My mother had a stroke, she was 64 and was sent to this rehab. DO NOT SEND your loved ones here unless you can be by there side 24 hours a day. If they are bedridden or recovering from stroke do not come here. They claim to be well versed in stroke victims but we found that the nursing staff were not!!!! The therapy staff is amazing here, above average care, and assistance. My mom was a gentle soul who wouldnt complain about things. She would pray for those who hurt her. The stroke affected her left side including swallowing. She was on thickened food and drink only. Between my father and I we were present until 8 or 9 pm EVERYDAY, and still things managed to happen. I cannot imagine what goes on if the patient is left completely alone. I will list in bullet points what happened to my mother in this hospital. -1st night of admittance: Two guys entered her room picking her up from bed roughly, while she yelled out in pain and in fear. They did not tell her prior to picking her up that they were changing her bed out. They placed her in a chair (take it she couldnt hold herself up because she hadnt began therapy yet). We began to stay overnight with her following this. -My mom came to the hospital with a completely healed and documented by admittance doctor, bedsore on her sacrum. We found it had not been changed in three days(date and time were written on bandage) and clearly had feces inside. Her bedsore moved to a stage 2 then 3 following this. She was in excruciating pain. We demanded she be turned every couple of hours through the night. DIdnt happen most nights. -She was verbally and physically assaulted by a female nurse. She was yelled at “to stand up, STOP IT, I know you can stand!” While being toileted in the bathroom. She is in a wheelchair and doesnt stand on her own in therapy yet, but a nurse is yelling for her to stand. This same nurse would be the one who grabbed my mother by the hat and yanked her head to the right to face her; just to say to her “ Dont you dare tell Physical Therapy I dont help you!” This same nurse told my mom she would bring her pain pills and brought her tylenol. Although, she had Hydrocodone and Neurontin on her chart. We told staff of both incidents and were told this nurse was not allowed in my mothers room again. -I walk in around 7:30am to find my mom laying in a disconcerting position. I could hear her calling for help as I entered her hallway. Her orthotic boot had not been placed correctly and her paralyzed leg had completely internally rotated. Meaning her left foot was completely facing the right with the medial knee lying flat. She would suffer for four days with excruciating hip pain from this incidence. Her Left arm was twisted and lying at a 90 degree bend to elbow completely behind her back. My mom begged me not to complain because of fear of retaliation. She had already been retaliated against for speaking to PT about prior nurse who yelled for her to stand. -My mom was to have pureed foods. YET THEY WOULD STILL SEND HER SOFT FOODs. She almost choked twice. -One of us was always present during meal times. I was on my way for shift with her and there was a wreck on the tollway. I was 30 minutes late. I showed up to find my mom halfway down in the bed with her food tray pulled up to her. The problem was she her head was almost beneath the table and she was trying to eat in this position. Due to her choke risk she was not to be left alone while eating. The nurse aid came in and said “ Oh I was planning on coming back.” Really? I said then why was her tray pulled up to her and her door closed? This is just a few of the incidents. Google will not allow the length to post the entire review. This is just a few of the incidents that occurred at this place. I would never suggest anyone take their parents , or anyone they love to this facility. We were here for 6 weeks. Most staff was inadequatly educated, most did not speak clear english, were not sensitive to the needs of a stroke victim who was bedridden, good luck at getting touch with doctor if you need him.

I would give this place a 0 star if I could. DO NOT send your loved ones here. It is complete incompetence from start to finish. The used car salesman/steve will promise you that they specialize in stroke patients/etc. and that they have one on one patient care. My mother had a valve replacement and then a stroke the next day. The hospital wanted to get her into rehab right away to help her with any damage from the stroke. I told steve during our tour that she had several issues including CHF , and impulse control after the stroke and couldnt be left alone especially when it came to using the bathroom etc. I was assured this would NEVER happen. Within 2 hours of admitting her a nurse/tech came in to help her go to the bathroom and shut the door and left. I opened the door and my mother was already off toilet and ready to fall over trying to get to the wheel chair. I checked my mom in on Wednesday and by Thursday she was having trouble breathing, getting breathing treatments 2x a day and almost no rehabbing. After repeated calls to steve, doctors, nurses, anyone that would listen, I was told by the Med. director that everything was fine and to "Cheer up". After they let my mom lay their for 5 days giving me every excuse they could while watching my mom go down hill every day .Finally, one of the doctors said to re admit her to the hospital. She had gained 8lbs of fluids around her heart and lungs and had to stay in the hospital for the next 3-4 weeks just to recover. After all this, her insurance denied sending her to a decent rehab facility. One of the worst experiences ever...again, dont send you loved ones here!! I will say there are a few nurses that seem to care about the patients..Liz was the only bright spot!!

I was a student here for 2 months observing and engaging in every step of the day with the therapy staff. The therapy staff here are tremendous. They have such a passion for what they do, engage patients with conversation, empathize with struggles that each patient experience during this difficult time of their life, and help them to prepare for the next step in their life after their time at Accel. This is one of the most qualified and well equipped settings Ive seen in my live after being at many types of therapy settings.

My 82 year old mom broke her leg. We found the staff to be caring and attentive to her needs. The facility was clean. Physical therapy and occupational therapy were done 3 times per day. Prior to her release, the chief therapy officer went to her home to assess whether it was safe and could accommodate her wheelchair. I would recommend the facility based on our positive experience.

A great, modern facility for rehabilitation of all types. Individual therapy according to patient needs. Medicare accepted. As with any care facility family must let staff know any individual and unique patient needs. No facility is perfect, but Accel comes close. My 93-yr old mother-in-law is the patient as of this writing (10/11/13). Will update when discharged.
