Let me start off by saying that Dr. Osborn herself is very personable. At the end of the day though, I needed a doctor to diagnose my cat and thats what was most important. Unfortunately, this is where Southwest dermatology failed. My regular veterinarian suspected an auto-immune disease in my cat (pemphigus foliaceus) but wanted to get a 2nd opinion so sent me to SW. I called SW and got in the same day once I told them my vet suspected PF which is a very serious disease. One look at my cat and she said oh thats food allergies. I asked but what about this PF and she told me she doesnt have the "classic symptoms" so it cant be. Didnt even suggest a biopsy (which is the only way to confirm PF). I would have been 100% willing to biopsy but that was never offered as an option. She just assumed it was a food allergy and I was out of the office in about 20 minutes with prednisolone to help her inflammation and prescription food until this "food allergy" was out of her system. Fast forward a follow up appt and 2 MONTHS later~I just knew this wasnt a food allergy as my cat was getting worse, not better and insisted my own vet get a biopsy to confirm what is going on with her. And surprise, she does indeed have PF, NOT a food allergy whatsoever!!! I was so annoyed and irritated with SW that my poor cat had to suffer another 2 months of agony w/out a diagnosis. That is ridiculous. I think they deal with so many allergies there that they just assumed thats what my cat had, horribly wrong. Luckily I have a wonderful vet clinic now that is working w/ us to get this disease under control. (True Companion Animal Hospital in Spring~HIGHLY RECOMMEND) She is on triamcinolone and Atopica now and is doing wonderful, no thanks to SW. I could have lost my cat as she was so horribly sick by the time we started really treating her for the disease. I was just very disappointed and needed to submit a review in case others are told their pet has a food allergy that doesnt get better....try looking up PF, its a horrible disease but is the most common auto-immune disease in cats and dogs. UPDATE 2/6/15 I am just seeing the response from the business now and I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately I lost my Onyx to the battle of pemphigus. It was after some time that I finally wrote the review as I didnt want to write a negative review as I was mourning what was a wonderful life until the disease took hold of her. I just want people to be aware of this disease.

I brought my dog to Southwest Veterinary Dermatology 2 months after moving to Houston. I already knew he had allergies and when I saw how they quickly escalated in Houston I knew we had to get to the vet right away. I found Dr. Osborne to be very friendly, caring and compassionate. My first visit lasted 1 hour or more. She listened with intent to my dogs history and we discussed different courses of action until we agreed upon one. We visit every few months now for checkups and maintenance medications. My dog is not 100% allergy free, but he has improved to a comfortable state. Were both happy about that! Yes, a specialist like Dr. Osborne is not cheap, but I DO feel that I get what I pay for! I feel she is very thorough in her exams and very knowledgeable--much more knowledge of allergies than any general small animal vet weve been to! Lastly, if you get frustrated that you call & no one answers, call back. Youll understand why once you go in. They give the in-person customer 100% of their attention which is refreshing. :)

I took my dog here several times and he kept getting worse and worse. I pressured the vet into performing the skin test because she felt it was only a food allergy. Once we received the result he was started on allergy shots and still was not improving but getting worse. So bad in fact that we were forced to a different vet. Come to find out his skin infections were resisting all treatment because of what he received from Southwest Veterinary. My dog was in such bad shape when I left for a different vet he had hardly any hair on his body left and oozing sores all over. Now I have not paid my final bill with them because of the level of care he received there. They will not share how allergic he is to stuff with my new vet either. So they are not concerned about your pet but only if the check clears. I am also reporting them to the animal review board for their poor level of care and refusal to share at what levels my dog is allergic to items. If you love your animal do not take him here.

my cocker spaniel was diagnosed by SWVD with allergies. after a year and a half of biweekly office visits, loads of medications (primarily antibiotics, most of which we discarded because they made him so sick), "cultures," special diet which we had to purchase at this location, a couple of thousands of dollars, he was only getting worse--sores and scabs all over his body. we went back to our regular vet and pleaded with him to help us. he had ringworm! out of control. after approximately 6 months of treatment with antifungals (never suggested by SWVD) and hexachlor-k baths and conditioning, all of his skin issues disappeared. i do not recommend this clinic. we and our baby are happy now. i only gave this one star because i could not "post" unless i added it; otherwise, one star is too much.

I am very glad my primary vet referred me here. It is a long drive but after dozens of different treatments the Dr Colombini diagnosed my pet with airborne allergies and proposed several treatment options ranging from extremely aggressive (and expensive) to less intensive (and more affordable). I picked one somewhere in the middle and my dog has been doing very well on the allergy shots. It really increased his quality of life and I can tell he is a lot happier. They also dealt with him very well he can be really tough to work with but the staff handled him very well.

Dr. Osborn and her staff are the most patient, caring and loving individuals I have ever had the pleasure to take my yellow Lab to. Chamois was stinky, itchy and scratching to the point we could not take it anymore...her allergies and ear infections were out of control. They treated Chamois with a tender hand; and made me feel I was not the worst "Mom" out there... I can never say "Thank You" enough to Dr. Osborn and the wonderful ladies that work with her- Chamois, Molly and Rocky send their heartfelt kisses too!

Im not just an employee of Southwest Veterinary Dermatology, Im a client too! =) This just isnt a wonderful place to work, but both my English Bulldogs have received top notch care here. Dr. Sarah is wonderful about taking the time to explain what is wrong with your pet and the best way to treat the underlying issue. I have worked for Dr. Sarah Colombini Osborn for almost 15 years now and have watched her save dogs that other vets had given up on. I couldnt be more proud to work for her.
