THE GOOD: I have a petrified of everything young rescue cat who needed only one paw declawed as well as her teeth checked/cleaned. They did both procedures at the same time saving us the stress of going to the vet & the cost of putting her under, twice. I have another cat (senior) who had 10 teeth pulled at a diff vet few yrs ago. The difference in how they came home was night & day...my old guy suffered alot whereas my young kitty who I brought here seemed to not even know save for a few rambunctious play biting moments. It was very important to me she suffered as little as possible & this vet accomplished that. THE BAD: Unfortunately they didnt give her the rest of her shots like I thought they were going to (they only gave her rabies the first time & were going to do the rest after surgury but didnt happen, we had to make another trip and I got charged more which Im still not sure is correct). Also, brought my senior cat in for chronic back pain, was given robenacoxib and advised that if they worked we could continue giving everyday so long as we got additional tests periodically (kidney & liver I think they said). My issue with this is, its not supposed to be used long term and it was presented to me as something that could be. I would have asked about other options if I knew that at the time but either way, I dont think vets should be offering long term use of short term medicines. Since then Ive learned about hemp oil, works wonders for his pain. The waiting area is nice & clean but its big & WIDE open so that all the animals are exposed to one another making it very uncomfortable for all (humans included). The wait has been long everytime Ive been so most likely you will be in this tense situation for a while. THE BOTTOM LINE: There is room for improvement for sure but they are far better than Converse Animal Hospital (our previous vet) whose care was atrocious.

I could not be more pleased with Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital, in particular Dr. Kline and the friendly staff. I am the author of the best selling series of pet loss books "Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" and not only have scores of veternarian acquainenances and friends, but counsel thousands of people each year on pet-related issues. One of the most common complaints I hear from readers is the increasingly poor service they receive from local veterinarians; so I know a little about how to evaluate veterinarian services. Previous to my move to San Antonio, two of my dogs were grossly misdiagnosed and given the wrong treatment. Subsequently, they both suffered for many months. During the initial visit with my animals, Dr. Kline quickly and expertly discovered this and took remedied the situation. Both dogs are now enjoying a better quality of life. And so we are clear, these were serious situations. My 15 1/2 year old has been hacking and coughing for months, perhaps 60% of her day is spent this way. She was mis-diagnosed with a collapsed trachea. Dr. Kline immediately recognized this was not the case, but rather that she had a lung infection. Within hours of beginning the treatment, her coughing all but stopped, and now two days later, it has stopped. I am not only impressed with the professionalism and experience of Dr. Kline, but appreciate that he obviously cares about his patients. I recommend this hospital above any that I have used or heard about through my readers.

Someone gave my mothers dog a 6 month supply of flea medication that was two weightclasses too high. My mom cant see small print anymore & couldnt read the box, so she trusted that what was handed to her by whoever worked the front desk that day was correct for two months. Yesterday, I happened to see the box & noticed that it was for a weightclass much higher than my moms 10lb shih tzu. After calling in to report this, Dr. Hooper stated that blood tests would be run on the pup to assure that there werent any major side effects from being overdosed, & that a replacement would be given at no cost. Today, a nasty character named Tiffany charged my mother $20 to replace the medication that could have killed her dog, then argued with both me & my mother about why she was justified in doing so. This Tiffany character is always snide, nasty, & rarely seems to know whats going on compared to the other ladies & gentlemen who work the front desk. Im honestly not sure why she still works there. If this was my moms mistake I would agree with the additional fees, but this was 100% the fault of the Kittyhawk Animal hospital staff & it needs to be fixed. As wonderful as Dr. Hooper, Dr. Kline, & most of the vet techs are I cannot trust a place that would have such careless & incompetent people handling potentially deadly medications. Youve definitely lost my business, & I hope everyone reading this takes the warning of how these people are. STAY AWAY FROM KITTYHAWK ANIMAL HOSPITAL.

We have been taking our pups to Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital for 10 years now and Dr. Horger has always taken care of them. The staff has been quite kind and you can tell that they do care for the animals in their care. The only reason this review is not five stars is that over the past year or so, there has been some turnover in the front office and some of the new staff needs to work on their customer service. I dont pay to bring my furry children in to be argued with about the care I provide them. I was told they would not sell me Heartgard for the pups because they didnt have a record of the last time I bought it. I found this odd, because A) I only buy it here and B) Youre not willing to sell me something to prevent heartworms in my dog because you dont have a record of the last time I gave my dog something to prevent heartworms in my dog? Caring for the animal is our first priority, no? In addition, this same staff member has charged me twice for shots before on the same animal. Thankfully, all of these issues have been remedied, but its not an experience that a pet owner should have to go through and was never an issue in the years prior. Again, thanks Dr. Horger and staff for providing the excellent care that you do. Chloe and River love them all to pieces.

Originally when Miss Milli Cat had a health issue, I was unable to get an immediate appointment with a good Vet. closer to our home - they referred me to Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital. I fully intended to transfer her care to the closer Vet. After receiving care from Kitty Hawk Vet and Staff, I made the decision to stay with this Practice. Miss Milli has been a client of Kitty Hawk since March 2014. Staff have always treated Milli with hands-on respect, and, on the phone or face to face with me, they have been courteous, knowledgeable and understanding. Millis personal Vet. is Dr. Hooper - she is the best! Dr. Hooper has been professionally attentive to Millis needs. She has explained and discussed with me health issues, treatments and procedures thoroughly. She has always answered my questions and discussed my concerns to my satisfaction. When Milli had blood lab drawn, Dr. Hooper called me and emailed results. I highly recommend this Vet. Practice. 04/26/17 addendum: Since I last posted, I have adopted Marlow cat as a companion for Milli cat. Staff continue to be courteous, knowledgeable, understanding and professional - Thank you all! :) Dr. Hooper is still the Best :) Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital gets 10 stars from me.
