It is disheartening to learn of negative experiences that other Veterans have had. I feel most fortunate in that I have been treated for various maladies and I have always been received timely and have given the attention all Veterans deserve and thus far have been provided with the necessary treatment expediently and effectively. There have been occasions where outside consultations have been necessary, requiring a VA voucher, and that has been handled efficiently. Therefore, I have nothing but praise and appreciation for the services I have received. I do understand that the medical staff is understaffed and under duress, but inspite of that I have no complaints. A special note of appreciation for the services received by Dr. Rafael Rafols and Special Nurse Diana Ramos of the McAllen Clinic. Roy G. Valadez

Its a joke! MRIs still take 6months to get approval, because they wont just give you a Fn waiver, the doc last time I was there didnt even see me ... nor did even the Fn nurse!! My shoulder was screwed so bad I had my hand stuck in my belt, and the nurse just came to the window and told me to go to the pharmacy to pick up some motrin and a sleeping pill. I just walked out ... next thing I know the meds come in the mail! When the F did I tell them to mail me meds??? (Never) Im absolutely changing off my team, but in reality Im probably never going to this clinic again! Im more willing to make the drive to Harlingen and actually feel like someone gives a F, than ever go back here!!! (And I literally live within 300yds of this place!!)

With new facility.. things continue as bad or worse. Customer care or satisfaction.. is definitely not a concern or priority.. wonder why so many Veterans give up and end up homeless or suicidal??? Heres your answer.. come in for service. Welcome/challenge all of you criticising this entry. Personally dropped off an MRI request from a private provider on 3 February. I followed up on request - once, twice, 3, 4, 5 ... lost count -over - a few months time period. MRI request finally got processed on JULY. Similar thing for a back surgery. Voucher finally got processed but without pre-op procedure... useless... time wasted.. frustrating cycle... having to deal with lower back pain.

Went in as a walk in at 10am didnt leave until after 6. I went due to a extreme amount of pain in my knee. It didnt get addressed or anything instead got the run around. Now got a follow up in 3 months on something that doesnt even concern why I came to begin with. They still have issues its no wonder why they have been voted consistently as the worst in the nation. Its horrible at best.

I like the volunteers and some of the people around there like th clerks in the front. My doctor on the other hand is just to casual. The last two times i went in she didnt even see me. SHe hasnt checked anything that i have asked and just made assumptions based on her opinion. I think i will as for a new provider or ask to go to another doctor outside the va.

You cant ever get a hold of the actual clinic by phone. I dont even know why they have a local number if it just directs you to the hotline. I transferred here and they forgot to change my address when I moved and my medicine kept going to my old address. Really mixed service. Sometimes youre helped right away other times they have no clue how to help.

Very bad service this lady with the white team doesnt do anything she will just look into the computer screen and do nothing while patients are waiting standing up, who knows maybe those patients have a bad back or knees or what ever but she takes her dam sweet time to attend to those patients. We need to close down this useless V.A clinics.

I have been to this clinic numerous times. It is hit or miss. Sometimes the service is perfect and other times it is like the one star posters describe in these reviews. There is no consistency. I dont know if they deserve the minimun one star or five stars. Ill settle with 3 stars since 2 1/2 is not a choice.

Very pleased with the service I received as a walk in patient, all test were completed on that visit. My only complaint is the length of time it takes to receive results from a CT- scan, making a patient wait more than 3days for results I feel is cruel and unusual punishment. I called to schedule an appointment, no appointment available. Had myself transferred to the nurse and held on the phone for 45 minutes then they hung up after never answering the phone. I am livid. I have fever, pounding headache for FOUR days and I just want some healthcare!

waited 5 hours for a 20 min consult , some staff was helpful but mostly they act like if theyre doing charity work, the actual dr was a joke, yelling for nurses from her desk by their nicknames and joking with them when they actually showed up completly disregarding the consult.

They SUCK at Pt care, took a form in December to get it signed, still sitting on Social Worker Jackies desk, "shell get the doctor to sign it today or tomorrow" thats what she has been saying since last week. Pathetic is what it is.

Been going to the McAllen VA for a year or so and havent had issues with the behavior health department, nor my team! I get my meds in the mail, appointments are at a reasonable time!
