showed the hourly worker the infection told him what I needed per my PCPs orders and he agreed. The nurse that came into the room agreed. But the idiot doctor didnt even begin with what I was there for. Instead he decided to question why I was on so many medications and started badgering me about them. As I stood there holding my cane in a gown that was too small I proceeded to tell him that Im obviously disabled and have a laundry list of medical problems and that I was sent by my PCP to get on intravenous antibiotics immediately. I then showed the wound and without ordering any blood tests or even calling my PCP he made the snap decision to put me on another oral antibiotic and to purchase over the counter soap. At this point I realized I must be dealing with someone that got their doctorate online at the University of Pheonix. I called him an idiot and requested another doctor. There was a PA on staff but no other doctor. I left and drove an hour and a half went to a Nashville ER was rushed in and they saved my life the infection had started spreading and my body was attacking itself. Stay away from Cookeville Regional Medical Center because apparently the Doctors there take the term "Medical Practice" literally!

There are too many HORROR story experiences from this ludicrous facility, and not enough space for writing every nightmare Ive personally been through. The WORST PROBLEM is the EMERGENCY ROOM. I have been seen by only two ER Physicians that have shown genuine concern and a desire to ease my pain, and get to the source of the problem. Thanks be to: Dr. Robert Paasche, who recently treated me. The nurse, was kind, which I must say was rare. Avoid if possible, Nurse: Heather. And thanks be to Dr. Strange. He was another fine Dr. I had the privilege to be cared for, not only in a professional and medical manner, but compassionate, and concerned. How appropriate his last name is: Strange. It is pleasantly STRANGE to happen upon two professional Doctors, and rare to find even only ONE nurse in the Emergency Room at CRMC, who knows the definition of: NURSE:. To treat with "special" care. I pray God reveals the self-behavior of the uncompassionate nurses and/or Doctors, at CRMC ER, and especially Ms. NURSE PATROL/CONTROL on staff in the ER entrance. I would highly recommend avoidance of this unprofessional Emergency Room, and even be very careful about calling the Emergency Medical Services of Putnam County. Please also be aware: Now at the main entrance of the Hospital, there are no longer push buttons to access the floors of the hospital, as they are now under lock and key service.

My father was transferred there from Crossville for emergency surgery on 3/10/16 . I live in Florida and i could not be there for him in person. I called at 4:30A.M. on the 12th and the receptionist and the nurse assigned to him, ( i think her name was Mary, he is in 431) was very informative and professional to me ! Management shold feel proud to have such positive team members on staff ! I also work at a large, busy hospital in Tampa where i am the Lab Supervisor, my title is M.T., DLM, ASCP , and have inservices regualarly on exactly how i was treated ! You guys passed ! Lol ! I have been in this profession for over 25 years and i feel i have just about seen it all ! So many patients are quick to criticize, but so few take time to actually show gratitude ! *WELL I DID* Thank you Cookeville Regional for taking such great care of my father during his illness ! I only have one of him, so thanks again !!! Keep up your great attitudes and work ethics ! You never know who will be affected by a team member just simply being compassionate ! A reassuring voice on the other end of the phone line when you are 800 miles away is very nice ! It affected me more than you will ever know ! Maybe i will be there very soon to say it to your faces ! Thanks again, Gene Warner P.S. If i ever move to Tn., i may need a lab position ! Lol
