Shortly after mom was admitted as a new "resident", she ended up with a broken hip. Poor physical therapy. Other times (yes, plural), she fell out of her wheelchair and bed, once requiring a trip to the ER. Always sitting slumped over asleep in her wheelchair; her neck is now permanently crooked. Reclining wheelchair never placed in the reclined position.. Always in a dirty pamper., usually over flowing with wet pants, sometimes with urine all the way down into her shoes. Her wheelchair always smelled like urine. Her clothes always got lost. Her hospice supplies were always taken and used for other residents, especially her wipes. Other residents were wearing Moms clothes with her name plainly visible in big black magic marker letters. I always saw other residents sleeping in awkward positions in the day rooms when they should have been placed in their beds. The RNs are overwhelmed; Constant turnover of CNAs. Hardly ever saw the same CNAs. Few stay working there for long. Many times there were temp CNAs. Special instructions on the wall for the CNAs were never followed. Her teeth were rarely cared for. I had enough and brought her home...with a UTI. With a little extra attention she can now take steps again and her neck is beginning to straighten. Ill never utilize ANY nursing home again because of this experience. Update: A year later, moms neck is still crooked from the neglect she received from countless hours sleeping slumped over in a wheelchair. She never recovered from her broken hip. All this facility did was accelerate her aging.

Nice place TO LOOK AT, but the care you get is another matter. It seems at times like the left isnt talking to the right, like taking a leg brace (to heal broken bones) being taken off at night; taken to therapy at meal time only to return to "were out of food"; having bandages that need to be replaced every other day, going 4 or more days before someone "gets around to it". And you practically have to live on the nurse call button before someone responds. If you do not have a family member that visits every day, or ever other day, GET ONE!
