Im writing a review based on my experiences having PRK. The consultation with Cindy was wonderful. She knows her stuff and you can tell. I did feel like the entire thing is very organized which can make you feel like clients are herd like cattle. This didnt bother me. I appreciate them not wasting my time. Interactions with the staff are warm so I didnt feel like just another patient. Ill move on to PRK, since thats more unique and interesting. The pain was like a 6. I couldnt open my eyes the first day. The second my lids felt so heavy, it hurt. I literally sat and listened to preseason football. Did not want to open my eyes. By day 3, I had very little pain. Day 4, none and I returned to work. They arent very clear with how much your vision can fluctuate after PRK. Maybe its to not scare you away... But Im 9 days out from surgery and I have moments where things are so clear, its unbelievable. And then, its so blurry, I have to stand next to screens in meetings to follow along. Moments that cause me to question why I had the procedure. Dont get me wrong, my vision is better than it was before surgery, but I cant read at all. My vision changes within a few hours. Its extreme. Each persons experience is different. I imagine Im healing slowly because I went back to work on Tuesday after having surgery on Friday. My job is 100% computer based, which dries my eyes. (Staring at the screen, not blinking regularly) Lubrication is important for healing. All in all, its not as bad as you might imagine. Do it for the freedom; youll survive the procedure. Just be ready for the bumpy road to recovery.

I had a horrible experience at this place and will not be coming back. It should NOT take 50 minutes to be seen WITH AN APPOINTMENT. I decided to try this place out due to the reviews and made an appointment right after lunch time. I arrived around 10 minutes late because their parking lot is a DISASTER and I had to drive around for a while before finally finding someone that was leaving. I checked in and filled out their paperwork (all standard) and sat down. Around 20 minutes in the woman at the front desk called my name but when I went up to her she just told me theyre running late and it will be about 15-20 minutes more. I said ok and sat back down. 25 minutes passed and at this point Im getting really annoyed. I finally got up after being there for 45 minutes at this point. I asked the front desk lady when Im going to be seen and how long the appointment would take. She said its usually about 45-1 hour and that my name just switched colors so they should be calling it at any moment. I was so fed up at this point that I told her to cancel my appointment and went for the door. As I was opening the door to leave, the nurse opened the other door and called my name. I was so pissed I yelled across the whole room (lots of people were there) that I cancelled my appointment and wont be coming back. Im not one for public scenes or drama but bad customer service gets to me like none other. 50 minute wait WITH AN APPOINTMENT? No THANKS! I went to Baxter Eye Care later that week and was seen WITHIN 5 minutes and was in and out in 45 minutes.

The staff at Berkeley are wonderful! From the front desk to the doctors, they all made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The doctors I saw (Dr. Sun and Dr. Varnell) really listened to any concerns that I had and made sure that I understood the procedures and what to expect. They answered my questions truthfully, and did not give me a generic "It will be okay" answer. Cindy really made me feel at ease prior to the procedure, and the procedure was quick, with the doctor and nurses explaining what was going on while the procedure was done. The after care was great, and while I did experience some discomfort in one eye, Dr. Varnell explained what was going on, how to help it, and wanted to see me again in a couple of days later to make sure everything was going fine. With the treatment prescribed, it was completely better two days later! I never felt rushed, like I was just a number to push through. I could not be more happy with my decision to use Berkeley Eye Center for my procedure! I would recommend them to everyone! 3 year update: My vision is amazing! 15/20 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. My regular eye doctor (not with Berkley) said they did an amazing job, that the scaring was so minimal that he might not have noticed, except my vision went from "cant read the big E", to "reading really small letters"!

My wife and I returned to Berkeley for our annual check up and once again were greeted with the same caring and professional care we have experienced in the past. Our appointments were timely and the staff was proficient, taking the time with us to explain in detail our exams, findings and options for care. Sarah was courteous and helpful and Dr. Varnell was professional and took time to explain the exam results and comparison changes from last year exam. A patients trust is key in the care they are provided and we have the utmost trust in Dr. Varnell and the staff at Berkeley. Subsequent to the exams we were courteously directed to the eye glass section and were pleased to once again be met by Chrissy. She has helped us over the years and again her personality and professionalism in explaining our options and cost was a positive experience. We will continue to visit Berkeley as we have trust and confidence in their care.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived for my annual eye exam, to see that my favorite Optician, Ty Eldridge, has transferred to the Woodlands location. She is always great to work with and I trust her judgement with both aesthetics and cost. If I had to offer any constructive criticism for the clinic, it would be to offer patients insights as to what to expect ahead of time. Specifically with how dilation will affect driving after leaving the clinic. My appt was late in the afternoon, so when I left, it was dark. My eyes were terribly affected by the harsh headlights of oncoming cars, and I had a very tough time driving. By the time I arrived home, I had a terrible headache and nausea, very similar to a migraine. Had I known it was going to be as tough, I would have had my spouse accompany me to drive. Thank you for this opportunity to offer feedback.

I had the Lasik performed due to on going problems with contacts and have never been a big fan of glasses. The staff made it easy for setting all appointments. Everyone there was very helpful. They even offer loaner glasses, i had to go 2 weeks without contacts to let my eyes heal up from wearing them for so long. Every thing went great for me no pain at all during the surgery or after. Im even seeing better then i hoped for with 20/15. Other then that the only thing i could made things better for me would to have had more options on the days to have the surgery done. They only offer it on Fridays and only have early appointments. And then have to go back early the following day to check on everything. They should offer a Thursday surgery with Friday follow up. But to each there own. I would defiantly recommend them and to having the procedure done.
