I have gone to Methodist Emergency room a number of times for different members of my family. Every time that we go we fill out a ton of paper work stating new insurance, blah blah blah. What I would like to know do they ever actually look at this paper work because every time we get a bill from visits to this hospital they would state that our insurance was cancelled. The insurance that they sent it to was an insurance we had like 4 years ago! So then I have to spend time on the phone with them every single time telling them they need to update the insurance and resubmit it to the current insurance company. Then after they resubmit it they send me a corrected bill, which I pay on time. Months will go by and I dont hear a word from them only to be sent a letter stating that it is the final notice for payment before it goes to collections. I call them give them proof that the payment posted to my account, and after hours with them on the phone bouncing me around and around, they come back with oh we apologize that payment did post but it posted to another account number by mistake or some such nonsense. Now usually Im able to catch their billing mistakes before it gets sent to collections, but I just spent two hours of my life on the phone with Radiology Consultants which is a billing company for this hospitals radiology department. They sent a bill that I not only paid once but twice to collections, stating that the payments were never received. After two hours and being hung up on twice, they realized it was a mistake made by them, because again I have bank statements to prove I paid the bill twice, they then refused to give me something stating that my account has been paid in full and that the collections company has been notified of the correction. The staff at the actual ER I have nothing but good things to say, but be prepared to have to fight with billing because what ever company they have doing their billing DOES NOT pay attention to all of that tedious paperwork that they make you fill out and they are horrible at customer service on the billing end.

From the name you would think that this hospital is associated with the Methodist hospital system. Wrong! This is a private hospital owned by a group of physicians. That, by itself is not a reason to give this hospital a low rating. The service I received there was great, the staff was courteous and competent, however the price that they charge for their services is way too high. I needed to have outpatient surgery performed and my doctor provided with me with two options based on when I wanted the surgery performed. I could have the surgery performed on a Monday at Baylor in Plano, or on a Thursday at Methodist in McKinney. With no other criteria to go on I selected Thursday at Methodist for personal scheduling reasons. When the hospital called me two days before my surgery to tell me that my out of pocket cost would be $1,979.02 I was in shock. The explanation, $592.77 for unpaid deductible, and $1386.25 for my 20% over what my insurance would pay. When I asked about payment options they said I could have up to 4 months to pay. 50% up front and the remainder over the next 3 months, or the total spread out over 4 months. I called my doctor’s office the next day about having the surgery elsewhere, the back of a van, Motel 6, somewhere else less expensive. They gave me the number for Baylor in Plano and sent my records there. I talked to the staff at Baylor and was informed that they could not give me an exact quote, but based on the codes provided by the doctor’s office my cost would be around $1,100.00 including the unpaid deductible, a difference of at least $800.00. Unfortunately, because of scheduling conflicts I decided to keep my appointment at Methodist. When I arrived for my surgery and checked in, I asked again about payment options and was informed there were none. What did I get for my money? I got a four hour stay that included a curtained alcove with a bed prior to surgery, the operating room and staff, and a reclining chair to recover in. I feel like I paid for their brand new surgical factory, and not the procedure itself.

We came to Methodist for foot surgery and left with MRSA Staph Infection. BEWARE! This stuff is bad news and can KILL YOU if not address quickly. Methodist McKinney denies the infection came from their facility, but as the infection was categorized as a HOSPITAL GRADE MRSA Staph Infection, and Methodist Hospital McKinney was the only hospital we were in...that dog dont hunt. Their claim of NO FAULT is empty. Methodist McKinney would have you and I believe this infection just dropped from the sky. Two years and three additional foot surgeries later, the infection was hopefully removed, along with the infected hardware needed to hold her foot together, and part of her infected foot BONE. We are just lucky she did not lose her foot. All these additional Surgeries that incidentally, we had to pay for, have rendered her foot worse than when we first came to Methodist Hospital McKinney for reconstructive surgery. Methodist hospital management states they did an "internal investigation" that shows they are compliant with the health regulations. Well that is just a CROCK! Unfortunately, because of TX laws like Prop12 (TX Tort Reform), we, and everyone else who are victims, have no recourse for the wrong done by companies in the Texas Health Care Industry who operate with abandon. Big Insurance and health care industry lobbyist wrote the laws to protect the interest of their industry, and we are the collateral damage. There is no recourse and people do not realized this until it hits them in the face. Until this culture of corruption is remedied, then you must know you and your loved ones are at risk. If possible you are best to stay away from Methodist Hospital in McKinney TX, and be cautious, if not avoid, TX hospitals when able.

The interior designer did a good job. Im glad Im not a person with alot of health problems as my pre-op nurse asked me 10 health questions in one breath. Nice feature, t.v. in pre-op stall, so that was nice. My pre-op nurse said she would put my belongings in a locker and tell me the locker number so the nurse taking me into surgery could put my eyeglasses in the locker. She never came back at all to check on me or to communicate my locker number. Anesthesiologist and surgeon were great. Post-op nurse appeared to be in charge, complained about being short handed. I could hear my other nurses asking patients if they wanted something to drink or a warm blanket, not my nurse. I could barely talk because of my dry mouth, and I managed to ask for a warm blanket (which she never brought to me). She proceeded to pop some gum in her mouth (which I was shocked) and it was quite annoying to listen to while trying to wake up from anesthesia. This nurse wheeled me into another area that had no light, gave me crackers with no drink and left me there. I had to flag down a very nice male nurse "Jeff" and he was attentive and brought me a drink promptly. I gave up on the warm blanket by that time. Then my nurse finally brought me a drink after I was almost done with the drink the other attentive nurse brought me. She proceeded to call my Dad to pick me up. My Dad arrived and waited. Im not sure why the nurse called my Dad (who is no spring chicken) to pick me up when she hadnt started my discharge paperwork. Again, the other nurse came by and saw we were ready to go and he volunteered to fill out my discharge paperwork. I expected better care as I have health insurance and I paid out of pocket a significant amount.
