My mother brought my three year old cat in there yesterday for a fractured leg. Most of the employees were nice and listened with open ears. However, the only problem was the price of the surgery, my mother could not persuade my father into spending 1,000 dollars on a cat. But, for my mother, putting our beloved cat down for just a broken leg was not an option. So my mother decided on amputating the hurt leg instead. She explained to two of the nurses. One understood my mothers choice and went to the desk to check on the prices of amputation. My mother explained to the other nurse that my father wanted to put her down and that she would not. Instead she asked for pain meds for our cat and signed a document for what she thought to be a document to take her home. The nurse seemed to have only heard the part where my father wanted our cat put down and gave my mother an euthanization paper instead. My mother saw the nurse scurry and thought that she was going to get Penelope to bring her home (our cat). The same nurse returned shortly after leaving and talked to my mother. My mother asked for an appointment to get the cats leg amputated and the nurse realized her horrible mistake. She took off down the hall to stop the put down, but she was too late. While the vets did apologized profusely and gave my mother no bill with a free cremation, it cant give back my cat. Perhaps, if the nurse who condemned my cat to death, would have listened then maybe my cat would still be alive. I know mistakes happen, but youve never heard off a child being taken off of life support because of a stupid nurse not listening. Also, my mother wasnt going to pay even if you still charged her, she wouldve just left the lobby. Heres two tips to this clinic, (1) hire a better nurse and (2) have nurses offer the client the chance to be there with their pets when they are put down; because the latter would have surely saved Penelopes life. Im never ever letting any of my cats go there again; no matter what the circumstance. I apologize if I somehow offended anybody. Sincerely, the kids who were very upset to find out their cat was put to sleep by mistake.

From the moment Dr Wilcoxs front desk answered the phone until our dogs treatment was complete our experience was exceptional! We had been referred to surgeons in Houston and a family member recommended that I call Dr Wilcox. The front desk staff are friendly and doctors and his assistants are knowledgeable and wonderful. My dog immediately took to Dr. Wilcox and thats not always the case with him adjusting to new people. Its just a little over an hour drive to Groves from Baytown and it was well worth the trip. I would classify my dogs treatment he received in the top 1% in the country and Dr Wilcoxs provided that care at about 33% of what the other surgeons quoted me. If our animals ever need surgery outside the scope of our local vet, rest assured we will return to Wilcox Veterinary Clinic. Hes one of the best!

We inherited a t-cup chihauhau who could not move her neck without severe pain. We tried steriod shots with our vet and at first they helped. Our vet told us about Dr. Wilcox in Groves and said he was a really good vet surgeon who he would recommend. We tried putting it off but it got to the point that we would have to put her down or have the surgery. Our dog had to have a full neck surgery. I am so glad we choose the surgery. She is about 2 weeks postop and doing great. The hardest part of the surgery (besides the bill) is keeping her from doing too much. The staff was really helpful and they referred me to a interest fee credit company that I could pay out the bill in 18 months. She gets her stiches out this week and I would diffinately recommend Dr. Wilcox.

I took Hopson in last Wednesday for a surgery consultation for degenerative disc disease. Dr. Wilcox performed his back surgery later that evening. I picked him up Friday afternoon and he was walking and doing great! It was worth the long drive and the money we paid was more than worth it. Hopson is acting like a puppy again. Hes back to his old self which we are so pleased about. Dr. Wilcox came highly recommended to me and I will be sure to share his name with anyone that has pet surgery needs. Thank you Dr. Wilcox--you are amazing!

Do not take your pets here. About two months ago I took my dog who I had for 11 years and the so called Doctor said that my dog had an immune deficiency. My dog had enlarged lymph nodes, blood in her eyes and smelled like she was rotting from the inside out that she would be fine taking these meds she gave me. Then gives me an large estimated for a biopsy they could do on her nose. My dog passed away on Saturday. Really!!! If she didnt know or wasnt sure then dont tell me its one thing and to give her the medicine

In 2010 I took my 4 pound miniature Dachshund to Dr. Wilcox with what was more than likely a very much needed surgery. Like many Dachshunds, they have back issues and my little baby girl had a slipped disc. She looked so tiny in his hands and he even stated that she was tiny but that hed worked on smaller before. The prices were very reasonable and the care was outstanding!! I would highly recommend Dr. Wilcox for any surgical needs. My baby has made a full recovery!

We have a Maltese that are prone to a floating patella (knee cap). We were referred to him from our vet. We met with Dr. Wilcox and he seemed very tired. I was nervous from the start when we discussed the surgery on her knee and went forward. I waited for a few months (before posting anything) and at first she didnt put a lot of weight on it, but now she is healthy and strong. A few months have gone by and I must say I would recommend the good Dr.

Do not bring your animal in there. If you do get a second opinion if they tell you surgery is needed. Nurses are great. Its a shame they cant go to a better establishment. I gave a 0 to the vet and 5 stars to the nurses because they are nice and try. I will never set foot in the place. I had an experiance in there. If you are thinking of bringing an animal in contact me, I will tell you my story and then make your decision.

2008, our pup was shot and we were getting estimates of close for $4k for the surgery locally here in Houston and estimates around $600 just to amputate the leg. A friend recommended Dr. Wilcox.. Well worth the 2hr drive. He patched her up good as new for 1/4 the cost of other places.. If he were closer he would be my regular Vet. Yall that live closer are very lucky to have him.. Andrew

The Wilcox Clinic is outstanding! I normally see Dr. Hanson. Hes performed nothing short of a miracle saving more than one rescued kittens life. Regarding Orthopedics, Id say hes the best around here. He has also provided excellent care to all of my other pets, and to some of the pets that belong to some of my neighbors and friends. I would definitely recommend them.
