I thought Id found my dream vet clinic, but got a rude awakening after spending $2480.33 between Dec. 30th and Feb. 13th for annual exams, dental cleanings, and to have 3 tiny lumps removed from one of my three dogs, I took my 3rd dog in for his annual teeth cleaning. I had told them when he had his annual exam a few weeks earlier that he was due his rabies shot, and I did not know exactly when because he was a rescue dog and I couldnt find a record of his last shot in his previous vets records. Because he tended to yelp when he got shots, I thought he may as well have it when he was asleep, so asked if he could have it when he had his teeth cleaned, and they agreed that would be fine. When I arrived for the dental cleaning, I was kept waiting almost 15 minutes although I was on time and the only person there. When the staff member took me back to a room, I reminded her that my pet needed his rabies vaccination, which I had discussed with both the tech and Dr. Farmer at his annual exam just weeks before. The tech interviewing me before the teeth cleaning told me hed need another exam before having the shot (a fact that both the tech and Dr. Farmer failed to mention when he had his annual weeks before), so I told her that Id just take him to PetSmart or somewhere to get the shot, and to just go ahead and clean his teeth, because it seemed ridiculous to pay $49 for another exam a few weeks after hed just been examined when he was perfectly healthy. She said he couldnt remain there if he didnt have his shot. Apparently, my perfectly healthy house dog who only goes out 3 times a day to relieve himself was too dangerous to stay in their clinic. So, I left and took him immediately to another vet. Apparently, in order to soak me for an additonal $49, they were willing to risk a very good customer who had already spent $2400 at their clinic in 44 days, and was prepared to spend the funds for the 3rd dogs teeth cleaning and rabies vaccination. This clinic looks great on the surface, but watch out for subtle mining for additional dollars. And, Im not a vet hopper. I was with my first vet from when we moved to this area for 16 years until he sold his practice, and with the next vet for 22 years.

UPDATE!!! It is March 29, 2016 and just wanted to update everyone that my dog has been in remission for over 2 years now!!! I cant thank her enough for all her help and guidance!!! My dog is now 7-1/2 years old and wasnt supposed to see her 6th birthday! Thank you again Dr. Farmer and Staff!!! --- This is my original review: Dr. Farmer and staff are the best!!! I have been going to Dr. Farmer for over a year now. When my regular vet was out of town they referred me to Dr. Farmer as I had an emergency situation. They got me in immediately. I decided to continue on with Dr. Farmer as my regular vet was selling her practice and my experience was so good at Perky Paws that I decided to stay. I have worked for a vet in the past and am aware of the workings behind the scenes. I feel very comfortable leaving my dogs (when necessary) at the clinic. I am very picky about my vet as I show, breed and compete with my dogs. She recently diagnosed one of my dogs with masses on the spleen and liver and referred me to an internist at a specialty clinic. My girl was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. When the first specialty clinic couldnt get me an appointment with the oncologist for more than 2 weeks, I called Dr. Farmer to see if she could do anything for me. She got me an appointment with another oncologist within 2 hours of asking for her help. I cant thank her enough!!! Because of her help my girl went from having 4-6 weeks to live, to 4 to 6 months (with chemo). She responded to the chemo so well (was in remission after 2 treatments) we are hoping for 6+ months or longer. Dr. Farmer assured me she would be with me every step of the way through this journey and has been. We have now hit the 4 month mark since diagnosis and you cant even tell she has cancer. My girl is my competition agility partner and I was actually given the "okay" to start competing with her again!!! Dr. Farmer and staff have always followed up, listened to me when I am frustrated and been there to help me through the ups and downs. I have always found her and her staff very professional and genuinely caring!!!

This facility isnt really worth any more of my time or efforts than I have already spent. Just trying to do the public a service and warn them that this place is all about money and save as many people as possible the feeling of being run over by this expensive car driving vetranarian. Price gouging to the extreme and unnecessary up selling tactics constantly trying to be played. Im sure they take advantage of 90% of people unaware that they are being overpriced and taken advantage of for services their pet probably does not really need. This facility (Perky Paws) wanted to charge me over $500 to put my 18-year-old blue heeler down. REALLY??? Said she needed an exam before they killed her. Talk about kicking somebody when they are down. I shouldve known better at the time just thought I would give this place a try with our new puppy because they are very close to my house and convenient. I will never step foot in this facility again. Go there once and keep in mind this review and anybody aware of price gouging will quickly realize what this place is all about. In my opinion...as much money that can be made as possible. Do they truly care about your pet or just your wallet??? I spent an hour in this facility for a simple ear infection and they charged me $218. That is more than my own doctor by (BY FAR) charges. Not the first time I have felt this place has taken advantage of me. It will definitely be the last though. DO NOT recommend this facility to anyone.

My sincere thanks to Doctor Farmer and everybody at Perky Paws. They have seen our beloved dog through a series of very tough issues, starting with a severely broken front leg, that had to have surgery. During this particular episode, Doctor Farmer was very accommodating, affectionate towards our dog and incredibly informative. He has recovered fully from this. During this she also found that he had a tell-tale cough, or it was to her, not to us. Ended up he also had Heart worm, and once again, Doctor Farmer and her entire staff continuously went way above and beyond making this tough time, not so tough. He has also recovered fully from the series of medicines he had to go through. Heres the bottom line. Even after all this, our dog still looks forward to seeing Doctor Farmer and her incredible staff. We have a particular box we transport him in, and his tail wags like a airplane propeller when we put him in it. Its pretty tough to bamboozle a dog that has gone through the trauma he certainly has. Thanks Doctor Farmer!!!!
