Im also surprised by some of these negative reviews. I started going to Cross Timbers about a year and a half ago. I have two cats and was looking for a vet that ran an organized office. Id been to vets that were a mad house where the resident pets were allowed to climb all over my cats crates, stressing them out unnecessarily. The only resident pet at Cross Timbers is a retired seeing eye dog that is very well behaved and stays behind the counter. The staff there is wonderful; they are accommodating and friendly. They also dont seem to think I have a bottomless wallet; Ive never felt like they were recommending things that I my cats didnt need just to make money. The vets listen to what I have to say and understand that I know my animal; if I have a feeling that I know what it is thats bothering my cat, they take that into account. Ive never just felt dismissed as I have with other vets. The vet techs there are also top of the line: my cats go there regularly for nail trimmings and sanitary shaves and I even recently had them do a full lion cut on one of my cats. They always do a good job and dont nick or otherwise injure my cats, and the techs report that the cats are easy to handle, which says a lot about the techs themselves. Ive spent a lot of time in this vet due to my cats frequent grooming needs and having to go there to buy Rx medicine, and every customer always seems happy. Ive never heard anyone talking to the techs like they had an unpleasant experience. If you live in the area and want a good, welcoming place to take your pet, go see the folks at Cross Timbers. Also, side note: the hours listed on Google are wrong. Cross Timbers is indeed open on Sundays from 12 to 5. I know because nearly all of my appointments are weekend appointments.

AVOID!!! Our dog is a member of our family and weve been fortunate to board him successfully at several different kennels in the past. However, we were horrified after his stay at Cross Timbers Animal Hospital in McKinney, TX. After a two-night stay, our dog came home with his face and nose bloodied and mauled. Once we got him home, he stayed in the corner, shaking and growling every time our children went near him. Understandably concerned, I called the hospital the following morning to find out what had happened and spoke with a doctor who flippantly dismissed my concerns, stating that "sometimes this happens" and that "irritation" occurs when dogs who are boarded there excessively rub their faces against/under their cage doors. As I explained, this is far beyond minor irritation—there are open wounds my dogs face. Furthermore, if its possible for a dog to inflict this much damage to themselves in a 48-hour period, why wasnt my dog tended to sooner. In my eyes, thats clearly neglect. The doctor told me I wasnt there, so I couldnt claim to know how he was wounded. At this point, I became upset and asked for a refund. The doctor told me that he would not be blackmailed or extorted, and to "have a nice day" before he hung up on me. I would highly recommend that any concerned pet owners look elsewhere and AVOID Cross Timbers Animal Hospital in McKinney.

The absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered! We took our dog for a rabies vaccine. The vet tech asked what we were there for and we told her a rabies vaccine. She asked if we would like a annual exam and a few other vaccines. (He had an annual visit 2 months prior at our old vet and is completely healthy) I asked if they were necessary the vet tech said no, so I told her a rabies vaccine would be sufficient. I dont know what the vet tech told the vet but she came in, she did not say hi or introduce herself, but began to chastise us for telling her how to treat our dog, which we hadnt done because we hadnt even spoken with her yet. I told her that I had no problem with how she medically runs her practice but just on how she treated us. I have no idea if she ever understood how ridiculous she was being (raising her voice and being completely rude), maybe she was just having a bad day, but regardless Ive NEVER been treated worse as a customer. I will never bring our dogs back to be treated at CrossTimbers because Im sure her unprofessionalism and rudeness could carry over to her treatment of the animals. Maybe youll catch the vet on a better day and your experience will be different, at least I hope so. I would advise you take your pets somewhere else for their care.

Cross Timbers is where Ive taken all of my dogs. Several years ago I had two labs and one of my labs had constant ear infections. We always took them to Cross Timbers for treatment and were pleased with the care he received. I have found that this clinic is great as long as you have the money up front to pay! They will not help you in the event of an emergency. Years later, I have a new puppy that likes to eat rocks. He had surgery, which we paid for in full, and then 4 weeks later he ate another. Our only option to pay the $1600 surgery was to pay half down and the rest in 45 days. Really? I just paid you $1600 four weeks ago and thats the best you can do? Or our other option was "You can take him to the Emergency Hospital where they have CareCredit but its triple the price". We ended up taking our baby to Durant, OK where the surgery cost us $369. The vet was waiting on him when we got there and got him right in. He was much more about customer service and taking care of the animals than getting the money! Its very disappointing as this vet is right around the corner from my house and have a lot of dogs I foster for a rescue that need vet care at times.

Ive been with Cross Timbers for 11 years and with 6 different animals. I have lost 2 pets there and they were so compassionate and caring and did not rush me at all. I also had a cat who had cancer and they gave me every alternative I wanted to try and it did allow us more time once the medication kicked in. They are open on Sundays which is really rare. I have even called on 2 occasions with an immediate need and they fit me in both times even though they had to stay late. They have really shown to me good care for our animals. Also, I had requested a preventative medication for my cat one time and the vet said I will be happy to prescribe it for you but I think it will just be an unnecessary cost unless you just want it. I appreciate that honesty. I will continue to take my future animals there for care! I trust them and think they are honest when care is needed or not.

I used them for a few years when I moved and couldnt spend an hour traveling to my old vet that I loved. One afternoon, I had a life and death emergency with my Great Dane. He had bloat and needed to be seen immediately. When I called, they said we dont have any appointments available and to call the emergency hospital. I did...they didnt open for 3 more hours and my dog would have been dead by then. I called back frantic, and they just kept saying we cant see him! I ended up taking him to a vet in Frisco who I didnt know, and who had him in surgery 10 minutes after we arrived and saved him. My feelings are, if you are a vet, you should be there for the day in day out stuff as well as the emergencies DURING office hours!!
