I dont ever write review on Yelp, but this time I must. I went in to Eye Pieces looking for some frames. I found a pair that I liked. The sales person advised I should try a smaller size which they would have to order. The had me put down a $100 deposit which they stated would be applied to my purchase. When the frames came in I did not care for them, nor did I see anything else in the store I liked. I requested to have my $100 refunded to me. They refused. I was appalled. They told me I could make an appointment with the optometrist who owned the business, Dr. Birenbaum to discuss the matter. I refused to make an appointment to get my money back. I demanded a refund on the spot. They still refused. They then got the doctor to come out and speak with me and he was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. He accused me of yelling at his staff and demanded I leave and dont come back. I told him I wanted a refund on the deposit I put down. He refused. He was even rude to my poor wife, sticking his finger in her face! We went back and forth. He finally agreed but only to $85 and demanded I pay shipping. He then showed me the order slip, (which i did not receive, only my credit card slip) which stated no refunds or exchanges. Even if I had the form, I didnt buy anything, no prescription was filled, no glasses were made. I finally agreed to the $85 because he just was not going to back down. What a near sighted, terrible business person. He ruined the experience, and over $15, which if he had simply given me a refund, he probably in time would have made $400 when I returned to purchase another pair of frames, but no. I will never step foot in that store again. Avoid like the plague. Go to the Eye Pieces in uptown. That store is night and day better.

Terrible is all I can say. I dealt with Robert Birenbaum and his team when he was in the Dallas location a few years ago. First off, Birenbaum is a smug, self centered, uncaring poor excuse of a doctor who could care less about his patients. It took over 3 months for them to get my Bugatti frames correct. They would come back either with the frame scratched, the lenses scratched, or the prescription strength incorrect (which the dumb doc said was because I developed an astigmatism. WRONG!) . And each time I would find an issue with the frames, I got attitude from not only from the staff, but from the doctor. Paying that much for frames I would expect them to be flawless and I would expect to be treated with a little more respect. I see that Birenbaum is now only at the Plano location, and a couple of new doctors are at the Dallas location. The Dallas location seems to have some great reviews for the new staff. I would avoid at all costs going to the Plano location. P.S. On a side note. I fell asleep in my frames one evening and broke them from the lenses. I took them to Birenbaum to get fixed and was told that they were not repairable and I would need to buy new frames. LIARS!! I took the damaged frames to Goo Goo Eyes on Lovers Ln and they fixed them for me for FREE!! Eye Pieces just wanted to milk me for more money. NEVER GO THERE!!

Dr. Gonzalez and the entire staff at Eye Pieces are great. When I walked in, I was taken a back by how sleek and stylish the office was. It was like no other optometrist office I had ever seen. The look of the place is only the beginning. Dr. Gonzalez is a very knowledgable and engaging practitioner. Unlike other optometrist offices where the it seems like the doctor is running a conveyer belt, seeing one patient after another, Dr. Gonzalez took time to speak with my wife and I about the health of my eyes. He didnt just do a couple tests and give me my prescription. He gave me advice about maintaining my eye health and suggestions of preventative care. The office is in the very hip Shops at Legacy. After my appointment, my wife and I were able to go next door to Del Friscos grill for lunch while the front desk verified my insurance. When it came time to pick my frames, I was able to choose from a vast variety from top end designers. I chose a pair of Tom Ford frames that I have not seen before. In summation, while most times going to the eye doctor is a tedious, and time consuming venture, going to Eye Pieces was fun, informative, and my wife and I were able to make a lunch date out of it.

Dr. Gonzalez has been our family’s optometrist for over 8 years now. We made the switch after several disappointing experiences with other optometrist. Worlds of difference for our eyes once we became Dr. Gonzalez’s patients. Dr. Gonzalez realized my husband had been wearing too strong of a prescription (from previous doctor), and also diagnosed him with dry eye/allergies. Once my husband’s vision was corrected and prescribed eye drops, daily headaches he was experiencing went away. He also treats our children, and took the time to help educate our teen as he transitioned from glasses to contacts for the first time. Always patient and takes the time to give a thorough exam and explanation for any condition, concern, procedure and treatment. Our visits are never rushed and we feel we always gain a wealth of information. My mother is the latest addition as a referred patient. She was seen for a condition that is sensitive to people normally in their 60s. Dr. Gonzalez made her feel at ease after properly examining and explaining everything to her in Spanish. That is a bonus for us and our family…I will definitely refer all our relatives and friends!

I love this place! Everyone was very friendly. I was surprised to see a few negative reviews, but then I realized that they were from last year and older. Dr. Gonzalez is the new doctor there so i have no idea what the negative ones are all about. I encourage you, if you had been there in the past, to go now you will find that this is a whole different place. DR Gonzalez is very knowledgeable, patient, and thorough.... but most of all he is by far the most caring doctor you will ever meet. if you even look like you dont understand, he will reiterate as many times as you need to make sure you get a clear picture of your eye health.again, bypass the old reviews and check it out for yourself with the new staff and doctor. the staff itself was amazing. They really helped my wife and I with new frames and completely explain to us all of our insurance cost. they even helped my wife to get out of her comfort zone and help picked out some edgier frames that made her look like a knockout. I would like to say thank you to the doctor and his staff for an amazing experience

I have to agree with other reviewers about the selection being vast and vogue...very chic chic and $$$$$. Every person I spoke with were all wonderfully nice and pleasant to deal with every single time I called or had to go back. However, and this is far more important than stock or personnel, I had to go back approx SIX+ times in order to get my prescription correct. Finally, I gave up and decided to wait until my vision insurance renewed in February. Dr. Birenbaum took me in immediately each time I showed up with or without an appt at his store. He was courteous, but I was disturbed by his incorrect belief that a person is born with astigmatism and they never go away or correct. I am not going back again because he never could get my Rx correct and I never felt assured he really knew what he was talking about. I will miss the people, but I need proper vision correction and I do not have time to constantly keep going back and hope this time its right.
