Neglect Simulator 2016 Let me first say that although this review is an attempt at tongue-in-cheek sarcastic humor, the treatment we received at this hospital is no joke and the events detailed below arent embellished for comedic effect (seriously). Dont go here. You have been warned. Methodist Dallas Medical Center offers a unique experience that no hospital Ive stayed at to date can even start to offer. It caters to a specific audience that wants to know what staying in a 3rd world hell hole might be like. Are you the type that likes to take risks with your health care? Have you been heard complaining that modern hospitals are just "too good"? Do you think that the problem with people these days is that they just need to toughen up? This very well might be the hospital for you. When you first get into a room and get changed into your gown for surgery, youll be on the edge of your seat wondering if the nurse who is evidently still training will be able to get your IV in. Her hands will be shaking like a teenage boy about to get to 2nd base on prom night, but instead of getting lucky, youre getting stabbed in the vein. Youre going to lose some blood in the process, but isnt that part of the fun? The bloody gauze on the floor from the previous patients let you know that this isnt the first time shes killed. It also lets you know that they are serious about building up your immune system. The best way to do it is to expose you to as many germs as possible. Sanitization is why China is kicking our ass after all. After the light headedness goes away from the blood loss, youll have plenty of time to be by yourself and admire the decor. Stains on the floor. Random detritus shoved in corners. Paint peeling off the fixtures. Theyre committed to providing a specific experience, and no expense is spared. Theres a TV provided in the room, but theres no remote. Youll need to find a stool to stand on if youd like to turn it on or change channels. Maybe you can convince the bugs to do it for you. Once your loved one is finished in surgery and gets admitted to the hospital, the real fun starts. The staff is great and loves to play little pranks on you. The make the IV line a little bit too long, and let it dangle onto the floor. The next person that comes in will trip on it and yank on the needle that Ms. Shaky Hands put in your arm. Talk about a rush! Some people need coffee in the morning, but a nice tug on the vein is just what I need to feel alive. This repeats a few extra times for comedic effect. As the sun sets, the simulation of neglect gets into full swing. Thirsty? Theres a sink in the bathroom isnt there? Need to puke? You have a water pitcher, dont you? Need to pee? Youre supposed to "call, dont fall", but when you call, they say theyre busy and hang up on you. What a bunch of jokesters. The merriment is infectious (just like the bloody gauze on the floor). As they check on you throughout the night, one of the resident pranksters tells you that you dont need the leg compression sleeves anymore and takes them off for you. When you try to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you fall because your legs dont work. Cant blame them for trying to get some repeat business. When morning comes, you get to experience best-in-class food service. I mean, they forgot that you were in here, and didnt have a meal prepared for you, but that just adds to the ambience. As you navigate the mental fog caused by fasting for 24 hours and prepare for discharge, they make sure that you understand your post-op instructions and that youre adequately prepared for when you go home. You get a nice folder with some papers, another IV tug for good measure, and it just wouldnt be Methodist Dallas without a nurse telling you shes too busy to wheel you outside. You have legs dont you? In summation, this hospital visit was on-par with a Soviet era Gulag, but with better chicken. A+ would be neglected again.

I brought my Mother because she was having uncontrollable movement of her arm and leg on her right, headaches, sore spot in her head, loss of sight and pressure behind her right eye and was told all of these symptoms were because of a Urinary Tract Infection?! Really Methodist?! From the beginning I told the intake staff that my Mother was allergic to certain medicines and low and behold the RN who goes by the name of J.R. brought not one but TWO medications in the room for my Mother to take that she was allergic to! My question to him was "Are you trying to kill her?! We told you she was allergic to those medications" His reply was "Well you didnt tell me" and my reply was "YOU didnt ask!!" This JR. person walked in the room initially and did not introduce himself at all which is not normal at ANY hospital. We had to ask what his name was and he didnt even know the name of the ER Doctor on duty?!?! Then he attempts to draw blood from my Mothers arm and couldnt so his already stoic attitude became even more ugly and aggressive and snatches the blue strap used to find a vein right off my Mothers arm. Then stated he would let the Dr know and see what to do. Any other hospital would call for the Phlebotomy Supervisor to come draw the blood but of course no one ever came. The new Doctor Dr Severson saw Mother first and then Dr Black came in and both agreed that the UTI was the cause of these symptoms and sent my Mother home with Antibiotics and Pain Killers My Mother is Diabetic has Heart Disease High Blood Pressure a history of Strokes and has had a Heart Attack and the BEST that Methodist Dallas could do was give her antibiotics and pain medicine and usher her out the door! Unbelievable!! I called last night to speak to Dr Severson or Dr Black after reading she could have has a TIA or Intracerebral Hemorrhage amongst other things Chorea, Parkinsons Disease, Wilkins Disease etc... But no CT scan, MRI, or even XRays were taken of her head or anything to see if there was any blood clots or ruptured / bleeding arteries !!

DO NOT place loved ones in this hospital!! If you love them & want them respected & treated well DONT go here. Very bad experience while my grandma was there this past week up till yesterday. The dr. discharged her in a rush before we had a nursing hm bed ready. He got if wk at 3 and discharged while she was alone! We had to rush final arrangements for nursing hm. anytime she had to potty assistance never came until after she did it on herself! We have to hunt help down. Yesterday while wait for her ride to transport her to nursing hm she soiled herself waiting for help for 30-40mins to go potty. Nurses Zenny &Ronald Holliness where very rude and lazy! Patient cant stand or walk on her own. Zenny wanted her to wait longer to pee until after transported! she got mad because grandma couldnt get up on her own or walk. She yelled at me to help her pick her up. Saying I needed to help. I told her to get staff assistance.. She yelled at me again saying I needed to help. My grandma is heavy and had tender bones! nurse Ronald finally came...also mad since grandma cant stand or walk. He picked her up roughly, her struggling to hold on to him her body dangling..hes trying to drug her to restroom almost dropping her. The transporters get there at same time. They go wait in hall as nurse gets mad & just gets a bed pan. transporters cant bring gurny in rm cuz rm is small. The nurses get mad trying to put grandma on bed to wait but as she reaches bed it rolls. Ronald yells at me to lock the bed! I have no clue how to do this he repeatedly yells at me to lock the bed and yells at my aunt & sister to also lock it. We all are clueless and he almost dropped grandma. The transporter started putting on gloves preparing to assist if needed. He looked shocked at the situation. The nurses didnt even know how to lay her down on the gurney! She was scared & we were mad & upset. I DO NOT SUGGEST this hospital for anyone you love!
