Canyon Creek Animal Clinic is an animal hospital located at 2717 Custer Pkwy, Richardson, TX 75080, USA. The clinic offers a range of veterinary services and operates from 7 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays. The clinic has a rating of 4.3 based on customer reviews.
Exceptional Care: One customer praised the clinic for exceeding their expectations, especially for a first-time visit. The staff was described as friendly and caring, providing progress reports at every step. The customer was particularly impressed with DVM Amanda Mills for her gentle approach and thorough explanations.
Compassionate and Reasonable: Another review highlighted the compassion and helpfulness of the staff. The clinic was commended for its reasonable prices and exceptional care, especially during emergencies.
Long-Term Satisfaction: A long-time customer expressed satisfaction with both the previous and current veterinarians at the clinic. The review mentioned that the staff is comforting to both the pets and the owners, and they handle procedures like shots and exams quickly and efficiently.
Handling Concerns: One customer had a poor experience due to the way their dog was handled during vaccinations. They felt that the new helper held the dog too tightly, causing discomfort and stress.
Cost Concerns: Another review mentioned that the clinic has become expensive, especially for serious treatments. The customer felt that the new veterinarians, who are relatively young, tend to recommend costly tests and treatments.
Medication Refill Policy: A customer was dissatisfied with the clinic's policy on medication refills. They mentioned that the clinic insisted on a new vet visit for a refill after three months, which they found inconvenient.
Based on the reviews, Canyon Creek Animal Clinic appears to be a well-regarded veterinary practice with a few areas for improvement. The clinic is praised for its compassionate care and reasonable pricing but has received some criticism for its handling of animals and cost of treatments. Overall, the clinic enjoys a good reputation, but potential clients should be aware of these considerations.

When I first went to this clinic with my dog, there use to be a lady helper that held my dog while Dr. Humphries would give vaccinations. I never thought the Dr. to be great but my recent couple of visits have left a very very poor impression. Last couple of my visits there, my dog screamed like anything while being vaccinated and I feel so pathetic putting her to that. My dog looked at me while she was screaming and I couldnt help her. What was the reason? The new helper, a guy, held my dog so tight that she felt very insecure, I havent seen something like this before. Dr. Humphries is okay (havent realy gone to him much other than regular vaccinations to know better about him). However, the doctor who doesnt realise that his helper is causing pain to my dog because of how he handles the dog. Vets are suppose to know what comforts dogs rather than bringing out the unpleasant behavior of the dogs and I would expect this from a doctor and a helper who have gone through a proper degree and several years of experience in this specialization. Before I forget to mention, I visited another vet in another state around 8 months ago. I have never seen anything like this before, he injected my dog without even holding her and my dog didnt even come to know. PS: I have had dogs since childhood and this vet was just wonderfully awesome! Unfortunately, this vet is not in Texas. What I am trying to say is, there are waaaayyy better vets that can treat your animal with more care and tenderness to comfort them instead of making it worse. In my case, my dog has no attitude issues. I will never go back to Humphries again and put my dog thru it again.

We loved Canyon Creek Animal Clinic for years when Dr. Humphries was there. The practice was bought out by several very young vets. We tried them for several visits and Im sure they are fine for the small stuff, but expect a very hefty bill for anything serious. I also thought it was interesting that the vet said "oh, I dont know the financial stuff" and then came back with a bill for over $500 of tests and a $2000 estimate for nursing care on an older dog who just needed to be made comfortable with antibiotics. When he relapsed with some diarrhea, i called back to refill the mediation, but apparently 3 months is too long and he must be brought back in for another vet visit instead of just getting a refill on the meds. The practice moved into a beautiful new building, but I immediately moved my business to another established vet closer to my house who doesnt have to pay for vet school and new buildings. Sorry for such long and bitter review, but after being such a long time customer it was a bitter pill.

I LOVE Canyon Creek Animal Clinic in Richardson, TX! This was my 1st experience with them. I had several closer options to me but I choose to take my very small dog "Bandit" here to get neutered & have his teeth cleaned based on reviews of this place and they FAR exceeded my expectations! The staff here was so friendly and took such GREAT care of my little guy! They called me every step of the way with progress reports and you can just tell from the moment you walk in, they ALL genuinely care about your animals well being and take pride in their services! Also want to extend a very special thank you to DVM Amanda Mills for being so gentle and thoroughly explaining everything she did to Bandit. The kindness she displayed helped his recovery time and she even provided before & after pictures! I cant say enough positive comments about this place! Highly recommend taking your fur babies here!

The absolute best animal care we have ever received. Dr. Humphries seems to care a LOT about the well-being of his patients and seems to care LESS about nickle-and-diming the pet owners than any other place Ive gone. They promote fewer unnecessary vaccinations/procedures, and every time Ive visited theyve either given me samples (instead of charging me for something my pet only needs a small amount of) or combined treatments for a lower bill. The staff -- I forget the vet techs name (Brad?) -- are all sweet and gentle with the animals, and this is the FIRST vet weve ever gone to where our dog (10-1/2 years old) doesnt start trembling the minute he walks in the door. Im so happy that weve found Dr. Humphries and his crew.

I cant say enough about this vet. They are the best vets I have ever seen. They are the most compassionate, helpful, caring people I have ever had the opportunity to see. Everyone on their staff is extremely helpful and they will do everything they can to help you out. I have seen both of the vets at different times and both are amazing. My dog was recently attacked by another dog- instead of having me go to an emergency vet- which they have in their larger practice- they had me come in and they looked at my dog right away. I will go to this vet as long as I am anywhere near the dallas area. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the care they provide is exceptional! Thank you to Canyon Creek Animal Clinic!

I recommend this clinic to absolutely everyone. I am a long time customer and liked both Dr. Humphries and the new vet Dr. Mills. She and her staff are wonderful! My dogs (I have three large dogs) are well cared for and shots/exams/etc. are handled easily and quickly. One of my dogs recently cut her head on our grill and required staples. The surgery went well as did the recovery. Dr. Mills truly cares about the animals she treats. Dr. Mills and her staff are not only great with my dogs but they are a comforting presence to the owner. They go out of their way to assist in whatever my dogs need. I cant recommend them enough, they are great!

My pet sitter recommended this clinic and I have been taking my dogs to this clinic since 1999. I have had nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Humphries and his staff. Good down to earth people, one and all. He treats my dogs with kindness and affection, doesnt try to sell us drugs or services that are unneeded, reasonable prices and offers no nonsense advice when requested. After their initial visit, my dogs do not have any fear of coming to the clinic and two of them eagerly await Brent, the vet tech, who spends a little time with them prior to the Doctor coming in. I highly recommend this clinic.

I love Dr. Humphries. He cares a great deal for my dogs, and his staff remembers them and us, even though we mostly only see them for their yearly checkups. I would not trust my dogs with anyone else. They are kind and gentle with them, especially when the procedure will be extremely unpleasant. He has a no-nonsense approach to caring for animals, which I like. I want the truth. I dont want him to tell me what he thinks I want to hear. He takes the time to explain everything in a way that I can understand. Hes the best!

The entire staff is absolutely amazing! Dr. Amanda Mills is by far the best veterinarian I have met, and her staff was super sweet, caring, and patient. My baby was in an accident (emergency) and Aqua got her in quickly and was already prepared to receive me. Unfortunately, my pup did not make it :( but I am extremely grateful that the entire staff did everything in their power for multiple hours to help and did not give up. Dr. Mills is absolutely amazing and the passion she has for her job is crystal clear.
